JACKSON’S CALL OF SUPPORT FOR AILING REALITY TV STAR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

Pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON has lifted the spirits of dying British reality TV star JADE GOODY, by taking time out to call her in hospital over the weekend (07-08Mar09).
Goody, who is dying of cancer, was asleep at London’s Royal Marsden hospital when Jackson called - and was stunned to find a voicemail message from the King of Pop when she awoke.
Jackson learned of the 27 year old’s plight from his brother Jermaine, who starred alongside Goody on British reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother in 2007.
And the superstar, in London to announce a string of gigs in the capital this summer (09), chose to reach out with a few words of support.
Goody’s publicist Max Clifford reveals, "He called to say, ‘I’m thinking of you. Jermaine’s told me all about you, and you are all over the media in America.’ "He said he hoped she could come and see the show while he is London. It was lovely." Otherwise, it was a weekend of hospital drama for Goody - a hammer wielding woman was arrested on Sunday (08Mar09) after sneaking past security staff to confront her in her hospital room.
The "shaken" star screamed out for help and police were called. A 41-year-old woman was later released without charge.
Meanwhile, Goody and her two young sons were baptised in the hospital’s chapel on Saturday (07Mar09).

The 23-year-old actress writes, "Things just didn’t feel quite right. Barton began dating the 23-year-old The Kooks frontman back in December (08) - but now claims the pair make better friends than lovers.
She adds, "I think Luke is a great guy, but the type better suited as a friend. We have a surprising amount of mutual friends in England and I don’t regret our time together, I just couldn’t keep it going.
"If there ever is a case of two people staying friends I’m sure it will be the case with us – our personalities are very good for that." Barton isn’t Pritchard’s first celebrity girlfriend - he previously dated singer Katie Melua.

TUPAC’S LOST FILM SCRIPT TO BE MADE INTO A MOVIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:15 pm

A screenplay tragic rapper TUPAC SHAKUR wrote during a 1995 prison stint is to hit cinemas in 2010.
The prolific star penned Live 2 Tell as a starring vehicle for himself, according to Vibe magazine, but he never lived to see out his dream.
The film, which chronicles an ex-drug dealer’s battle to beat his problems, was discovered by the late rapper’s mother Afeni Shakur and sold to Insomnia Productions.
Producers will start casting the film next month (Apr09).
Meanwhile, Afeni Shakur is currently locked in a battle with movie executives at film company Morgan Creek after allegedly backing out of a deal to sell the rights to the late rapper’s life story for a film adaptation.
Amaru Entertainment, which is run by Shakur - the executor of Tupac’s estate, is being sued by the film production company bosses, who allege a written contract was in place for the rights to the California Love hitmaker’s life story.
They claim Afeni backed out of negotiations, which began in November (08), and is now refusing "to honour and perform a contract of a production of the film based on the life of Tupac Shakur".
The company is seeking unspecified damages.
Lawyers for Amaru Entertainment have denied existence of any such deal with Morgan Creek - and claim the production company only filed the writ to sabotage talks with other movie studios about adapting Shakur’s life story.

FLU DRUGS HELPED HANKS ACE BROADWAY AUDITION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

Actor COLIN HANKS is stunned he landed a role on Broadway alongside movie great JANE FONDA, because he was so drugged up on flu medication during the audition, he couldn’t stand up.
The 31-year-old son of Hollywood star Tom Hanks has no idea how he impressed theatre bosses, because he can barely remember the nightmare audition for 33 Variations.
Hanks, who opens the show in Manhattan on Monday (09Mar09), tells the New York Post, "I honestly don’t remember much of the audition at all. The only moment I really recall was that the director had given me some sort of note and I did the scene sitting down because I was too weak to stand up. I remember going over to the director and literally having no clue if I’d done it right, because I couldn’t remember what he’d asked me to do."

LOHAN AND RONSON FAIL TO FULFIL CLUB CONTRACT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN and SAMANTHA RONSON infuriated Florida club bosses at the weekend after failing to fulfil their contractual duties for an event they were booked to host.
The Mean Girls star and her DJ girlfriend had originally been scheduled to appear at Passion, a nightclub in the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, on St. Valentine’s Day (14Feb09) - but both declared they were too ill to fly from New York and they cancelled the appearance.
They vowed to make up for the scrapped gig and rescheduled the party for Saturday (07Mar09).
But while the pair turned up to the club on the night, they refused to abide by their deal to pose on the red carpet - instead bypassing the crowds of paparazzi who had been invited to snap the couple at the event.
And their actions have forced the publicity team at Hard Rock Hotel to apologise to the media for the "shameful" snub.
A letter released to the press from the event manager says, "I wanted to take this time to apologize for the debacle last night at Passion Nightclub. Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson appeared at the club but did not fulfill their commitment to appear on the red carpet for a photo opportunity with media. Eventually we brought all media inside the club but the combination of poor lighting and Lohan and Ronson hiding from the media made it impossible for media to get photos.
"Last night was an embarrassment for myself and I am ashamed…
"I will not go in to the issues, miscommunications and poor decisions by non-casino staff that led to last night’s disaster, but I do assure you these mistakes will be addressed and this type of debacle will NEVER be allowed to happen again."

N.W.A. BIOPIC ON ITS WAY?

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Rap legends N.W.A. are to be immortalised on the big screen - a major biopic is in the works.
The Compton, California supergroup - comprising of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren and DJ Yella - shot to fame in the late 1980s after signing to Death Row Records, and drew attention with controversial hits like Straight Outta Compton, F**k tha Police and Gangsta Gangsta.
Ice Cube quit the band in 1989 after a dispute over royalties, and the remaining N.W.A. members parted ways in 1991.
The rappers each went on to achieve solo success, with Ice Cube and Dr. Dre garnering critical acclaim for their own projects, while Eazy-E enjoyed some popularity with his numerous discs before dying from AIDS in 1995.
And now their West Coast legacy is heading to cinemas - a project tentatively titled Straight Outta Compton is being developed with Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E’s widow all on board as producers, according to Entertainment Weekly.
They are reportedly seeking a director to helm the project in a style similar to Curtis Hanson’s take on Eminem’s 2002 movie, 8 Mile.
