TYRESE STILL REELING FROM WINNING TRANSFORMERS ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

Singer-turned-actor TYRESE GIBSON is still amazed he is a part of the TRANSFORMERS film franchise - because he used to be obsessed with the cartoon as a child.
Gibson shot to Hollywood stardom after the huge box office success of the 2007 blockbuster, which took $701 million (£497 million) worldwide.
And the star admits he was particularly proud to be involved in the franchise after discovering he’ll get his own action figure to coincide with the release of the film’s sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, this summer (Jun09).
He says, "They’re showing us all the latest toys that are going to be out with the film and everything, it just feels so mega-big. It’s a real honour to be a part of this whole situation. I grew up looking at the Transformers cartoon. I was the little kid with the bowl of cereal in my hand, in my drawers watching Transformers. So it’s crazy!"

  • HEROES BACK FOR FOURTH SERIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

U.S. TV bosses have silenced rumours HEROES is coming to an end - by green lighting a fourth series of the hit show.
Actor Greg Grunberg, who plays mind-reading cop Matt Parkman in the show, recently sparked reports the sci-fi series was being cancelled after three seasons.
Writing on his Twitter.com page on Sunday (01Mar09), he said, "Winding down shooting Season 3 Heroes. Tough to say goodbye to crew not knowing if any or all of us will return next year…" However, Grunberg amended his statement minutes later after an outcry by fans, adding, "Don’t get me wrong, Heroes IS coming back next year, but some crew take other jobs, so it’s tough." And NBC’s Entertainment President Angela Bromstad has now confirmed the network will renew the show next year (10), with 18 to 20 new episodes planned.
She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Every single place you go has heard about Heroes - whether you’re in China or Japan or Russia."

  • HEFNER MADE MADISON’S DANCING DREAMS A REALITY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

Playboy Playmate HOLLY MADISON has her ex HUGH HEFNER to thank for landing her a last minute spot on U.S. reality show DANCING WITH THE STARS - after he put in a call to TV bosses.
Newlywed singer Jewel was forced to pull out of the show on Thursday (05Mar09) after learning she has a fractured tibia in both legs - and Madison has been recruited to step in in her place.
And Hefner admits he "made the arrangements" for his former lover’s dreams to come true.
He tells E! Online blogger Marc Malkin, "It’s a show she’s wanted to be on for a long time. I’m delighted. It’s all good stuff." And Jewel has offered some words of advice to Madison as she prepares to take to the dancefloor when the programme makes its U.S. premiere on Monday (09Mar09): "Listen to your dance partner, don’t have an attitude and pace yourself."

  • NIXON CAN’T IMAGINE SEX AND THE CITY ON BROADWAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

Actress CYNTHIA NIXON has ruled out the idea of turning hit TV show SEX AND THE CITY into a Broadway musical, fearing the excitement of seeing the four main stars together on stage would be too much for fans.
Nixon and her co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall reunited for the big screen adaptation of the hit programme last year (08) and the film went on to gross $401 million (£284 million) worldwide.
The huge box office success of the movie has prompted a sequel, as well as rumours of an all-singing, all-dancing stage production - but Nixon, currently starring in Broadway play Distracted, insists the Sex and the City cast is not set for the theatre.
She tells the New York Daily News, "It would be really hard for people to even see just two of us together on a stage. That would be way too distracting!"

  • THERON’S SHOCK AT TV PHONE CALL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:33 pm

CHARLIZE THERON was left red-faced on a British chatshow when her former dance teacher phoned the programme and revealed the actress’ embarrassing childhood habits.
The Monster star was interviewed by U.K. broadcasters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan on Thursday (05Mar09).
And the segment was going smoothly - until TV bosses made a surprise call to her former dance teacher Bernice Lloyd in Theron’s native South Africa.
But despite heaping praise on her former charge’s ambition, Lloyd left the Oscar-winner cringing with her tales of Theron’s juvenile antics.
She says, "Charlize was a wonderful child. She was always so beautiful and so disciplined and always, always showed entrepreneurial skills.
"She always had these entrepreneurial skills and she used to buy sweets from the school tuck shop and sell them at night to hungry children for a profit. We thought it was wonderful - we, her teachers, thought that showed gumption (initiative)." But Theron was mortified by the revelation, exclaiming, "Oh my god, Bernice! This in insane! "I don’t remember selling candy at a profit! I did start drinking at a very early age, so my memory is a bit dodgy."

  • ALLEN REVEALS FINANCIAL WOES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

Pop star LILY ALLEN has fallen victim to the current global economic downturn - insisting she is "completely broke".
The Smile hitmaker admits she has spent all of her royalty payments from her debut album, 2006’s Alright, Still, splashing her cash on shopping trips and a top of the range sportscar.
But Allen has revealed her extravagances have left her seriously short of money - she has even been forced to sell her beloved $50,000 (£35,000) BMW to help pay her debts.
She says, "I’ve been hit big time by the credit crunch. Actually, I’ve just had to sell my car because I’m so broke. I bought a car last year and that was probably my biggest extravagance. Clothes, too. I’m always buying clothes. I’m completely skint." And the star can’t see an end to her financial problems, as she can’t use any of her credit cards and has been refused a loan from the bank.
She adds, "I’m waiting until I get the royalties from the (new) album and all the radio plays, but that takes about a year. I can’t even spend on credit cards. The banks will usually front your money in that kind of situation, but they are not lending at the moment, so it’s a tricky time."

  • FAITHFULL: ‘RICHARDS HELPED WITH ALBUM OUT OF GUILT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

MARIANNE FAITHFULL has acknowledged ROLLING STONES star KEITH RICHARDS only helped out on her latest album out of guilt - because of the way the band treated her during their heyday.
The singer dated frontman Mick Jagger in the 1960s and spent a great deal of time partying with the rockers, even inspiring some of their most successful hits.
But Faithfull admits the group used her "as an ornament" and puts Richards’ involvement in her new record, Easy Come, Easy Go, down to the guilt he felt over the past.
She says, "Yes, of course (I felt used), probably by the Stones and by Mick. That’s maybe why Keith helped me out with this album. He’s no fool. He knows I was used as an ornament, that I was great for their image. So he’s given me something back." And Faithfull reveals that nearly 40 years after their break-up, she is still on bad terms with Jagger, adding, "I don’t think Mick likes me now."

  • JACKSON ‘HAS THREE-YEAR COMEBACK PLAN’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON’s comeback is expected to extend past his initial ten-date residency in London - he has a $400 million (£283 million), three-year plan to re-conquer the world.
The King of Pop faced thousands of fans on Thursday (05Mar09) to announce his short residency at the O2 Arena in July (09).
Jackson told the crowd and a gallery of reporters that the shows - dubbed "This Is It" - would be his last performances ever in the U.K.
But representatives for concert promoter AEG have revealed the Thriller hitmaker has a gameplan for the relaunch of his career - which will include single releases, new songs, and even a film.
Randy Phillips, head of AEG, says, "We’re talking to him about helping him figure a new plan for the release of singles, new music.
"We have a film development deal that’s part of this to do a film, Thriller 3D." And Phillips reveals the deal with Jackson could pull in huge revenues - if things go to plan.
He adds, "If we complete the full three-and-a-half year plan, he could gross over $400 million in that time. London could be north of $50 million."

  • DENCH AND MIRREN IN THEATRE POWER LIST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

Veteran actresses DAME JUDI DENCH and DAME HELEN MIRREN are among a host of stars named as the most powerful women in theatre.
The two are joined by Rachel Weisz, Rosamund Pike and Gillian Anderson in the prestigious poll, compiled by magazine Harper’s Bazaar.
Among those recognised includes playwrights, leading impresarios and rising stars of the British stage.
Harper’s Bazaar editor Lucy Yeomans says, "The 20 women on our list represent the diversity and brilliance found in this creative industry. As well as including actresses, our list also takes account of the incredible powerhouses who make the productions happen." The X-Files actress Anderson, who is to appear in an upcoming production of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House at the Donmar Warehouse in London, is billed as an "honorary Brit" on the list.
She says, "I have wanted to work on the British stage for most of my life. The opportunity to turn that lingering dream into a reality is the greatest reward. The challenge is to chase that opportunity, despite an equally passionate fear."

  • GALLAGHER’S MONEY FEARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

OASIS star NOEL GALLAGHER fears his drug-taking past cost him a lot of money as he would often go on extravagant shopping sprees while under the influence.
The guitarist admits to using illegal substances during the band’s 1990s heyday, and his wild partying often had a negative influence on his bank balance - he would buy ridiculously expensive items "on a whim".
And Gallagher’s excessive spending even sparked fears at the band’s record label, because he owned a credit card without a limit.
He says, "I do own a black AmEx card that has unlimited credit and cannot be denied anywhere. I could walk into a showroom selling Boeing 747s and regardless of whether I could afford it, they’d have to accept that card.
"When I was taking drugs on a regular basis, it was a frightening experience for the record company.
"You could have literally gone out and bought a house on a whim - and I had more whims than I care to mention."

  • DALTREY SLAMS ANIMAL-LOVING SOCIETY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

THE WHO star ROGER DALTREY has criticised the public for donating money to animal charities while young cancer patients still need help.
The legendary rocker set up his own charity, the Teenage Cancer Trust foundation in 2000, which raises money for specialist care units to treat young adults battling life-threatening illnesses.
Daltrey organises annual benefit concerts to fund the organisation.
But the star admits he is stunned by how many people donate their money to help mistreated animals yet fail to contribute to his own charity efforts.
He says, "It is a blot on our society when, if these teenagers had four legs and fur or feathers we would raise the money in a year. It’s tragic and it makes me want to fight even harder."

  • MORRISSEY INTERROGATED BY IMMIGRATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

British rocker MORRISSEY suffered more bad luck before the start of his world tour on Friday (06Mar09) - he was questioned by U.S. immigration officials in Atlanta upon his arrival in the country.
The former Smiths frontman was due to begin a string of live shows across the globe with a concert in Boca Raton, Florida on Saturday (28Feb09) night but was forced to cancel the gig after falling ill.
He also had to scrap three other Florida shows, in Orlando, Jacksonville, and St. Petersburg, as a result of the mystery illness.
And Morrissey had another hurdle to overcome prior to the rearranged start of his world tour in Myrtle Beach on Friday - he was interrogated by U.S. security chiefs.
He writes on his MySpace blog, "I have survived the interrogation of Atlanta’s Immigration officials and Myrtle Beach shall have me tomorrow nite (Friday), and the world from then onwards… if the world can take it.
"One of the many penalties of being human is that tours often take a military push to start, well, all of our answers will be in our songs tomorrow night. The bloodbath starts at 7.30. Life is testing you out. Be ready for anything."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

Rapper T.I. has hit back at rumours he provided information to cops in order to land a reduced jail sentence for firearms offences.
The Whatever You Like hitmaker, real name Clifford Harris, is due to begin a year-long jail term this month (27Mar09) for illegal weapons possession.
His punishment is widely viewed as lenient, with some people claiming he cut a deal with the authorities in order to receive a reduced sentence.
But the hip-hop star is adamant he did not "snitch" his way out of a harsher punishment.
He tells Vibe magazine, "Ain’t no such thing as a secret snitch. If there was there’d be no need for the witness protection program. Pull up my agreement. It’s public record. Ain’t no way you could hide it, especially being a public figure.
"And as much as people saying that it is happening, don’t you think somebody would have did the research to say, ‘Okay look, we got proof, here it is?’ People just know that it could have been a lot worse and they wanted it to be a lot worse, but lies will never overrule the truth."
