U2 have ended TAYLOR SWIFT’s reign as the queen of the U.S. album chart by claiming their seventh American number one.
As expected by chart experts, No Line on the Horizon debuted at the top of the Billboard chart after selling 484,000 copies in its first week on release. It marks the best sales week for an artist this year (09).
U2 is now tied with Led Zeppelin for the second-most U.S. number one albums - the Beatles lead the pack with 19.
Swift’s Fearless drops to two after spending 11 non-consecutive weeks at number one and Neko Case scores her biggest week on the chart, debuting new album Middle Cyclone at three.

A lost painting commissioned by THE DOORS star JIM MORRISON just before his death has been turned into a new must-have poster for his fans.
Artist T.E. Breitenbach created The Morrison Triptych at the request of the rock legend during the winter of 1970/71 - months before the singer/poet’s death in Paris, France.
Morrison planned to use the piece as the cover of an album of poetry - but he died without telling anyone of his wishes, and Breitenbach’s creation became a forgotten piece of rock art.
Now, the editors of fanzine Strange Days Newsletter have unearthed the painting and correspondence between the artist and Morrison.
A spokesman says, "T.E. Breitenbach had previously sent a letter to The Doors’ office telling them how he admired their music and Morrison’s lyrics. In the letter, Breitenbach offered to paint an album cover for Jim or The Doors.
"Morrison immediately replied and sent his ideas for the painting, along with two autographed, private editions of his poetry.
"After Breitenbach finished the painting, Morrison was very pleased and asked if he could use it on the cover of his poetry album that he was currently working on. The deal was set but Jim passed away in Paris on July 3rd, 1971 before his album was complete. In 1978, the producers of the An American Prayer album didn’t know of Jim’s ideas for the Triptych cover, so it was never used." Strange Days editors have been given permission to offer a limited edition poster set of the painting to fans, who will also receive a copy of Morrison’s letter to Breitenbach, describing his ideas for the project.
The insider tells WENN, "It’s very interesting reading."

Reclusive pop superstar PRINCE is set to make a rare TV appearance after lining up a four-night mini-concert series for America’s the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
The outgoing comic will play host to the Purple Rain hitmaker on 25 to 27 March (09), as Prince prepares for the 29 March (09) release of two new albums, LOtUSFLOW3R and MPLSoUND.
The hitmaker will also perform a fourth night on the Tonight Show, on 28 May (09), as part of Leno’s departing celebrations.
The end of the month looks set to be a very busy time for Prince - in an email message sent to fans, he writes, "From the 24th on, there will b a slew of NPG-related events happening around electric LAlaland.. we don’t want 2 give away all the details yet, but b prepared 2 get yo groove on, numerous ways 4 numerous days."

Rocker TOMMY LEE’s helicopter pilot has been stripped of his license to fly after video footage of him receiving oral sex while at the controls leaked online.
David Martz hit the headlines at the beginning of February (09) when authorities demanded he land his helicopter in Glendale, California after an erratic flying session with Lee onboard.
Lee insisted his pilot was just following orders - the rocker had told him to get as close as he could to a building fire.
But the incident was the beginning of the end for Martz - after TMZ.com obtained footage of the fun-loving pilot engaged in a sexual act while in the air.
Federal Aviation Administration officials have issued an "emergency revocation" of Martz’s license. They reached the decision based on video that, "showed Martz receiving oral sex while flying his helicopter over San Diego".
The pilot is appealing the decision.

The high-class escort at the centre of the Governor Elliot Spitzer scandal has revealed rap mogul RUSSELL SIMMONS is helping her get past the controversy.
The New York Governor resigned after his sessions with hooker Ashley Dupre were exposed, and she immediately became both a figure of fun and a person of interest.

British actress MIRANDA RICHARDSON turned down the role of a psychotic mistress in hit 1987 thriller FATAL ATTRACTION because she thought the movie was "hideous".
Richardson was originally offered the role of Alex Forrest, opposite Michael Douglas, but rejected the job after reading the script.
The role was subsequently given to Glenn Close - and the film helped her become a household name.
But Richardson insists that even the promise of a glittering Hollywood career would not have tempted her to take the part.
She says, "I genuinely can’t do c**p. If I don’t believe in a role, I can’t pull it off. There would have been people who wondered why on earth I would not do that role, but I felt so strongly that is was demonising women. I thought it was hideous and I didn’t want to have anything to do with it."

Former THE SOPRANOS star JAMES GANDOLFINI was forced to scrap the Wednesday (11Mar09) matinee of his Broadway show GOD OF CARNAGE - to rest his voice.
The actor was told to rest up or risk voice problems by doctors.
Wednesday evening’s performance of the play, also starring Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis and Marcia Gay Harden, is expected to go ahead as planned.
The play is currently in previews; an official opening is set for 22 March (09) at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

The producers of polygamy drama BIG LOVE have been forced to defend their decision to include the depiction of a sacred Mormon ceremony after church leaders called the idea offensive.
Sunday’s (15Mar09) episode of the critically acclaimed show, which stars Bill Pullman as the head of a Utah polygamous family, will feature an endowment ceremony, which few outside the Mormon religion have ever seen.
Bosses at HBO, the network airing the show in America, have apologised to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officials for causing offence - but they insist the show will go on, claiming the controversial scenes are an important part of the Big Love storyline.
In the footage, actress Jeanne Tripplehorn’s character Barb performs symbolic, traditional acts to prepare herself for admittance to heaven.
Mormon leaders are calling for a boycott of the show, insisting the depiction of the endowment ceremony, without explanation, is likely to have a "long-term negative effect on the church".

Shamed R&B singer CHRIS BROWN has withdrawn his name from the upcoming Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards as a result of the "controversy" surrounding his recent fight with girlfriend RIHANNA.
The Kiss Kiss star is facing two felony charges relating to an altercation with Rihanna after a Grammys party last month (08Feb09).
Brown’s career has taken a serious hit after it emerged the incident left the Umbrella hitmaker reportedly needing medical treatment for her injuries - and now the 19-year-old has decided to remove his name from contention at the 28 March (09) ceremony.
He was nominated for two awards: Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song for Kiss Kiss - in which he was up against Rihanna’s Don’t Stop The Music.
But Brown has decided to step back from the prizegiving in a bid to quell the intense interest in his personal troubles - although he promises fans he will soon speak out to give his side of the story.
A statement from his representative says, "Chris very much appreciates the support of his fans and the honour they have paid him in the way of nominations for Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song.
"Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding the incident last month has shifted the focus from the music to whether he should be allowed to be among those nominated.
"While Chris would like to speak to his fans directly about this and other issues, pending legal proceedings preclude his doing so at this time. Once the matter before him has been resolved, he intends to do so." The move comes just days after bosses at Nickelodeon owners MTV Networks and Viacom International vowed to keep his name in the running - despite being presented with an online petition demanding Brown’s removal from the awards show.
The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards are voted for by the TV channel’s young viewers.

Hollywood superstar WILL SMITH is to open another school with his wife JADA - following the success of the couple’s new Leadership Academy in California.
The pair launched the New Village Leadership Academy in Calabasas, California last year (08), which will teach pre-kindergarten children through to sixth grade at age 11-12.
And now Pinkett Smith has announced that they hope to open a companion high school, which will take pupils from the age of 11 until graduation.
The decision comes after Pinkett Smith spent time developing a home-school program for the couple’s own children, Jaden, 10 and Willow, eight.
The Smiths’ school was targetted by critics following reports the facility would follow a Scientology based program - but the couple denied the rumours insisting the school will cater for pupils of all religions.

Actress KATIE HOLMES is adding fashion designer to her resume - she’s developing a clothing line for young girls.
The 30-year-old star has been inspired by Suri, her two-year-old daughter with Tom Cruise.
And she’s teamed up with stylist Jeanne Yang to break into the fashion industry.
Holmes tells America’s Glamour magazine, "Jeanne Yang and I have been working together. We started about a year ago, sketching different things, trying to find comfortable clothing for our daughters that is also pretty and cute… We both grew up with mothers who sewed." But Holmes admits her longterm plans for the line will see it expand to include more than just children’s clothes.
She adds, "We just started, and we’ve played around with doing things for women as well."

Organisers of a New York concert featuring BEATLES SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and RINGO STARR have apologised to outraged fans after hundreds were blocked from buying tickets online.
The stars are both booked to perform at Manhattan’s iconic Radio City Music Hall on 4 April (09) at a bash to aid The David Lynch Foundation - formed by the director to promote meditation in schools.
The booking has sparked rumours the pair will take to the stage together and wow fans with a Beatles reunion duet, prompting an overwhelming demand for tickets.
But fans were left fuming after Ticketmaster.com began declining requests just nine seconds into Monday’s (09Mar09) launch, while tickets appeared onsale online for upto $9,000 (£6,520).
The controversy has forced the foundation’s programme director Chris Busch to write to fans, expressing his disappointment.
The note, distributed on Tuesday (10Mar09), says: "Ticketmaster suggested the demand was so great that internet ordering could easily claim 1,200 tickets in a matter of moments. We did hear from individuals who beat the scalpers (touts) and got a ticket on the Monday morning sale. But many didn’t.
"We were alarmed seeing that tickets were listed on the scalping sites days before they went on sale. To our knowledge these tickets were only being held by Ticketmaster for the pre-sale and public sale. It is disappointing to us that we can not accommodate all the fans who want to attend. And very disappointing for us to see how many tickets are being sold on the ticket reselling sites from people who only care about making a buck." Starr and McCartney last played together in 2002.

MONKEES star PETER TORK was stunned when doctors told him he was suffering from a rare and deadly form of cancer - because he’s the world’s cleanest-living rock star.
The 67-year-old singer underwent surgery last week (04Mar09) to remove a cancerous growth from his tongue.
He’s now recovering, hopeful the operation removed all the cancer cells from his body.
But Tork can’t understand how he ended up with the disease, because he’s the healthiest person he knows.
The star’s spokeswoman Therra Cathryn Gwyn says, "Peter was shocked to learn he had cancer, because he has absolutely no bad habits. He doesn’t smoke or do drugs or drink, and he watches everything he eats." Tork is hoping to back onstage with his band Shoe Suede Blues in June (09).

VELVET REVOLVER have dismissed rumours they have found a replacement for former frontman SCOTT WEILAND, insisting they are still searching for a new singer.
The supergroup, featuring former Guns N’ Roses stars Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, sacked Weiland after a series of public band rows in April (08) and have been looking for a new lead vocalist ever since.
Online reports suggested Gord Prior, from Canadian-based band Blu Bones, had been plucked from virtual obscurity to join the rockers - beating competition from artists including Liv Tyler’s ex-husband, Royston Langdon.
But a spokesperson for Sanctuary Artist Management, which represents the band, insists the claims are not true - although the representative admits Prior has been approached to pen lyrics for the group.
The rep tells Music Radar, "Gord Prior isn’t the new guy. In fact, no decision has been made as to who the singer is.
"But he’s just one of numerous singers that tapes went out to. Gord submitted his demos just like everybody else. He wasn’t even asked to come in and do a formal audition."

ADAM ‘DJ AM’ GOLDSTEIN has dismissed reports he was booked on the doomed Continental Flight 3407 and escaped what would have been his second deadly plane crash in six months.
Internet reports on Wednesday (11Mar09) suggested the 35-year-old had a seat on the 12 February (09) flight from Newark, New Jersey, which crashed as it approached Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The tragic accident killed all 49 passengers and crew on board and one person on the ground.
It was claimed Goldstein cancelled at the last minute and made the journey by car instead.
But the star’s publicist insists the rumours are false, stating, "DJ AM was never booked on the Continental flight that crashed last month, in fact he was performing that evening in NYC. That crash nor the one he was involved in, has prevented him from flying - although he has tremendously scaled back his east coast residencies to focus on his recovery." Goldstein and his pal Travis Barker were the only survivors of a plane crash in South Carolina last September (08), which left four dead.
