PETE DOHERTY has announced plans to reform THE LIBERTINES after patching up his differences with ex bandmate CARL BARAT.
The band split acrimoniously in 2004 due to Doherty’s drug addictions; he went on to form Babyshambles while Barat fronted the Dirty Pretty Things.
Doherty was keen to reform the band earlier this year (09) after being offered substantial amounts to return for a series of U.K. festival performances.
Barat initially decided to opt out, expressing concerns over his old partner’s behaviour - but has now agreed to the reunion after much persuasion from Doherty.
Doherty says, "The Libertines is going to happen. I didn’t twist Carl’s arm too far. He doesn’t take kindly to it. He’s not harder than me, but he’s got a nasty streak. Twist it too far and it’ll snap."

THE ROOTS frontman BLACK THOUGHT will make his acting debut in forthcoming movie EXPLICIT ILLS.
The rapper, real name Tariq Trotter, will join a cast led by Rosario Dawson for the independent drama, about characters in interconnected stories trying to overcome their struggles in Philadelphia.
Trotter will play Kaleef, a budding entrepreneur who works to turn his health store into a success while finding love with a single mum, portrayed by Naomie Harris.
The movie is due to be released in March (09).

FRANZ FERDINAND frontman ALEX KAPRANOS refuses to discuss his personal life in interviews after an obsessive fan used information he’d revealed against him.
The Take Me Out singer won’t go into details about what the "crazy stalker fan" found out about him, or how he thwarted her efforts to expose the information - but the experience made him much more careful about what he tells interviewers.
Kapranos explains, "I had a really horrible experience a couple of years ago. Some crazy stalker fan got access to some really personal details of my life.
"The idea that there are people who aren’t just satisfied with listening to the music - that they want to suck out the very essence of my soul, like some vampire - made me want to withdraw further." He tells Spin magazine, "I’ve decided I can’t talk about certain parts of my personal life… It’s very difficult for me because I have this desire to be honest and open."

Veteran HEART rockers ANN and NANCY WILSON are to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award from a prestigious songwriters’ group.
The sisters, the only constant members of the group, will receive the Founders Award during publishing rights group ASCAP’s annual pop music awards in Hollywood on 22 April (09).
Singer Ann Wilson, 58, and guitarist Nancy, 54, found fame in the 1970s with hits such as Crazy On You and Magic Man.
ASCAP president Marilyn Bergman says, "Their success and influence helped pave the way for other female artists, and they continue to build their musical legacy with an artistic energy that remains as strong today as when they first started out over 35 years ago." Past recipients of the award include Elvis Costello, Billy Joel, Annie Lennox, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder.

FLEETWOOD MAC’s stars have given up all hope of bringing CHRISTINE MCVIE back to the band - because the singer refuses to leave England.
Stevie Nicks was missing the other girl in the band so much, she asked Sheryl Crow to join the group for an upcoming tour - and she realises McVie will never be back.
The singer says, "We can’t hang out, because she lives in England, and she won’t fly… I miss her every day.
"We’ve all finally started to accept that nothing could make Chris go back out on the road."

Rap mogul RUSSELL SIMMONS has agreed to pay $40,000 (£28,000) in child support a month to ex-wife KIMORA LEE SIMMONS, according to court papers filed on Thursday (26Feb09).
Los Angeles Superior Court judge Marjorie Steinberg signed off on an agreement giving Kimora Lee Simmons sole custody of the couple’s two daughters Ming, 9, and Aoki, 6.
The pair’s 10-year marriage officially came to an end when their divorce was finalised last month (Jan09).
Simmons has been granted visitation rights and will pay child support for his daughters of $20,000 (£14,000) each per month until the girls turn 19, according to People.com.
Simmons has also agreed to provide a new car for the children to travel in, worth at least $60,000 (£42,000), until they turn 16, with the car replaced every three years.
Kimora Lee and her new boyfriend, actor Djimon Hounsou, are expecting their first child together. Def Jam co-founder Simmons has recently been linked to model Porschla Coleman.

ANNE HATHAWAY has learned to love her pale skin - after a tanning experience went horribly wrong.
The Devil Wears Prada star is renowned for her pasty complexion, but the petite actress once decided to go a bit darker.
But Hathaway ended up regretting her decision when she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror.
She says, "I had a spray tan done and I wound up looking like an orange zebra. When it came off, because I’m so pale underneath, I looked like a giraffe with leprosy. And I smelled like nachos and maple syrup the whole time. It was not a good idea."

Classic children’s movie THE NEVERENDING STORY is set for a remake.
The 1984 fantasy, based on the German book of the same name, was directed by Wolfgang Petersen and starred Barret Oliver and Noah Hathaway.
It went on to spawn two sequels, 1990’s The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter, and 1996’s The NeverEnding Story 3: Escape From Fantasia.
Movie executives at Warner Bros. and the Kennedy/Marshall Co. are now in talks to bring the tale up to date for a new generation of cinema goers.

Supermodel GISELE BUNDCHEN has married her American football star partner TOM BRADY, according to U.S. reports.
The pair wed in Santa Monica, California in a small, intimate Catholic ceremony in front of close family on Thursday (26Feb09), Us Weekly magazine has reported.
The couple has been dating since Brady split from actress Bridget Moynahan in 2006, with whom he shares a 16-month-old son.
Bundchen has previously been linked to Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

BRAD PITT has a reason to smile despite losing out on the Best Actor Oscar on Sunday (22Feb09) - he’s been sent a solid dark chocolate bust in his likeness as a consolation prize from deodorant brand Axe.
The Hollywood star was nominated for an Academy Award his role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but lost out to Sean Penn for his performance in Milk.
Bosses at Axe decided to reward Pitt with a statuette of his own - and the sweet treat, to promote their new Dark Temptation fragrance, weighed in at a whopping 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms).
An accompanying note read: "We still feel your performance deserves a statue, one that’s a bit sweeter."

R&B singer CHRIS BROWN’s career has taken another knock - CIARA has reportedly scrapped plans for a duet with the troubled star following his alleged altercation with girlfriend RIHANNA.
The Kiss Kiss star was charged with making criminal threats following a reported attack on Umbrella hitmaker Rihanna after a pre-Grammys party on 8 February (09).
Rapper Flo Rida has already pulled his collaboration with Brown from his forthcoming album R.O.O.T.S. - and now Goodies singer Ciara has hinted she’s followed suit.
Ciara’s track Turntables was due to feature vocals by Brown - but she now claims the tune will be heard "a little bit differently", prompting rumours she’s re-recorded over his contributions.
She says, "Turntables will be on the album. Now you may hear it a little bit differently than what you’ve heard it, but in a cool way."

Hollywood couple WILL SMITH and JADA PINKETT SMITH have a new fan in U.S. First Lady MICHELLE OBAMA - because the couple has such a "strong family".
The First Couple has a long list of celebrity supporters - Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Bruce Springsteen and Renee Zellweger all travelled to Washington D.C. last month (Jan09) to witness Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony.

She adds, "We met a lot of great people over the Inauguration - Tom Hanks. I was pretty starstruck over him and his wife. I get starstruck around (TV personality) Barbara Walters and folks like that. I try to play it off, but they’re pretty impressive." The Smiths, who married in December 1997, are parents to 10-year-old son Jaden, eight-year-old daughter Willow, and the actor’s 16-year-old son, Trey, from his first marriage.

NICK CANNON has won over producers as the new host of U.S. TV show AMERICA’S GOT TALENT - by enlisting his wife MARIAH CAREY to make a guest appearance.
TV bosses announced the actor/rapper would replace Jerry Springer as the show’s MC earlier this month (Feb09).
And, according to America’s In Touch magazine, Carey has agreed to join existing judges Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff for a one-off episode this summer (09).
An insider says, "Mariah is a superstar and rarely does TV appearances, but this is for her husband. In addition to her stint as a guest judge, she’s even planning on being a regular in the audience." The couple wed in April (08) after a whirlwind romance.

Famed photographer MARIO TESTINO got physical to create the iconic image of MADONNA on her RAY OF LIGHT record cover - he kicked her into position.
The celebrity snapper worked with the Material Girl star to come up with an image for her now famous 1998 album cover sleeve.
But the photo shoot wasn’t an easy one - with Testino having to physically tackle the notoriously tough singer to convince her to keep posing.
He says, "At 2pm she (Madonna) said, ‘OK, I’m tired. We’re done.’ And I said, ‘But I don’t have the pictures yet.’ She said, ‘You’re working for me and I say we’re done.’ I said, ‘No, we carry on.’ "The picture she used on the cover came after that. She didn’t intimidate me, you see. I thought, I have to push my luck here, so I started kicking her like this, with my foot. She was like, ‘Hey, what are you doing?’ And I was, like, move here, move here,’ and suddenly this created an intimacy. When these people come across someone who treats them as an equal, it puts them at ease."

Rapper TWISTA has signed to record label EMI.
The hip-hop star left Atlantic Records in 2007 and launched his own label, Get Money Gang Entertainment, in 2008.
However, the Slow Jamz hitmaker has now secured a distribution deal with EMI that will see his forthcoming album Category F5 released in a joint venture with Get Money Gang, EMI and Capitol Records.
Twista says in a statement, "We are very pleased to be in busines with EMI and Capitol. I am excited about being independent again but having the resources of a major.
"The hustle never stops. Over the last couple of years, I’ve just been thinking about what the fans want from me. And that was motivation enough to bring out another classic album." The disc is scheduled for release in June (09).

Rap superstar LIL WAYNE is reportedly facing an uphill struggle to have his experimental rock album released on Universal Records, because label bosses fear it will be a flop.
The Lollipop hitmaker has already seen his forthcoming disc Rebirth pushed back from its original release date of 7 April (09) to 19 May (09).
The first single from the project, Prom Queen, dropped in January (09) - but only reached number 15 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
And now it’s rumoured Lil Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant has been advised against letting the star press ahead with the CD.
A source tells ThisIs50.com, "If Wayne doesn’t brighten up, they have to turn into Mr. Evil Record Company and just tell him it’s never going to be released."

Funnyman MIKE MYERS has been offered the chance to redeem himself by the religious leaders who boycotted his flop film THE LOVE GURU.
Hindu scholars are beginning to feel sorry for Myers after the film picked up three dishonours at the Golden Raspberry Awards last weekend (21Feb09) - and they’re offering the comic the chance to reverse his fortunes and get Hindus back on his side.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who led the protests against The Love Guru for lampooning Hinduism, says, "If Myers visited a Hindu temple, paid his obeisance, expressed remorse, and promised not to denigrate Hinduism in his future movies, Hindus would not only absolve him but might also pray for his success in his future ventures." As well as landing the Worst Film Razzie a week ago, Myers was also named the Worst Actor and he also picked up the Worst Screenplay dishonour.
Zed adds, "It (The Love Guru) was one of the big disasters of the year. He managed to offend the entire Indian population.
"Although Myers’ temple visit would not undo the damage done to the community, it might help heal the wounds."

U.S. reality TV hunk JASON WAHLER has called off his engagement to KATJA DECKER SADOWSKI.
The 22-year-old, who previously dated The Hills co-star Lauren Conrad, reveals he and his fiancee, 21, have decided they’re too young for a committed romance.
