ROBERTS PLANS BROADWAY RETURN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

JULIA ROBERTS is planning a return to Broadway - despite failing to win over New York theatre critics with her 2006 stage debut in THREE DAYS OF RAIN.
The 41-year-old Oscar winner starred in a limited run of Richard Greenberg’s play, opposite Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper, three years ago.
The show grossed nearly $1 million (£694,440) in ticket sales during its first week, but Roberts’ performance was savaged by reviewers.
However, she is keen to give the New York stage another try - and has vowed to be more careful in choosing which role to take on.
She tells Allure magazine, "I would like to do it one more time, understanding the shape of the beast better now." And she has a new plan for stage success: "Maybe not pick the hardest play I can find."

WINEHOUSE KEEN TO BUY HOLIDAY HOME IN ST. LUCIA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

AMY WINEHOUSE wants to have a more permanent base in the Caribbean - she’s reportedly looking to buy a holiday home on the island of St. Lucia.
The Rehab singer has been enjoying an extended break in the vacation hotspot since December (08), when she escaped her Camden, north London home for a sunnier climate.
Winehouse has faced numerous health issues over the last 12 months - including a battle with drug addiction - but has managed to stay away from hard drugs while on holiday.
And the star is doing so well away from the temptations of the British capital, she’s started house-hunting in St. Lucia so she can return at her leisure.
A source tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper that Winehouse and her father Mitch viewed "a few potential places" last weekend (14-15Feb09).
The insider adds, "Amy loves it over there and being away from it all has helped her hugely in her fight against drugs.
"She has been drinking and smoking cannabis but is still a million times better than she was in Camden.
"Her family think the best way to keep her out of trouble is to have a house in the (English) suburbs and a place in the Caribbean where she can totally get away."

50 CENT CONSIDERS RETIREMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

50 CENT is set to follow rap rival THE GAME into retirement, insisting his next studio album could be his last.
The In Da Club hitmaker has a fourth album and a hits compilation left on his label contract and he’s beginning to consider stepping back from the business after that.
He says, "It (next album) could very well be my last studio album if it doesn’t make sense for me to continue and actually do it." But the one thing that might prompt 50 to forge on is the fact all his rap peers are getting old and comfortable.
He tells King magazine, "I believe that I will have a stronger position as we move forward. What I have on my side is age. In the next five years, they’ll (top rappers) be 45 and 44 years old and I’ll just be close to where they are now." And he doesn’t expect Jay-Z to be the king of rap for much longer: "He’s married, he’s getting ready to be 40. He’s in a different place, he might not even want to run around, and even touring might be out of the question."

The actress, who played Bill Cosby’s youngest daughter Rudy on the hit 1980s sitcom, is hitting the headlines as a prostitute in Tyler Perry’s new film Madea Goes To Jail - and she hopes the part will help her land her dream role as Miss Jackson.
She says, "If Janet Jackson does the story of her life, and I’m still young enough, I am there. No one can pull her off like I can.
"I have a dance background… (and) I can lip-sync all day long. I can’t sing, but I can act like it very well."

She tells the Women’s Wear Daily website, "I don’t think there’s anything wrong with playing dress up right now. Who wouldn’t want to wear borrowed dresses and borrowed jewellery? "I think you can get criticised if you’re wearing borrowed dresses now because it’s borrowed, and I think you can get criticised if it’s not because you bought it during the current economy.
"So, I say do what makes you happy and wear what you want because the only thing that really matters is if your mother calls you up the next day and says, ‘What were you wearing?’"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN is looking to the future after wife BROOKE MUELLER’s pregnancy scare - the couple is busy organising a baby shower and is planning to donate some of its gifts to charity.
Mueller was rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital on Tuesday (17Feb09) after suffering premature contractions. She was monitored overnight before being discharged from the medical facility on Wednesday (18Feb09).
To celebrate her release, Mueller and Sheen are turning their attention to a party this weekend (21/22Feb09) to toast the impending arrival of their twin boys, who are due in April (09).
And they will be turning it into a charitable affair.
Sheen tells People.com, "I am invited (to the shower). Apparently, I don’t have to do anything, just show up and collect gifts. But there will be more stuff that goes to charity. People that don’t need it get the most stuff, and that’s what’s wrong with the world." The actor also revealed that the couple is busy putting the finishing touches to the twins’ nursery so they can relax in the weeks before the birth.
He adds, "We have a deadline. It’s that last-minute push with the paint, furniture and all the accessorising and all that, but it’s going to be lovely."

"I had to lead this double life where I was pretending I was being really good, when secretly I had cakes stuffed in my anorak pockets and I had to shove them into my mouth when he was turned the other way. One time, I’d eaten already french fries and a hamburger and had a really awful day. I confessed that I’d eaten one bread roll - I lied about everything else - and he almost cried.
"And I thought, ‘Oh no, imagine if he had any idea what I was actually getting up to behind his back!’"

EVERETT: ‘MY SEXUALITY KILLED MY CAREER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Actor RUPERT EVERETT is convinced his sexuality stunted his blossoming Hollywood career - insisting movie bosses stopped offering him leading roles after he announced he is gay.
The British star won a string of lead roles in films throughout the 1980s, but his acting career slowed down after he revealed his homosexuality in 1989.
Everett is adamant that the revelation put an end to a promising career as a movie star, leaving him to play a handful of roles as the ‘gay best friend’.
Everett - who played gay characters in both The Next Best Thing and My Best Friend’s Wedding - also claims he was turned down for the lead role in 2006’s Basic Instinct 2 because of his sexuality.
And the star blames Hollywood executives for being too scared to cast a gay man in a heterosexual leading role.
He tells The New York Times Magazine, "I wanted to be a movie star. I had a difficult set of circumstances to deal with, particularly for a movie career. Being gay, really. It just doesn’t work." And Everett hopes that movie bosses will eventually be able to look past people’s sexual preferences when casting for films, adding, "As actors we don’t play gay, straight… we play human beings."
