MADONNA ‘TO CLOSE FINNISH SEA’ FOR GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:42 pm

MADONNA has applied to close the seas around Helsinki, Finland so she can commandeer a small island to stage a gig for 80,000 people, according to reports.
The Holiday hitmaker is taking her Sticky & Sweet world tour to Jatkasaari, Helsinki in August (09).
And she has applied to officials to close the sea and airspace over the area to prevent ticketless fans from enjoying the spectacle for free, reports Britain’s Daily Star Sunday.
A source tells the publication, "Madonna couldn’t find a stadium in Finland big enough for all her fans so instead she’s taking over an island.
"But to stop people watching from the water on boats, she and the promoters have applied to close the sea. She’s also worried people will hire helicopters to watch from the sky so she wants to close the airspace over the site as well." But locals are not happy with the request and are worried about the effect the concert will have within the community.
One says, "Who does Madonna think she is? To have 80,000 people in such a small area is a joke. We don’t have the facilities to cope with so many people."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:39 pm

The father of AMY WINEHOUSE is threatening to sue the mother of her estranged husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL, claiming she has waged an 18-month hate campaign against him.
The former couple is currently going through divorce proceedings and last week the Rehab singer’s mother-in-law Georgette Civil blasted Winehouse’s alleged affairs and her father’s controlling ways.
Winehouse’s father Mitch has now hit back, alleging Civil has bombarded him with text messages and threatened to stab him.
He says, "She was screaming, ‘If I had a knife I’d stab you’, it was terrifying. She’s like a stalker trying to make our lives hell. She’s blaming my daughter for her son’s failings and she’s out to destroy Amy." The London taxi driver also claims he phoned police after receiving a threatening letter.
According to British tabloid The People, police have confirmed they later gave Georgette Civil an official warning.

OPRAH WARNS RIHANNA TO KEEP DISTANCE FROM BROWN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:39 pm

Talk show queen OPRAH WINFREY has warned RIHANNA against reconciling with boyfriend CHRIS BROWN.
Brown has been charged with two felony charges following his bust-up with the Umbrella hitmaker last month (Feb09).
The Kiss Kiss singer is free on $50,000 (£35,700) bail after he was granted a continuance at his arraignment hearing on Thursday (05Mar09) and is due back in court next month (Apr09).
Reports suggest Rihanna has reconciled with the singer and was in Los Angeles with him prior to the arraignment.
But Winfrey is wary of the pair getting back together - and advises them to have counselling.
She says, "You need somebody to tell you the truth in this moment. And the truth is guys, both Chris Brown and Rihanna, if I were your friend, I would call you up and I would say ‘Give it some time, get yourself some counselling, take care of yourself, heal yourself first.’ "And also, ‘Love doesn’t hurt’. I’ve been saying this to women for years - love doesn’t hurt. And if a man hits you once, he will hit you again. He will hit you again. I don’t care what his plea is, he will hit you again.’" If convicted, Brown faces up to four years and eight months behind bars.

WINSLET USED FOR POLITICAL PARTY ADVERTISING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:36 pm

A picture of KATE WINSLET has landed British political party the Liberal Democrats in hot water - after workers edited the image to make it appear she had attended a party function.
An photo of the Oscar winning beauty on the red carpet at the 2007 Golden Globes was used for an advert for the Liberal Democrats’ conference brochure.
But the image was doctored to appear as though Winslet was at the Liberal Democrats Council Awards at the party’s conference in Yorkshire, England on Friday (06Mar09).
The advert made a joke of Winslet’s speech at this year’s (09) Golden Globes ceremony, reading: "Winning can be emotional." A spokeswoman for the actress confirmed the party had not asked Winslet’s permission to use the photo.
She says, "They did not request permission to use the image and, so far, Kate has not been made aware of its use. I am not aware of her political position." A spokesman for the Liberal Democrats’ local government group - which was behind the advert - says the image does not suggest Winslet supports the Liberal Democrats.
