THE KILLERS have been forced to cancel a gig in Amsterdam, the Netherlands following a terrorist threat.
The rockers were due to play at the city’s Amsterdam Heineken Music Hall on Thursday (12Mar09) night but the show was called off after police received anonymous warning about planned explosions at the venue.
Dutch police have arrested six men and a woman in connection with the alleged plot, on charges of preparing a terrorist attack.
One of those detained is believed to be a relative of a suspect in the 2004 Madrid train bombings in Spain, according to Pollstar.com.
Amsterdam mayor, Job Cohen, says, "It wasn’t a regular bomb warning, but a warning of a planned action aimed at creating casualties in shops." The show has been rescheduled for 29 May (09).

Rapper-turned-reality TV star COOLIO has scrapped his upcoming Australian tour following his recent arrest for drug possession.
The Gangsta’s Paradise hitmaker, real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was charged with battery and possession of cocaine on Tuesday (10Mar09) after a scuffle with security staff at Los Angeles International Airport last Friday (06Mar09).
He is free on $10,000 (£7,300) bail - but his legal troubles have forced him to pull his concerts Down Under, his Aussie promoter has confirmed to ABC News.
Coolio was due to kick off a string of gigs in Melbourne on Friday (13Mar09), with other shows scheduled for Perth, Sydney and the Gold Coast.
The cancellation comes just days after the rapper’s Aussie publicist Petrina Convey confessed his arrest had thrown the tour into jeopardy and even she was left unsure of the situation.
She said, "We’ve spoken to his management in the U.S., but they aren’t telling us anything." The star is due in court on 3 April (09) and faces up to three years in jail if convicted.

Rapper WYCLEF JEAN is touring his native Haiti with former U.S. president BILL CLINTON in a bid to raise international awareness about the poverty-stricken country.
The Fugees star, who arrived in Haiti on Wednesday (11Mar09), was invited to join the four-day fact finding mission by Clinton and the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
More than one million people have been displaced by the various natural disasters that have struck the nation in recent years, worsening the conditions for the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
The U.N. Security Council delegation met with Haiti’s president Rene Preval and top government officials to discuss the country’s struggles and come up with ways to attract international attention and aid.
And Jean is grateful to be given the opportunity to voice his opinions on a topic so close to his heart.
He says, "I was honoured to show my support when they asked me to join them on this important humanitarian trip which also gave them the opportunity to experience the beauty underneath the devastation my country and its people have had to face.
"It�s crucial for me to do all I can to raise awareness and help Haiti get through this tough time.� Jean recently announced plans to build a school in Haiti in conjunction with his charitable organisation, the Yele Center.

Celebrated Danish ballet dancer, choreographer and company director FLEMMING FLINDT has died after suffering a stroke, aged 72.
Flindt, well-known for choreographing controversial ballets with bizarre storylines, died on 3 March (09) at his home in Sarasota, Florida.
He choreographed his first ballet, The Lesson, in 1963, depicting a ballet teacher who murders his students. The piece was later interpreted by many companies, including the Joffrey Ballet.
His ballets The Triumph of Death and Salome also hit headlines in the 1970s for their nude scenes.
In addition to his own productions, Flindt shaped his career with dance companies around the world, including the Festival Ballet in London, the Paris Opera Ballet and the Royal Danish Ballet school.
He also served as director at the prestigious Danish ballet company for 12 years, and at the Dallas Ballet from 1981 to 1989.
Flindt is survived by three daughters.

A Florida judge has granted former wrestler HULK HOGAN access to some of the funds frozen in his divorce battle with estranged wife LINDA BOLLEA.
Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, appeared in a Pinellas County court on Thursday (12Mar09) to formally request the release of $300,000 (£218,980) in order to pay his bills.
In legal papers filed on Monday (09Mar09), he claimed he was unable to work after undergoing back surgery last month (Feb09).
The motion indicated he had approximately $411,000 (£300,000) in the bank, but owed $312,000 (£228,000) in outstanding debts.
He was handed a partial victory when Judge George Greer ruled Hogan could have $225,000 (£164,230) a month for the next three months, despite Bollea claiming the star would simply spend the cash recklessly.
Greer also set a 5 October (09) start date for the couple’s impending divorce trial.
But the bitter divorce battle heated up outside the courtroom, when Hogan confronted Bollea’s attorney, Ray Lafool, as he was giving a press conference.
Objecting to Lafool’s claims that Hogan is to blame for his own financial troubles, the ex-grappler said, "I’ll sue you", to which the attorney replied, "Are you gonna wrestle me? …You are the person that has caused this issue." Hogan responded saying, "I can talk, it’s a free world", before the war of words continued between Lafool and Hogan’s own lawyer.
A court bailiff arrived to break up the dispute, but the two parties had gone their separate ways.

HEROES actress HAYDEN PANETTIERE has dismissed reports her recent split from co-star MILO VENTIMIGLIA is causing tension on the set of their hit TV show.
The actors met when they both landed roles in Heroes, overcoming their 12-year age gap to embark on a romance.
The relationship ended last month (Feb09) and Panettiere, 19, has been dogged by speculation about her onset antics - with many internet gossips claiming she refused to work with Ventimiglia, 31.
But the teenager has denied the claims, insisting the former couple is still on friendly terms.
She tells OK! magazine, "Milo and I are very close. We have enjoyed and continue to enjoy working together." Series creator Tim Kring has also assured fans that neither Panettiere nor Ventimiglia will be leaving the show without his approval, adding: "The final decision about which characters live and die on Heroes rests with me."

An auction of MICHAEL JACKSON’s personal property has been given the go-ahead by the star’s attorneys - just weeks after the singer took legal action to stop the sale.
Jackson’s lawyers filed suit earlier this month (04Mar09) against Julien’s Auction House, claiming the bosses are not "entitled to retain possession of Michael Jackson’s personal property".
Company executives hit back, insisting the singer had given permission for the sale - which was set for 21 April (09).
And now papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday (10Mar09) allow auction bosses to continue to advertise the event - but only until 3 April (09) when the lawsuit is set to be heard.
Auction house founder, Darren Julien, says, "They’ve agreed for us to continue to promote the exhibit and auction." Julien adds that he "hopes and expects" the star to honour the original contract and allow the auction to go ahead as planned.
The sale will feature items from Jackson’s personal collections including his famous rhinestone gloves and the hands of Johnny Depp’s movie character Edward Scissorhands, which the singer owned.
The lawsuit is said to have been sparked by plans to sell off the gates to Jackson’s former home, the Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California, which the star reportedly wants back.

Hollywood actress CHARLIZE THERON has begged the media to stop mentioning her father’s violent death - because she wants to "stop living in the past".
Theron was 15 when she saw her mother, Gerda, shoot dead her alcoholic and abusive father, Charles, in self-defence.
The Oscar-winner is constantly asked about the incident in interviews - and admits seeing so many stories about her family history is upsetting for her.
She says, "For me, this thing happened so long ago and I just really wish people could move on from it. I don’t live in the past. When I read headlines about me saying, ‘When she was 15, her mother shot her father,’ it’s very sensational for me. It happened 18 years ago.
"Since then I’ve had a complete, full life, and my God, if I’ve been living the past 18 years in the past because of one event, someone should put a gun to my head and put me out of my misery because that’s a waste of my life."

Talk show queen OPRAH WINFREY has blamed low self-esteem for RIHANNA’s decision to reconcile with boyfriend CHRIS BROWN.
Brown is facing felony charges of assault and making criminal threats following an altercation with the Umbrella hitmaker last month (Feb09).

Hollywood actress JENNIFER ANISTON nearly turned down a role in new movie MARLEY & ME - because she didn’t like the book on which the film was based.
The former Friends star was given several copies of the novel, Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog, as gifts in 2005.
And she was reluctant to sign up to a role in the film - because she was so unimpressed with the book, she kept it in her bathroom without ever reading it.
The star eventually changed her mind after seeing the script, but still harboured fears cinema-goers would share her initial reaction to the concept.
Aniston says, "I’m really pleased people like the film, because initially I wasn’t sure about it.
"A few people had given me the book for Christmas the year it came out, but I thought it was one of those little books that people keep in the bathroom. It was only when I read the script and then the book, that I realised it was more than a story about a dog."

Stars including JUDE LAW, ALAN RICKMAN and MARTIN FREEMAN are to launch a memorial event for late director ANTHONY MINGHELLA.
The actors have teamed up to launch the Minghella Movie Marathon - a mini film festival in tribute to the star, who died last year (08) after a battle with cancer.
The event will take place in Newport on the Isle of Wight - a tiny island off the south coast of England - this weekend (14-15Mar09) and will feature screenings of some of Minghella’s most famous films.
Rickman will kick off the event with 1990’s Truly, Madly, Deeply while Law will introduce a showing of his 1999 movie The Talented Mr Ripley.
A statement on behalf of the Minghella family reads, "Anthony was passionate about everything he loved, including film making and the Isle of Wight. It seems entirely fitting to celebrate his memory with a movie marathon on the island and we look forward to welcoming his many, many film industry friends to Newport this weekend."

BABYSHAMBLES frontman PETE DOHERTY came close to quitting the group after a mischievous fan yanked the star’s underwear during a concert.
The rocker threw himself into the crowd during a show in Dundee, Scotland several years ago - and was stunned when a man grabbed his undergarments and viciously pulled them upwards.
Doherty stopped the performance and fled in tears - hiding in the band’s tour bus and threatening to quit the group over the incident.
He says, "The gig was going great, so I thought, ‘I’ll dive in,’ and this big Scotsman just grabbed hold of my pants (underwear) and said, ‘Cop a load of this, Doherty’. Those were his exact words.
"I hid in the tour bus crying. When they (my bandmates) found me I was crying my eyes out, going, ‘The band’s not working out. We should split up.’ Nobody believed what was wrong, and eventually I snapped, ‘All right, I got a wedgie, OK?’"

Hit TV series 24 will relocate to Europe when the show is transformed for the big screen, according to its star KIEFER SUTHERLAND.
The actor is confident a movie version of 24 is not far off - and believes producers want to set the action in Britain and mainland Europe.
Sutherland admits TV bosses wanted to produce a whole season of the show outside the U.S. - but it’s more practical to shoot a one-off film abroad.
He says, "It�s something that we�ve always talked about because I think the fantastic thing about Europe, for something like 24 is that it�s very feasible to get from Prague to London in the course of a day.
"It�s just a question of when we�re actually going to make the movie."

LINDSAY LOHAN reportedly left one of her bodyguards stranded in Las Vegas after fleeing the city following a fight with girlfriend SAMANTHA RONSON.

Voters in California are showing their opposition to governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER - by burning copies of his movies.
Residents unhappy at the star’s policies are holding impromptu bonfires fuelled by DVDs starring the Terminator actor, and other memorabilia associated with his films.
They are also hurling Schwarzenegger movie posters onto the pyre, according to the New York Post.
Playwright Larry Myers tells gossip column PageSix, "The flames were reminiscent of those which engulfed St. Joan of Lorraine (Joan of Arc)."

BRAD PAISLEY has topped a new radio poll to find America’s favourite country star.
The Celebrity singer picked up an almost perfect score in newly-released survey carried out by the Country Radio Broadcasters Inc. and Edison Research.
More than 13,000 country music radio listeners took part in the poll - and chose Paisley ahead of Brooks & Dunn, George Strait, Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and Tim McGraw.
Taylor Swift topped a related survey to find most popular emerging artist in country. She beat out Lady Antebellum, Sugarland and Carrie Underwood.
Meanwhile, Strait, Chesney, Keith, Garth Brooks and Rascal Flatts were named among the all-time great country artists in the survey.

BETTE MIDLER has finally seen the first photos taken of her as Mrs. Martin Von Haselberg - 24 years after she got married in Las Vegas.
The singer/actress gave up all hope of ever seeing the snaps taken by a wedding photographer on the day she exchanged vows with her husband before an Elvis Presley impersonator, but they were handed over by the owner of the chapel.
He found them stashed away as he was clearing out the Sin City wedding location before selling up and got in touch with Midler, a frequent visitor to Las Vegas.
She says, "I got a letter from the guy, saying, ‘I’m closing my chapel and I thought you’d like these.’ He sent us our photos and we looked like children."
