SUGE KNIGHT’S ALLEGED ATTACKER PROTESTS INNOCENCE
The man charged with assaulting fallen rap mogul MARION ‘SUGE’ KNIGHT at an Arizona party last weekend (14-15Feb09) has blasted the allegations, insisting he is innocent.
Robert Carnes, Jr., a member of singer Akon’s entourage, was one of two males arrested at the Lonely hitmaker’s private bash at the W Hotel in Scottsdale during the NBA All-Star Weekend.
The fight allegedly broke out after a heated argument between two groups of VIP guests turned violent.
Carnes, Jr. was accused of punching Knight twice in the head, leading to the former Death Row Records owner being hospitalised for severe facial injuries.
Carnes, Jr. and another suspect - only referred to as Anderson - were taken into custody and charged with one count of misdemeanour disorderly conduct. Carnes, Jr. was also hit with one count of felony aggravated assault.
But his attorney has now moved to clear up the reports and is protesting his client’s innocence.
In a statement released to TMZ.com, his legal aid says, "Robert Carnes, Jr. is a well respected executive within the entertainment community and currently serves as one of the management consultants for artist/producer Akon.
"Mr. Carnes will be entering a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court where he will have the opportunity to tell his side of the story."
