WEST’S STORYTELLERS SHOW CUT DOWN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:24 pm

TV producers have been forced to heavily edit a forthcoming KANYE WEST documentary after the rapper allegedly ranted about RADIOHEAD and defended embattled singer CHRIS BROWN during filming.
The outspoken rapper was especially candid while recording an episode of the VH1 show Storytellers - which features artists discussing the meaning behind their songs - in Los Angeles on 13 February (09).
He was said to have told the audience he was "hurt" when Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke supposedly snubbed him at this year’s (09) Grammy Awards.
West explained: "So when he (Yorke) performed at the Grammys, I sat the f**k down." He is also alleged to have discussed Brown, referring to his alleged fight with Rihanna, asking the crowd: "Can’t we give Chris a break? I know I make mistakes in life." But the controversial remarks have been axed - with producers insisting there wasn’t enough time in the 90-minute show to broadcast all the rapper’s comments.
Executive producer Bill Flanagan says, "A lot of the stories that Kanye told went long. I tried to get the essence of his comments."

KUTCHER HONOURS RADIO STAR HARVEY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:21 pm

Actor ASHTON KUTCHER has written a touching tribute to PAUL HARVEY, crediting the late radio broadcaster with teaching him the art of storytelling.
Harvey, whose programmes aired in the U.S. for more than 60 years, died on Saturday (28Feb09) at the age of 90.
And Kutcher, who grew up listening to Harvey’s on-air commentaries, insists the broadcasts helped shape his approach to acting.
He writes on his official MySpace blog: "Today I celebrate the life and mourn the loss of one of our greatest storytellers. Paul Harvey enriched my life through his gifted voice and ability to deliver a tale with the most unsuspecting ending I’d ever heard.
"He made the countless hours of driving back and forth (to) my grandparents’ house on Sunday morning bearable. I would sit in the back seat of the car, choking on my parents’ cigarette smoke, hanging on to his every last word…
"It was like he was watching your reaction and knew that he had you hooked. I always felt like he was the smartest, wittiest person in the car.
"He would take you on a roller coaster of peaks and valleys (and) as we drove it felt like he had choreographed it to the road we travelled. And in the end we were allowed to find out ‘the rest of the story’ which we never saw coming. Thank you Paul for teaching me how to tell a story."

JACKSON’S SONGS WAITING FOR POSTHUMOUS RELEASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:21 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON has recorded more than 100 songs in secret - but is refusing to release the tracks until after his death, according to a biographer.
The Thriller singer has amassed a stack of tunes but only wants them to be heard by his children - Prince, 11, Paris Katherine, 10, and five-year-old Prince Michael II - after he dies, according to Ian Halperin, author of forthcoming book Unmasked, The Michael Jackson Story.
Halperin says, "I was astonished by the number of songs which have been held back.
"I was told that he will not let them come out now but wants to leave them for his kids, a very personal legacy to them."

BONO LEAVES DOWNLOAD DEBATE TO YOUNGER MUSICIANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:21 pm

U2 frontman BONO feels he is too old to get involved in the illegal music downloading debate because he is already campaigning for enough issues.
The singer has been involved in charity campaigns and philanthropic activities for many years, setting up numerous projects for Africa, organising benefit concerts and meeting world leaders.
But the Irish rocker is reluctant to take on the issue of music downloads.
He says, "There were huge tactical errors made by the music industry. It was for younger bands to take on the the fight against illegal downloading but they were fooled into thinking it wasn’t hip. I wasn’t going to get involved because I’m on enough soap boxes as it is." Bono’s constant campaigning has put a strain on U2, with the singer recently admitting his bandmates fear his side projects may eventually overshadow the group and end their music career.

But Keating nearly withdrew from the trip - when his connecting plane from Dublin, Ireland was delayed by an hour and a half.
A spokeswoman for Comic Relief, the charity organising the trek, says: "Ronan nearly didn’t make it; it was touch and go.
"His flight from Dublin was delayed and once he did arrive at Heathrow he had to be driven over to the plane. Luckily he was just in time."

ODB MANAGER SUES BOOK PUBLISHERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:18 pm

The former manager of OL’ DIRTY BASTARD is suing a U.S. publishing company over allegedly defamatory comments made about him in the late rapper’s biography.
Jarred Weisfeld filed a lawsuit against Macmillian Publishers and its affiliates on Tuesday (24Feb09), accusing the parties of using anti-Semitic descriptions in their 2008 book Digging For Dirt - The Life And Death Of ODB.
The biography describes Weisfeld as a “grinning, shady-looking white guy” who “slinked onstage looking like he had just been bar mitzvahed", according to the lawsuit.
The book also claims Weisfeld forced the rapper to film a reality show in his "dying days" and when on "the brink of suicide" - allegations Weisfeld claims link him to his former client’s untimely death from a drug overdose in 2004.
Weisfeld is seeking $10 million (£7 million) for damages to his reputation in the music industry, reports AllHipHop.com.

SIEGFRIED & ROY TAKE FINAL BOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:15 pm

Legendary magicians SIEGFRIED & ROY took their final bow on Saturday (28Feb09), in a Las Vegas stage performance featuring the Bengal tiger that cut short their career five years ago.
The German-born pair - Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn - had not performed their long-running double act since Horn was mauled by a 380-pound tiger in front of a Las Vegas audience in October 2003.
The performer was partially paralysed, suffering a damaged neck artery and crushed windpipe after the animal bit into his throat.
But Horn, 64, returned to the stage with Fischbacher, 69, for their final 10-minute trick at a benefit dinner at the Bellagio Hotel-Casino on Saturday (28Feb09).
The illusionists’ manager Bernie Yuman says, "The last time we closed, we didn’t have a lot of warning. This is farewell. This is the dot at the end of the sentence."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:15 pm

The father of one of SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE’s young Indian actors has apologised for beating his son in front of reporters a day after the youngster returned from the Oscars.
Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, 10, was flown out to Los Angeles by movie bosses to walk the red carpet at last Sunday’s (22Feb09) Academy Awards.
And after seeing the movie pick up a staggering eight trophies, the youngster returned to his native Mumbai, India on Thursday (26Feb09) to a hero’s welcome.
But just a day after his triumphant return, pictures have surfaced showing Azharuddin receiving a brutal beating at the hands of his father, Ismail.
The shocking images show the child cowered in the corner of his home, holding his face after allegedly being slapped and kicked by his dad.
The incident came on Friday (27Feb09) afternoon after Azharuddin reportedly refused to speak to the press gathered outside the family home.
And now Azharuddin’s father Ismail has apologised for his actions, saying, "I was very sorry that I did what I did. I was so confused and stressed by my son’s homecoming that I did not know myself for a minute. I love my boy and I am very happy to have him home."
