A thousand MILEY CYRUS fans have been compensated after they were duped into joining her fan club under false pretences.
The devotees complained when they couldn’t buy tickets for a Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - despite being promised priority booking when they paid $29.99 (£21.89) to sign up for Mileyworld.com.
An investigation discovered the fan club was still offering the perk after gig tickets reserved for pre-sales had sold out.
A settlement was agreed in a Pittsburgh court on Tuesday (10Mar09) which awards the disgruntled fans four months’ free membership. The company that runs the fan club will also pay a $20,000 (£14,600) civil penalty.

A Louisiana judge has doubled rapper COREY MILLER’s bail and ordered him to remain behind bars until the April (09) start of his murder trial - after ruling the star broke house arrest rules.
Miller, formerly known as C-Murder, was thrown in jail after he was reportedly caught leaving his grandmother’s home without permission on Monday (09Mar09) morning.
He was under house arrest at the Kenner home, awaiting a trial hearing on 20 April (09) when he will face a second-degree murder charge relating to the death of a 16-year-old during a 2002 brawl at a New Orleans-area nightclub.
He is now in prison on $1 million (£729,930) bail, after State District Judge Hans Liljeberg queried his motives behind the brief outings during a court hearing on Wednesday (11Mar09).
Explaining his decision, Liljeberg told Miller he had never come across such behaviour by other suspects on house arrest, adding, "I don’t think it’s terribly unjust for the defendant to await trial across the street (in jail)." Miller’s lawyer, Ron Rakosky, has refused to indicate whether Miller will post bail and argued the incident was a misunderstanding - claiming his client was at home sleeping when the alarm on his electronic monitor was triggered.

Rapper/actor NICK CANNON’s TV career has been given a big boost - he’s been named chairman of Nickelodeon’s new network TEENick.
The husband of Mariah Carey, who was recently announced as the new host of reality show America’s Got Talent, has signed a two year contract with broadcasting bosses, which will see him serve as creative consultant and director of the teenage-orientated firm.
And Cannon is delighted with the appointment - because he scored his TV debut on the network’s hit comedy show All That in 1998, when he was just 18.
He says, "I started my career here at Nickelodeon and am so excited to be back, serving as an integral part of TEENick as the in-house voice and representative for teens everywhere.

Actress CAMILLA BELLE is lending her support to an African children’s charity by becoming its spokesmodel.
The 10,000 BC beauty is the new face of H.E.L.P., a non-profit agency established in Malawi aiming to make a difference by giving kids hope, education, love, protection and the opportunity to make their dreams become a reality.
Belle and organisers at H.E.L.P. have teamed up with the Lori Leavitt Collection to relaunch the jewellery firm’s What Love Means campaign, which donates all profits from its Panthera Collection to the children of the impoverished nation.
Belle wears pieces of the jewellery in new advertisements, which promote necklaces, bracelets and rings, among others, with African-inspired designs.

CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG star DICK VAN DYKE rolled back the years to perform hits from the kids’ classic at a charity bash in California on Monday (09Mar09).
The 83-year-old performer took to the stage to sing and dance a number of tracks from the 1968 musical - which is in line for a Hollywood remake - and he helped to raise $500,000 (£357,000) for kids’ outreach charity Geffen’s Stage for Any Age.
Helen Mirren, Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson and Brendan Fraser were also in the crowd at the seventh annual Backstage at the Geffen Gala at the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood.
During the event, the stars were invited to share embarrassing theatre tales, before Wilson was honoured with the Distinction in Theater Award.

HELEN HUNT has sparked rumours she’s engaged to producer/director MATTHEW CARNAHAN - after she was photographed wearing a diamond sparkler on her ring finger.
Hunt flashed the jewel as the couple held hands during a romantic walk in Santa Monica, California, on Wednesday (11Mar09).
The 45-year-old actress and Carnahan, 48, have been together since 2001 and they are parents to four-year-old daughter Makena Lei Gordon Carnahan.
Carnahan also has a son from a previous relationship.
Hunt has previously dated Kevin Spacey and was married to actor Hank Azaria for one year between 1999 and 2000.

The song has caused a storm of controversy, with family groups urging radio stations to ban the tune - because of its racy, suggestive lyrics; broken down, Spears appears to be singing ‘F-*-*-K me’ in the chorus.
Spears debuted the clip online on Thursday (12Mar09), and she wasted no time addressing her headline-hitting lyrics, both opening and closing the video with a clip of a news anchor appearing outraged at the song’s sexual undertones.
Dressed in cleavage-baring lingerie, Spears bounces to the lyrics in front of a team of scantily-clad backing dancers.
But the mum-of-two ends the video on a more wholesome note. She changes into an apple pie-baking 1950’s-style housewife - joined by a doting husband and two young boys - as she walks to a white picket fence and blows kisses to the paparazzi outside her fictional home.

DAVID HASSELHOFF’s ex-wife PAMELA BACH is facing a felony charge of driving under the influence (DUI) after she was arrested on Wednesday (11Mar09) night following a car crash.
The actress, 46, was taken into custody by California police after allegedly causing a rear end collision at around 9pm local time in the San Fernando Valley area.
All involved in the collision complained of minor injuries, leading Bach to be booked for a felony, reports TMZ.com.
She was released from Van Nuys jail at midnight after posting $100,000 (£72,990) bail and is due in court on 6 April (09).
It’s not the first time Bach has been in trouble with the law - she was previously booked on hit and run charges in 2007 after crashing into a parked car and leaving the scene of the crime. The charges were later dropped after the victim chose not to pursue the matter.
Hasselhoff and Bach have been embroiled in a bitter legal battle over attorney costs and living arrangements since the Baywatch star filed for divorce in 2006 after 16 years of marriage.

Hollywood actress REESE WITHERSPOON wants to move her career in a different direction - she is hoping to land a part in an action movie.
The Oscar-winner lends her voice to new 3D animation picture Monsters Vs Aliens, and admits the picture has inspired her to look for more explosive projects.

Artists including RADIOHEAD, ROBBIE WILLIAMS and BLUR’s DAVE ROWNTREE have voted against penalties for fans who illegally download their music.
A number of high profile musicians came together for a meeting of the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) in London on Wednesday (11Mar09), to discuss artists’ rights in the music industry.
The meeting included a ballot over whether internet users should be prosecuted if they are caught downloading music without paying for it, but the majority of the artists present all voted against such a move.
British rocker, Billy Bragg, says, "What I said at the meeting was that the record industry in Britain is still going down the road of criminalising our audience for downloading illegal MP3s. If we follow the music industry down that road, we will be doing nothing more than being part of a protectionist effort. It’s like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube.
"Artists should own their own rights and they should decide when their music should be used for free, or when they should have payment. We want to side with the audience, the consumer." The vote came after the publication of a government report recommending that offenders are prosecuted through the civil courts.
Bragg also revealed that the FAC are now planning to take their views to politicians - to urge them not to go through with the plans.

British rocker PETE DOHERTY has confessed to selling drugs to members of U.S. band THE STROKES.
The Babyshambles singer struck up a friendship with the five-strong group in 2001 when he was a member of The Libertines.
And Doherty admits he used to provide his pals with illegal substances - often in return for a ticket to one of the band’s shows.
He tells Britain’s ShortList magazine, "I used to sell a few little things on the side, you know? They (The Strokes) were on their first tour, and were like just a few American lads in London looking for a good time. They met a friend of mine, who said I could get them a few bits and bobs.
"I think I sold them a load of acid, they gave me tickets to their gig, I got them some more acid and it went from there.�

Jazz trumpeter IAN CARR has died at the age of 75.
Carr, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, died on 25 February (09) in London after suffering complications from a bout of pneumonia and a series of mini-strokes.
As a writer, composer and bandleader, the Scottish-born musician was well-known for his success with jazz-rock fusion band, Nucleus, which he founded in 1969. The band - best known for songs like Belladonna, Alleycat and Out of the Long Dark - split in the 1980s, but later reunited for several concert dates and recordings.
Carr also wrote for several jazz publications and published several books on music, including Music Outside: Contemporary Jazz in Britain and a tribute to his idol, trumpeter Miles Davis in Miles Davis: A Critical Biography.
Carr is survived by a daughter, Selina.

Latin music impresario RALPH MERCADO has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 67.
Mercado, who managed Latin singers including Tito Puente and Celia Cruz, died on Tuesday (10Mar09) in Hackensack, New Jersey. No further details of his death were given.
He was widely acknowledged as the most prominent promoter of salsa music, known for organising salsa concerts in large arenas including New York’s famed Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall.
Mercado’s RMM label, founded in 1987, represented more than 130 Latin artists. He sold it to the Universal and Music and Video Distribution Corporation in 2001 after losing a copyright infringement suit.
Mercado is survived by his wife, Cynthia; daughters Debbie, Damaris, Melissa and Chanel; a son, Ralph III; and six grandchildren.

Former American football star-turned-actor BRIAN BOSWORTH has been charged with two misdemeanours following his arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) last week.
The ex-NFL player, who made appearances in Three Kings and The Longest Yard, was taken into custody by Hollywood police last Friday (06Mar09). He was initially pulled over by cops for failing to display a licence plate on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
He now faces counts of DUI and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or above.
Bosworth, 43, is free on $5,000 (£3,650) bail and is due in court for arraignment on 3 April (09). If convicted, he faces up to six months behind bars as well as a $1,000 (£730) fine, reports TMZ.com.

Producers behind MTV reality series THE HILLS have been hit with a lawsuit amid allegations a Beverly Hills mansion rented for filming was trashed during the shoot.
Property owner Igor Greenberg claims he rented out his luxurious home to TV executives to film the Live from the Hills Season Finale episode - starring Lauren Conrad - in 2008, after being promised it would be returned in "the same condition".
But when the keys were handed back, he found the house had been left in a state of disrepair - and now he’s suing to pay for the damage, reports TMZ.com.
According to legal papers filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday (11Mar09), Greenberg accuses MTV bosses and executives at New Productions Inc. of causing "extensive damage to the property in at least the amount of $158,250.07 (£115,511)".

Actor DWAYNE ‘THE ROCK’ JOHNSON is begging Broadway bosses to cast him in a musical - insisting his Samoan heritage means he’d be a natural on the New York stage.
The former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star has softened up his tough guy image with roles in a string of family films and comedies since embarking on a Hollywood career.
Now Johnson is eager to show off his talents on a Broadway stage, claiming he’s been singing and dancing since he was a child.
