Rapper JUELZ SANTANA has blasted his former pal CAM’RON for alleging he has a drug addiction - insisting the DIPSET frontman is only creating controversy to promote his forthcoming album.
Cam’ron recently claimed in a magazine interview that his ex-protege Santana was constantly sipping on ’syrup’ - the potentially fatal mix of prescription cough medicine and juice.
He told XXL, "Juelz started drinking syrup - Robitussin. He got hooked onto it, addicted to it… We already smoked mad (a lot of) weed; you don’t need to be on Robitussin." But Santana has dismissed the claims and is adamant he was never hooked on the lethal cocktail. He insists he has no hard feelings towards Cam’ron, and just wishes the two men could discuss their issues face-to-face.
Santana tells MTV.com, "He just wanted to say something and that was probably the only way he could… (to) keep his character up.
"I was never addicted to syrup. I used to drink it on occasion. I don’t know where that (his comments) came from. They were a shocker to me, like, ‘Damn, you would stoop low like that?’ "But it’s cool with me. I still wish him the best. But that syrup comment - I didn’t understand where that came from.
"He has an album coming out - April (09), right? I kind of understand where it came from now. At the end of the day, if he was so much of a brother, he could have just called me or sat me down, not trying to call this person and that person… C’mon man. He knows I ain’t (sic) buying it."

BARRY MANILOW has been inducted into New York’s legendary Friars Club - following in the footsteps of FRANK SINATRA, BILLY CRYSTAL and WHOOPI GOLDBERG.
The Copacabana singer, 65, was honoured on Saturday (14Feb09) by the private club - formerly the Press Agents’ Association - which is known for paying mocking tributes, known as ‘roasts’, to its members.
But Manilow, who was recognised for his chart-topping career, admitted he was relieved he had avoided being made fun of by his famous peers.
Accepting the honour, he told the crowd: "Thank you so much for not roasting me. I’ve been roasted every day since ‘Mandy’ came out. As I get older, I realise what my music has meant to people. It’s overwhelming. Thank you for this."

BRAD PITT’s THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON has kept its place at the top of the box office charts outside the U.S., with weekend takings of $31 million (£22 million) in 53 markets.
The films, which tells the story of a man who ages backwards, debuted at number one in Italy, South Korea and Taiwan to enjoy a second consecutive week atop the international charts.
Disney animated movie Bolt took the second spot, garnering $16.5 million (£11.6 million) from 38 territories, while Valkyrie came in third with $11.9 million (£8.4 million) in 55 markets.
Romantic comedy He’s Just Not That Into You took the fourth spot with takings of $11.4 million (£8 million) in 16 markets.
Horror film remake Friday the 13th rounded out the top five, grabbing $10.4 million (£7.3 million) in 30 territories.

Wrestler-turned-movie star THE ROCK has been hired to protect Hollywood heartthrob ZAC EFRON - the pair will reportedly team up in the big screen adaptation of 1960s animated classic THE ADVENTURES OF JOHNNY QUEST.
The Rock - real name Dwayne Johnson - has confirmed he is set to play Race Bannon, the cartoon series’ tough guy special agent who is hired to guard and train Johnny Quest, an 11-year-old who accompanies his doctor father on amazing adventures.
And Johnson couldn’t resist the action man role - insisting the script is one of the best he has ever be offered.
He tells Moviehole, "I don’t know if you’ve read the latest (draft) but it’s awesome and it’s badass and I haven’t read, this is what I told everyone over at Warner Bros., and I love the studio too by the way, you know, I had my experience with them with Get Smart and they were great, I hadn’t read an action script like that in a long time. And that action was unbelievable. That will happen.'’ But despite Efron not actually having officially signed for the schoolboy role, he has hinted he would love the part - despite being ten years too old.
He says, ‘’I loved Jonny Quest when I was a kid. If you go a little older, it gives you more, it allows you to be…it just gives you a bit more, you know. "

MADONNA is poised for another shot at acting - the Queen of Pop is reportedly set to star as American socialite WALLIS SIMPSON, the woman who almost tore the British Royal family apart in the 1930s.
The Holiday hitmaker’s 1996 turn in the film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Evita was well received by critics.
Subsequent movies, including The Next Best Thing in 2000, and 2002’s Swept Away, which was directed by then-husband Guy Ritchie, were panned.
But now the Material Girl is looking to reinvent her big-screen career by starring as Simpson.
The beauty had an affair with Britain’s King Edward VIII - and as a result he abdicated the throne to be with her in 1936, sparking a constitutional crisis in the U.K.
A source tells The Sun newspaper, "Madonna sees Wallis Simpson as her next big film project. She is as passionate about it as she was about playing Eva Peron in Evita.
"Madonna said she is fascinated about this American commoner who refused to conform or offer explanations for her tangled love life." The source adds that Madonna plans to throw herself back into her career once her split from Ritchie is behind her: "It was all systems go until the divorce, when everything was put on the back-burner. When things in her life settle down this year, she’s keen to get things going again."

Actress SALMA HAYEK has wed her longterm partner in a romantic ceremony on Valentine’s Day (14Feb09), in Paris, France.
The Frida star married French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault on Saturday (14Feb09) at the City Hall of the (district) Sixth Arrondissement, in the country’s capital.
The news was reported on Monday (16Feb09) by Le Point newspaper, which the entrepreneur owns, and later confirmed by Mayor Jean-Pierre Lecoq.
The pair originally announced their engagement in March, 2007, but called it off in July, 2008.
They have a 16-month-old daughter, Valentina.

Actress MISCHA BARTON has dismissed reports she and rocker LUKE PRITCHARD have split - by spending an intimate Valentine’s Day in New York together.

Oscars host HUGH JACKMAN is praying late actor HEATH LEDGER walks away with a posthumous Academy Award - because the honour would be "fitting" to the star’s memory.
Ledger, who died from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008, achieved huge critical acclaim for his turn as The Joker in Batman movie The Dark Knight.
He was honoured with the Best Supporting Actor trophy at last month’s (11Jan09) Golden Globes and won the same prize at the BAFTA awards earlier this month (08Feb09).
Ledger looks set to land a posthumous Oscar for his portrayal of the comic book villain - and Jackman insists he would love his late fellow countryman to get the honour.

Teen sensation MILEY CYRUS was left red-faced during a live TV performance on Saturday night (14Feb09) - after forgetting the lyrics to new song FLY ON THE WALL.

Bookmakers in England have suspended betting on a Brit Awards category - after a flurry of wagers on PAUL WELLER led to fears the result has leaked.
The legendary British rocker, 50, is nominated alongside singers Will Young, Ian Brown, The Streets - aka rapper Mike Skinner - and James Morrison for the Best Male prize at the ceremony in London on Wednesday (18Feb09).
But bets on former The Jam frontman Weller taking home the award have been suspended after an avalanche of stakes were placed in just a few hours on Sunday (15Feb09).
British bookies Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, and Tote have all stopped taking wagers on Weller, while bosses at William Hill have slashed the star’s odds from 5/1 to 1/5 favourite.
A source tells Britain’s The Mirror newspaper, "This kind of behaviour only happens when someone knows something."

Pop star PINK is so devastated by the infernos in Australia she is planning to donate $250,000 (£175,000) to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.
Hollywood couple Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have already pledged $500,000 (£333,300) to the charity in an effort to help their fellow Australians who were left homeless by the disaster.
And now Pink has offered her support to those affected by the tragedy, which killed more than 180 people and destroyed more than 1,000 properties.
She says, "There is little anyone can do at such a long distance away but I wanted to make a tangible expression of support. My heart goes out to all those who have suffered so much in these circumstances… and hope that this (donation), amongst all the other outpouring of charitable support, will help the rebuilding of lives and communities in the areas affected. I’m looking forward to returning to a country I love so much."

Rapper LIL WAYNE is facing a lawsuit from a disgruntled promoter for cancelling a planned show in New York three times.
The Lollipop hitmaker, real name Dwayne Carter Jr., was originally due to perform in Rochester, New York on 26 October (08) before pulling the gig at the last minute due to problems with the sound.
Two further dates have since been cancelled for differing reasons - and now concert promoter RMF Productions has filed a legal document against the rapper for scrapping the show, according to TMZ.com.
Edward Strickland, General Manager of RMF Productions, is seeking $1.3 million (£800,000) in compensation, naming Lil Wayne, his manager and others in the lawsuit.
No further details were available as WENN went to press.
