Country singer TRISHA YEARWOOD has hit back at accusations she’s not a "real artist" because she doesn’t write her own songs - insisting music greats like PATSY CLINE never composed their own hits.
The Grammy-winning star reveals she gave up songwriting after trying and failing to be creative as a kid.
But Yearwood insists she shouldn’t be criticised for her lack of writing skills, because she is in good company.
She says, â��Iâ��ve been criticised before. (People say), â��Sheâ��s not a real artist because she doesn’t write her own songsâ��. When you get through listening to Patsy Cline singing I Fall to Pieces, you (don’t) think if she’d only written it, you know it wouldn’t had so much more emotion.
�If I could write a song like that I would record it, but most of my stuff is really bad poetry I wrote in high school that will never ever see the light of day.�

Felony drug charges against LIL WAYNE have been dropped after an Atlanta, Georgia judge granted the rapper’s request to dismiss the case on the grounds of an illegal police search.
The Lollipop hitmaker, real name Dwayne Carter, was arrested in August 2006 at the Twelve Hotel in the city’s Atlantic Station after local police claimed they had found unmarked bottles containing hydrocodone and a generic form of Xanax, along with a small amount of marijuana on the premises.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Michael Johnson dismissed the charges on Tuesday (03Mar09), after Carter’s attorney, William Head, said his client wasn’t staying in the room where the arrest was made.
But the ruling doesn’t leave the Grammy-winner in the clear. Carter is also currently facing drug charges in Arizona, stemming from a January 2008 arrest, and a weapons charge from a 2007 incident in New York.

MEGAN FOX has fuelled rumours her romance with fiance BRIAN AUSTIN GREEN is back on - after signing up to produce a big-screen adaptation of comic book FATHOM with the actor.
The Transformers beauty, 22, was reported to have called off her engagement to former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Green, 35, last week (ends27Feb09), putting an end to their five year relationship.
But the pair has since been photographed out in Los Angeles together, sparking rumours of a reunion - and now they’ve both signed up to work on the new project.
Fox, who will also star in Fathom, will team up with Safran Productions’ Peter Safran, Steve Bessen and Green to take on the film, based on the graphic novels created by the late Michael Turner.
Fathom revolves around lead character Aspen Matthews, a girl with water-based powers who is adopted by a military man after being found abandoned on a ship.
The script will be written by Jordan Mechner and the movie will be executive produced by Frank Mastromauro, reports Variety.com.

Actress MARISKA HARGITAY has been admitted to a New York hospital complaining of chest pains, just two months after suffering a collapsed lung.
The Law & Order: SVU star began experiencing pain on the set of the show on Tuesday (03Mar09) and was taken to hospital after filming finished, reports TMZ.com.
Hargitay, 45, only returned to work in January (09) after she was hospitalised with a collapsed lung, caused by a sledge-riding accident.
Her representative could not be reached to confirm the reports as WENN goes to press.

Aussie pop star NATALIE IMBRUGLIA collaborated with her ex-husband DANIEL JOHNS on her new album, even after they divorced - and she credits him with inspiring and writing the best material.
The couple ended its five-year relationship last January (08), but has remained close friends and continued to work together on Imbruglia’s latest disc, Come to Life.
The 34-year-old Torn hitmaker reveals, "He did some beautiful work on there actually. In fact one of the parts he wrote in one of the songs is my favourite two notes on the whole album. It sounds really weird ,but they run through the whole song, and it makes the whole song for me. (He’s a) very clever boy."

Heavy rockers DECIDE have been forced to postpone their Antipodean tour due to scheduling conflicts.
The death metal group were expected to hit the road in Australia and New Zealand on 10 April (09) for a string of gigs.
But the musicians, along with Aussie tour promoter Soundworks Touring, have apologised to fans after pushing back the shows until October (09), citing recording commitments for their new album.
The cancellation comes just weeks after frontman Glen Benton admitted he couldn’t "go anywhere or do anything" when he was writing lyrics for a new record.
In a recent interview with Express Night Out, the vocalist and bassist explained, "The new record is already recorded; the only thing left is for me to go in and do vocals and my bass tracks.
"Until I sit down and start writing, to me it’s just a bunch of noise until I start separating it with vocal lines and stuff. I have to listen to the stuff over and over and over to figure out how to put the vocal parts on it. When I write, I can’t go anywhere or do anything. I just sit there in front of my laptop with my headphones on and just write." The band and tour promoter have promised fans their tickets will still be valid for the rescheduled dates.

JAMIROQUAI frontman JAY KAY has blasted the mentality of his fellow Britons after a thug vandalised his Ferrari sports car in a rage.
The Virtual Insanity hitmaker blamed the incident on the "British psyche" after chef Andrew Billington admitted smashing the windscreen and a side window of Kay’s $1.4 million (£1 million) Ferrari Enzo.
Billington, 21, told a court in Lowestoft, England he had been drinking with Kay prior to the incident earlier this week (begs02Mar09) and that the singer made "offensive" remarks.
He admitted causing $42,304 (£30,000)-worth of damage to the prestige vehicle by pelting it with stones, and is due to be sentenced at a later date.
Speaking after the hearing, Kay said: "It’s disappointing - that’s all I’ll say. It says something about the British psyche."

Veteran hip-hop star SONNY CHEEBA is lucky to be alive after escaping a serious car crash in North Carolina.
Cheeba and rapper pal Herron were travelling to a gig in Charlotte on Saturday (28Feb09) to join Camp Lo bandmate Geechi Suede on stage when the incident occurred - leaving the car destroyed.
The duo was admitted to a local hospital, but Cheeba’s injuries were so minor, he was able to discharge himself and continue to the Buckhead Saloon venue to join Suede for the show. Herron, who also performed, was not hurt.
A brief statement released by the group reads, "In the collision, Cheeba’s Dodge Charger was totalled and the artist was taken by ambulance to a local hospital." Further details about the accident were unavailable as WENN went to press.

U2 are poised to join the ROLLING STONES, THE BEATLES and ELVIS PRESLEY in the U.K. chart history books this weekend - their new album looks set to become their 10th number one.
No Line on the Horizon is expected to shoot straight to the top of the chart on Sunday (08Mar09), equalling the Rolling Stones’ record.

Former METALLICA rocker DAVE MUSTAINE has turned down the chance to join the band when they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April (09).
Mustaine joined the group in 1981, but left after less than two years because of conflicts caused by his alcohol and drugs consumption.
Mustaine wrote a string of songs during his brief stint as Metallica’s lead guitarist, prompting founding members Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield to invite him to the upcoming ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio.
But touring commitments with his current band Megadeth will force him to stay away.
He writes online, �Metallica, as you know, has been selected to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So, it is with much respect that I say congratulations! �I also had the nice surprise of hearing that they called to invite me to the pre-ceremony party the night before, and then to the actual ceremony. Unfortunately, as you all know, I will be winding down our European tour with Judas Priest, so I will be unable to attend. However, I�d like to say to Lars (Ulrich) and James (Hetfield), I am so very proud of all you have accomplished.

Winston cigarette spokesmodel ALAN LANDERS has died after suffering complications related to treatment for cancer of the larynx. He was 68.
Landers began smoking aged nine, but became a crusader against the habit after contracting lung cancer and heart disease. He passed away on Friday (27Feb09) at his home in Lauderhill, Florida.
Landers sued Winston’s parent company, R. J. Reynolds Tobacco, in 1995, accusing the company of exposing him to health risks without warning. The case is scheduled to go to trial on 13 April (09), while Landers’ lawyer, Norwood S. Wilner, said his family was deciding how to proceed in the case.
During his career, Landers was also hired to promote Tiparillo cigars, and appeared in print campaigns in American magazines including Vogue, Cosmopolitan and GQ.
As an actor, he had a small part in Woody Allen’s 1977 movie Annie Hall and a handful of television series. Landers also ran an acting school in Los Angeles for many years.
He is survived by his brother Jack Levine and one niece.

HARVEY KEITEL, JASON O’MARA and MICHAEL IMPERIOLI’s U.S. sci-fi TV series LIFE ON MARS has been cancelled - just five months after the show first aired.
The American programme, adapted from a popular British series of the same name, began airing in October (08), but has not seen the same success as its U.K. counterpart, which has won BAFTA and Emmy Awards.
On Monday (02Mar09), the three actors teamed up to urge New York State officials to extend their tax credits for film and television production - the same day bosses at TV network ABC announced they would not be ordering a second season, reports Daily Variety.
The final episode is scheduled to air next month (Apr09).

Movie producer ROBERT HAGGIAG has died at the age of 95.
Haggiag passed away on 1 March (09) in Rome, Italy.
The prolific moviemaker, born in Libya, entered the film industry in the 1940s and co-founded Dear Films, which later became an Italian distributor for films made by 20th Century Fox and United Artists.
He went on to produce such films as 1954’s Beat the Devil, starring Humphrey Bogart and 1957’s Legend Of The Lost, which paired up John Wayne and Sophia Loren on-screen.
He also produced 1954’s The Barefoot Contessa, starring Bogart and Ava Gardner, which went on to win a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Edmond O’Brien in 1955.
In 1965, he received the best producer David di Donatello award, Italy’s top industry honour.
Haggiag is survived by his wife Mirella and their three sons, Michael and Simone, who are both producers, and Jacopo.

Reality TV star siblings KHLOE and KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN stunned revellers at a recent party by throwing thousands of dollars into the crowd from a nightclub balcony in Miami, Florida.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians stars were partying in the city’s club LIV when it began raining single dollar bills, totalling about $3,000 (£2,130), according to the New York Daily News.
A partygoer tells the paper, "Money started falling from the ceiling! It just kept coming and coming, and when I looked up, I saw the Kardashians."

A thug who stabbed HARRY POTTER actor ROBERT KNOX to death in an horrific revenge attack is facing life in jail after he was found guilty of murder.
Karl Bishop, 22, plunged a blade into the 18-year-old actor five times outside a nightclub in Kent, England in May last year (08).
Bishop - who has previous convictions for knife offences - had earlier been involved in a huge bust-up with Knox’s 17-year-old brother Jamie.
After the argument, he returned home to arm himself with two kitchen knives before heading back to the bar to confront Knox and his brother.
Bystanders saw Bishop’s face "screwed up in rage" as he lashed out the pair and their friends, stabbing his victims up to ten times in less than two minutes.
The jury was told of Knox’s "courage and sense of duty" as he tried to protect his younger brother - but his bravery led to his death.
Prosecutor Brian Altman QC told the court the aspiring actor’s life was brought to an end by Bishop, an "habitual knife carrier" who saw stabbing people as nothing more than an "occupational hazard".
In addition to Knox’s murder, Bishop was also convicted of wounding Knox’s friend Dean Saunders during the attack, leaving the 23-year-old with permanent spinal damage. He was cleared of wounding another man, Tom Hopkins.
Bishop will be sentenced at a later date.
Knox completed filming the role of Marcus Belby in Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince just days before his death.
His funeral was attended by hundreds of mourners, including co-star Rupert Grint, who watched Knox’s father tell the gathered crowds his late son had been "living the dream" after landing the part.

HARRY POTTER star DANIEL RADCLIFFE has defied the current global economic crisis by earning nearly $5 million (£3.45 million) last year (08).
The 19-year-old star’s company, Gilmore Jacobs, published its accounts on Tuesday (03Mar09), revealing the young actor’s firm is worth $18,651,747 million (£12,863,274 million).

Rapper FLO RIDA has dashed rumours he scrapped a collaboration with scandal-hit CHRIS BROWN from his forthcoming album because of the singer’s alleged attack on RIHANNA.
The hip-hop star admits he did pull the track, called Sweat, from new album R.O.O.T.S. - but insists the decision was not based on the controversy surrounding Brown, who has been charged with making criminal threats following an alleged bust-up with Rihanna on 8 February (09).
Flo Rida tells Us Weekly, "I think someone must have got it twisted. The thing was, we have deadlines to meet and between his business and my business, things were - we had to turn an album, so I had to really get everything together." And the Low hitmaker adds that Brown’s track wasn’t the only song axed: "It’s not just that record, there were other records that couldn’t make the album that I wanted to make the album as well, but that was the process - this was way before me ever hearing anything about (Brown allegedly attacking Rihanna). This was way before, at least a month. I had been done with this record." And despite having cut the tune, Flo Rida maintains he was impressed by Brown’s work: "He’s a talented artist, so I looked forward to working with him. And I thought it was a hot song."

PAULA ABDUL is facing legal action from a woman who alleges a broken pathway at the singer’s home caused her to trip and fall during recording of her former reality show HEY PAULA.
Jill Kohl is suing the American Idol judge over claims she tumbled down Abdul’s driveway because the walk "was in a dangerous and defective condition", according to the lawsuit filed Monday (02Mar09) in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Kohl is seeking damages in excess of $25,000 (£17,800) from Abdul and the studios behind the TV series, Bravo Television and NBC Universal, reports TMZ.com.
