T.I. SPEAKS TO KIDS IN COURT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Prison-bound rapper T.I. was back in court on Friday (20Feb09) - to talk troubled high school students out of following in his footsteps.
The Live Your Life hitmaker, real name Clifford Harris, Jr., is due to begin a year-long jail term next month (Mar09) for illegal weapons possession.
His sentence relates to his 2007 arrest, when he was caught trying to buy an arsenal of guns from an undercover FBI agent.
As part of his plea deal, T.I. agreed to complete 1,000 hours of community service, which included talking to youngsters to keep them on the right side of the law.
The community work took him to Georgia Supreme Court last week where he warned at-risk students of the consequences of their actions.
He told them, "You can see from me that nobody is too rich, too famous, too cool, too good-looking or too young to make a mistake and pay a price for it.
"More important than the mistake you make, though, is what you are able to take away from that mistake. How can you use that mistake to ensure you will never make a similar mistake again?" And T.I. urged the teenagers - half of whom were serving juvenile sentences - to stay in school, because education is the key to success.
He added, "Education is more important than any material thing you can have. The things you do not have in your life, the things you do not have in your possession, will be a reflection of the things you have not learned."

ROURKE PAYS BACK THERAPIST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

A second shot at fame means actor MICKEY ROURKE can finally pay back the therapist who treated him for free for more than a decade.
The star credits the un-named psychiatrist, and his collection of loyal dogs, with saving his life during a bleak spell in the Hollywood wilderness.
And he reveals he was so broke at his lowest point, the analyst treated him for free up to five times a week.
Rourke - who sealed his triumphant comeback with a Golden Globe and BAFTA-winning performance in The Wrester - says, "When I self destructed and everything came apart about 14 years ago. My wife had left, the career was over, I took a movie just for the paycheck, and felt like I w**red myself out.
"Fourteen years of therapy. For the first five years, it was three days a week. I didn’t have the money to pay him. I think at one point I owed $68,000. He said, ‘I’ve never let anyone do this, but I know you’ll pay me back.’"

ROURKE ‘MOVES ON’ FROM SECOND WIFE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Actor MICKEY ROURKE has finally "moved on" from his failed marriage to actress CARRE OTIS - after trying for eight years to reconcile with her.
The pair’s six-year union hit an all-time low when Rourke was arrested in 1994 for spousal abuse, two years after they wed.
The charges were dropped after the former couple reconciled, but the Wrestler star and Otis failed to save their marriage, and finally called it quits when their divorce was finalised in 1998.
And despite blaming the split for his downward spiral into depression - resulting in well-documented run-ins with police and movie executives - Rourke admits he’s only recently gotten over his ex, who remarried in 2005.
He says, "I still love her. I love her in a different way but I waited for her for eight years (after the divorce) for her to come back. I’ve moved on now. It’s the first time I’ve been able to say that and mean it."

‘VIOLENT’ MUSIC BANNED IN JAMAICA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

FABOLOUS LINKED TO TOUR BUS DRUG BUST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

Hip-hop star FABOLOUS is at the centre of a drug scandal after Arkansas police discovered a large stash of marijuana on a tour bus reportedly belonging to the rapper.
Authorities pulled over the coach for a traffic violation last Tuesday (17Feb09) and a search of the vehicle uncovered 496 pounds (225 kilograms) of the illegal substance on board, as well as $6,452 (£4,543) in cash.
The driver of the tour bus and his only passenger, both from Georgia, claimed the drugs belong to Fabolous and another unnamed rapper.
They allege the Trade It All hitmaker, real name John Jackson, and his associate loaded up the bus in Phoenix, Arizona, where they had attended the NBA All-Star Weekend (14-15Feb09), and instructed the driver to phone on arrival in Boston, Massachusetts.
The two men, identified as Edward Thimas, 52, and Robert Morris, 44, are currently being held in custody after giving police conflicting reports of the timeline of events.
A spokesperson for Fabolous had yet to return a comment as WENN went to press.

THE GAME ‘FAILED TO RESPOND’ TO CIVIL LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

Rapper THE GAME is facing a possible $1.5 million (£1 million) pay out after failing to respond to a civil court lawsuit stemming from a 2007 allegation of assault.
The Dreams hitmaker, real name Jayceon Taylor, was arrested in February 2007 for possessing a firearm in a school zone following an altercation on a Los Angeles basketball court.
He later pleaded no contest to the charge, served eight days in jail and is currently carrying out community service as part of his sentence.
But he is now dealing with a new legal problem after basketball coach Shannon Rodrick accused the rapper of punching and threatening him during the incident.
Rodrick filed suit against the hip-hop star in March 2008, but The Game has not responded to the legal action and the coach’s lawyers are now seeking a default judgement in the case.
The next hearing is set for 22 April (09) - but if The Game fails to show up in court, he could be forced to hand over the $1.5 million in compensation for the reported attack, according to AllHipHop.com.

HATHAWAY SHUNS DRUGS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

Actress ANNE HATHAWAY has vowed to stay away from drugs - after a wild night at college convinced her illegal substances would swiftly sabotage her career.
The Devil Wears Prada star, 26, admits she’s not unlike other stars her age and often does "terrible things" that would make tabloid headlines.
But, after a frightening experience where acquaintances passed around cocaine at a college party, Hathaway built a close circle of friends she credits with keeping her on track.
She says, "I do terrible things. I just have very discreet friends. I had an experience at college where I was at a party and people were passing cocaine around, and I looked at it and thought, that’s not a horse I can ride, I’m never going to do that. VOIGHT: ‘WINSLET DESERVED TO WIN’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:39 pm

Veteran actor JON VOIGHT was delighted to see KATE WINSLET scoop the Best Actress Oscar on Sunday (22Feb09) - beating his daughter ANGELINA JOLIE to the podium.
Winslet scooped the honour for her portrayal of a Nazi guard in The Reader at the prestigious prizegiving - sixth time lucky for the star who had been a losing nominee five times before.
And Voight insists her long-awaited win was well-deserved - although it meant Jolie went home empty-handed.
He says, "It’s wonderful. I voted for Angie and all the gals deserve to be (winners)… (But Winslet) is a brilliant actress and she was brilliant in her performance.
"Kate’s a great person. She’s got her feet on the ground… and it must have been very moving for the people of Britain too." And even Jolie herself, who won the Best Supporting Oscar in 1999 for Girl, Interrupted, had predicted a victory for Winslet.
Voight adds, "It was Kate’s night, as Angie had said actually - she said she thought it was gonna be Kate’s night and it’s wonderful to see.
"Ange is a pro, she knows what’s going on, she’s been there before, she’s gotten the award before. She’s an experienced person and she knows that it can go any way. All of them have to be prepared… (even) Winslet said she was practising to look dignified if she lost."
