Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

An affiliate of COREY ‘C-MURDER’ MILLER has pleaded guilty to witness tampering charges in a Louisiana court, in relation to the troubled rapper’s 2002 murder trial.
Miller, the brother of rap mogul Master P, is accused of shooting dead 16 year old Steve Thomas in 2002.
He was convicted of second-degree murder in 2003 and handed a life sentence, but it was declared a mistrial in 2006.
However, it has now emerged that Miller’s associate Dwayne ‘Wango’ Cobbins threatened to use force to influence a member of the original trial jury. Miller was also accused of the same crime, but was never officially charged.
The exact nature of Cobbins’ threats have not been disclosed and no further details were available as WENN went to press.

U2 GUITARIST CLASHED WITH BONO OVER BUSH MEETING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

U2 rocker THE EDGE tried to convince frontman BONO not to meet former U.S. President GEORGE W. BUSH to discuss poverty in Africa - because it was an "uncool" image for the band.
The guitarist knew the Beautiful Day singer would have "custard pies" thrown at him for holding talks with the controversial Republican in a bid to ease the plight of less economically developed nations.
But he is glad Bono ignored his advice - because he proved his critics wrong.
The Edge, real name David Evans, tells music magazine NME, "Hanging out with George W. Bush - which he knew was uncool, deeply unpopular in certain quarters - he knew for his own reasons that it would get results. And he was right. The amount of extra American investment in African development that occurred during that administration, compared to even the Clinton administration, was huge.
"A large part of why that happened was because Bono was willing to be in the photographs, take the meetings and make it a popular issue.
"I mean, I tried to talk him out of meeting George W. Bush when he told me he was going to do a photograph with him. And he said, ‘Well, I think it’s the right thing to do’. So, in the end, I kind of just said my piece and let him get on with it.
"You have to understand that the man actually wants to save people’s lives! But anyway, he was right. He proved me wrong… again!"

ESTELLE DENIES ADELE/DUFFY FEUD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

R&B singer ESTELLE has dismissed reports she has fallen out with fellow British stars ADELE and DUFFY, despite slamming the duo for labelling their music "soul".
The American Boy hitmaker stands by her previous comments, insisting she still doesn’t approve of white singers performing music originally associated with black performers.
But Estelle insists she isn’t angry with fellow Grammy Award winners Adele and Duffy.
She says, "I presented Adele with her (Grammy) award and I’d have refused to do that if I didn’t like her. Everyone was expecting a big moment between us, but we just hugged. I don’t agree with her and Duffy being called ’soul’, but that’s just my opinion. On a personal level, I think they’re great."

DAME VERA LYNN FURIOUS OVER NATIONALIST PARTY LINK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

Former armed forces’ sweetheart DAME VERA LYNN is considering suing a controversial political party after it used two of her songs on a compilation CD.
Lynn found fame during the Second World War and became one of the most popular and high profile troop entertainers.
Now 91, the singer is furious members of the ultra conservative British National Party (BNP) are using her to promote a new CD, which they have named after one of her most famous songs, The White Cliffs of Dover, and features one of her tracks, All Alone in Vienna.
Lynn’s lawyer Nigel Angel says, "Her position is that the song was included without her approval. She does not align with any political party. I will be discussing it with her further." But BNP deputy leader Simon Darby insists the party is legally entitled to include her music: "It is a commercially available piece of music and it is not as if we have bootlegged it. It is something you could buy off Amazon and we are proud to stock. There are a number of songs on the album and by no means are we implying Dame Vera is a nationalist."

JAILED SHYNE TO GET EARLY RELEASE?

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

Incarcerated rapper SHYNE is eyeing an April (09) release from jail after serving eight years of a decade-long sentence for first degree assault and reckless endangerment.
The former Bad Boy Records artist was convicted of the charges in 2001, following a December 1999 shooting in Club New York in the Big Apple which left a woman with serious facial injuries.
Shyne, real name Jamal Barrow, is currently being held at Woodbourne Correctional Facility in Sullivan County, New York, and has been making the most of his free time by participating in educational activities.
He is due back in court for a parole hearing in June (09), but his lawyer Oscar Michelen claims he could walk free sooner than expected.
Michelen tells HipHopDX.com, "We’re hoping for April. He’s had no problems, been very positive…
"There’s a dinner in honour of African-American History Month so Barrow’s participating in that. And he’s also co-ordinating, getting some speakers to talk about how things have affected the criminal justice system in the last few years.
"So he’s always been involved in many positive things at the jail and has never had a problem at all whatsoever. So he’d be the perfect candidate for parole. The only knock against him was that he was convicted of a crime that was considered a violent crime." Bad Boy boss Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and his bodyguard Anthony ‘Wolf’ Jones were also charged in the shooting but were acquitted on all counts.
The victim of the shooting, Natania Reuben, filed a $130 million (£91.5 million) lawsuit for compensation against Combs and Barrow last year (08); the suit is still pending.

WINSLET NEARLY MISSED THE READER ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 pm

KATE WINSLET nearly missed out on her Oscar-nominated turn in THE READER - as movie bosses feared she was too busy filming REVOLUTIONARY ROAD to accept the role.
Film mogul Harvey Weinstein, whose company was behind the critically acclaimed picture, has revealed producers spoke to three other actresses before turning to Winslet.
Nicole Kidman was originally signed to the movie, but was forced to quit after she fell pregnant with her daughter, Sunday Rose, who was born last year (08).
Producers then turned to Marion Cotillard and Naomi Watts, before director Stephen Daldry suggested Winslet for the lead.
Weinstein says, "Before Kate came onboard, Anthony Minghella, myself and (producer) Scott Rudin had a conversation.
"I said ‘Scott, she’s got Revolutionary Road. I think we should have insurance.’ "I had Marion Cotillard, the French actress, go to Germany and shoot a screen test. She was great. Then we contacted Naomi Watts. She’s available. Then we redid the conversation and said these people are available.
"(But) Stephen Daldry wanted to work with Kate." Winslet has already won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for her performance as a concentration camp guard in The Reader and will compete for the Best Actress honour at the upcoming Academy Awards on Sunday (22Feb09).

British actress DAME JUDI DENCH once bared her backside to movie mogul HARVEY WEINSTEIN to show off a temporary tattoo she had inked in his honour.
The 74-year-old starred in a string of Weinstein-produced pictures and earned a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award in 1999 for Shakespeare in Love. She garnered four other Oscar nominations for their work together, as well as a host of additional prizes.

Weinstein explains, "Judi Dench did six movies in a row with me and got five Academy Award nominations. She took me to the Four Seasons restaurant with a bunch of really famous, fun people. It was the day she got her fifth nomination.
"She said, ‘I have a present for you’. She pulled down her pants and she had a tattoo. It’s a tattoo you could wash off - ‘Judi loves Harvey’ - right on the rim of her butt.
