Comedian TONY ROCK has been arrested by California police for driving under the influence (DUI).
Chris Rock’s younger brother was pulled over by Highway Patrol officers at around 2.40am local time on Wednesday (18Feb09) after he was caught allegedly speeding down the 101 Freeway.
But when cops confronted Rock, they suspected he was intoxicated behind the wheel and he was booked after failing sobriety tests, reports TMZ.com.
He was held behind bars at a Los Angeles jail for several hours and was expected to post his $5,000 (£3,520) bail as WENN went to press.

BEATLES legend SIR PAUL McCARTNEY hopes a new Rock Band game based on the Fab Four will help to introduce his music to a new generation of kids.
The Hey Jude hitmakers’ record label Apple Corps. signed a deal with Rock Band manufacturers MTV and Harmonix last year (08) to create a new interactive game based on the Beatles’ music.
Rock Band allows users to play along to music, virtually, using replicas of instruments.
And McCartney reveals the project will span every musical twist and turn the Beatles took during their Sixties heyday.
He says, "It will feature different periods of the band � you get early days, Liverpool, then psychedelic, and on from there.
"It’s very cool. And I like the idea that the game introduces kids to music, you know?"

Comedian STEVE COOGAN wants to quit Britain for Hollywood, and is even considering applying for American citizenship.
The star - famous for his characters Alan Partridge and Paul Calf - has broken into Hollywood, landing roles in movies Night at the Museum and Tropic Thunder.
But he’s desperate to become a Tinseltown regular, so he can stay in Los Angeles full-time and switch nationalities.
During an appearance on comedian Craig Ferguson’s L.A.-based chat show, Ferguson told Coogan how he became a U.S. citizen last year (08).
Coogan said, "I’d be very tempted to do that. I really would. I need to get more work out here first though."

Actor/director TYLER PERRY is helping to keep teenagers off the streets - he has made a generous donation to a youth homeless shelter in Atlanta, Georgia.
The star, who experienced homelessness and hunger as a struggling wannabe, handed over $110,000 (£77,465) to organisers at Covenant House Georgia to contribute to operating and renovation costs.
Perry has also bought a brand new 15-seat van for the charity - and Covenant House president Kevin Ryan is overwhelmed by his kind gesture.
Ryan says, "God bless Mr. Perry for this incredible gift to our kids.
"The van will be used to rescue young people from the hopelessness of the street. His generous donation will provide immediate help to kids in crisis as well as the long-term support that will transform their lives."

THE OFFICE star ANGELA KINSEY has split from her husband of eight years.
The 37-year-old actress, who plays Angela Martin on the hit U.S. comedy show, has separated from Warren Lieberstein, according to Us Weekly magazine.
A spokeswoman for Kinsey says, "Angela and Warren are taking some time apart to ­figure out what is best for their relationship." The split will be awkward on set - her estranged husband’s brother Paul ­is one of Kinsey’s The Office co-stars.
Kinsey and Lieberstein welcomed baby Isabel into the world last May (08). She’s their only child.

Comedian TRACY MORGAN has escaped unscathed after firefighters battled a blaze at his New York apartment on Wednesday (18Feb09) morning, according to internet reports.
TMZ.com claims the 30 Rock star’s home at Trump Place building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan caught fire after a light bulb in one of his fish tanks busted.
Fire officials responded three minutes after receiving a call at 8.34am local time, and have reported extensive damage.
Morgan was reportedly at home at the time of the fire, but was not injured.

Aussie rock legend NICK CAVE has hired a new guitarist to replace departing BAD SEEDS rocker MICK HARVEY - THE SAINTS star ED KUEPPER.
Founding member Harvey quit the band last month (Jan09) citing "a variety of personal and professional reasons".
He vowed to remain friends with Cave - with whom he formed the group back in 1983 - and continue to work with the Bad Seeds on reissue projects.
But Cave has moved swiftly to replace him in the studio and on the stage, in the form of fellow Aussie Kuepper - who will kick off his first tour with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds in June (09).

Rockers COLDPLAY and THE KILLERS will make a last-minute dash across London following the Brit Awards on Wednesday night (18Feb09) to headline a charity gig in the city.
Both acts are nominated for awards at the music ceremony, which will take place at Earl’s Court Arena in south west London.
Coldplay are slated to perform early in the evening, while The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers will take to the stage at the end of the show for a collaboration with pop duo Pet Shop Boys.
Both bands will be rushed out of the event to make it to the War Child charity concert at the The O2 Shepherds Bush ­Empire.
A source tells local newspaper The London Paper, "The guys are debating which will be the speediest mode of transport to get from one venue to the other. Management want Virgin motorbike-taxis to courier them but the band reckon it�ll be quicker to get the Tube (public transport).�

Ethiopian pop star TEDDY AFRO’s six year jail term for causing a fatal hit-and-run accident has been reduced to two years - two months after he was convicted of manslaughter.
The singer, real name Tewodros Kassahun, was sentenced in December (08) after he was found guilty of manslaughter, driving without a license and fleeing the scene of a car accident.
The charges relate to a 2007 incident in Ethiopia, which resulted in the death of a homeless man.
Afro pleaded not guilty, insisting he was out of the country at the time.
Appeal Judge Dagne Melaku upheld the guilty verdict in an appeal court on Wednesday (18Feb09), but said the 18-year-old victim had been drunk and was lying unconscious on the road when he was hit by the car.
After breaking into the music scene in 2001, Afro released albums considered politically controversial. His fans, who’ve rallied outside courthouses in support of the star, maintain the singer is victim of a government attack on Ethiopian freedom of speech.
Afro, who was imprisoned in the country’s capital Addis Ababa in April (08), could be free in less than 12 months pending good behaviour.

The estate of rock legend JIMI HENDRIX has won a trademark infringement lawsuit against a Seattle, Washington-based businessman who used the star’s name and image to promote his brand of vodka.
Executives of family-owned companies The Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix claim they have won a $3.2 million (£2.2 million) federal court judgment, filed in 2007 against Craig Dieffenbach, who packaged Hendrix Electric vodka.
The judge has ordered the liquor, a purple bottle featuring the rocker’s face and signature above the label, to be taken off store shelves, reports the Associated Press.
Hendrix died in 1970 at the age of 27.

Actor CHARLIE SHEEN has become the latest celebrity to step into the world of fashion - he’s launching a line of casual shirts.
The Two and a Half Men star has teamed up with designers at Rock & Roll Religion to produce the DaVinci Collection by Charlie Sheen.

PEREZ HILTON has taken another swipe at LILY ALLEN in their ongoing war of words online - by posting a picture of the star’s crotch on his gossip blog.
The pair engaged in a bitter exchange on social networking site Twitter.com earlier this week (begs16Feb09), with the pop star branding the gossip blogger a "little parasite" and a "bitter lonely old queen".
Hilton subsequently dismissed the sparring while speaking to the media, likening their feud to sibling rivalry - but Allen remained adamant her comments weren’t made in jest, insisting she "hates" Hilton.
Now the blogger is seeking revenge with a new internet rant about Allen, which he concludes by posting a picture of her crotch, visible through her sheer black dress.
He writes: "We thought our little ‘feud’ with Lily Allen was all in good fun - playful bickering. Unfortunately, it seems like the British singer, whose new album debuts at a disappointing number 5 on the U.S. Billboard charts this week, is taking this silliness between us way too seriously.

The offices of a New York record label producing tracks by ROD STEWART and [SHARON JONES AND THE DAP-KINGS] has been burgled.
Thieves raided Brooklyn-based soul label Daptone Records at the weekend (begs14Feb09), according to the label’s co-founder, Gabriel Roth.
In an e-mail message to BrooklynVegan.com, Roth says he found computers, turntables, amplifiers, guitars and other instruments had been either stolen or damaged in the Bushwick-area studio.
Co-founder Neal Sugarman tells the website, "It’s hard to tell whether they knew what they wanted to get or not." Sugarman and Roth have temporarily closed the studio as police investigate the crime.

RICKY GERVAIS proved there are no hard feelings after missing out on presenting the 2009 Academy Awards - he is helping host HUGH JACKMAN write jokes for the forthcoming ceremony.
The British comedian was hotly tipped to host the prestigious prizegiving before Oscars bosses announced in December (08) the Australia actor had landed the coveted gig.
But The Office creator will still be infusing the Oscars with his brand of humour - after lending Jackman a few of his own gags.
Gervais writes on his official blog: "Hugh Jackman called me again for another brainstorming session about the Oscars. He called me out of the blue a couple of weeks ago and said he wanted me to write some gags for him. We’ve spoken a few times and we’ve come up with some funny ideas I think.
"It’s difficult for me because it’s so mainstream, and 90 per cent of everything that comes into my head is unsuitable. He’s great though. He seems to have no ego at all. Nice bloke. Hope he does well." And Jackson is grateful for the funnyman’s input: "I rang Ricky Gervais, of whom I’m a massive fan, and told him I was looking for ideas and he said, ‘No problem!’ and started riffing with me. You can’t believe how lovely people are being." Jackman will take to the stage to helm the Los Angeles ceremony on 22 February (09).

Actress VIOLA DAVIS is desperate to lose weight before Sunday’s (22Feb09) Academy Awards, because she was so "stressed" starring opposite MERYL STREEP in new movie DOUBT, she piled on an extra 20 pounds (9.1 kilograms).
Davis beat TV queen Oprah Winfrey to land a role in the critically-acclaimed film, which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress last month (22Jan09).
But the Tony Award winner admits the anxiety of appearing opposite her idol, Streep, caused her to over eat - and she’s put herself on a strict diet to prepare for the star-studded ceremony.
She tells the New York Post, "I’d never solicited myself for any role before. I did for this. To be an African-American actress in a scene with Meryl Streep?! Through the grapevine, I heard every black actress in captivity was coming out of the woodwork.
"But boy, did I look crappy in this movie. From stress I gained 17 pounds (7.7 kilograms). I ate bagels, cream cheese, crap. If Meryl offered a doughnut, I took it. Chocolate? I took that, too." And Davis confesses it isn’t the first time she has shown physical signs of stress.
She adds, "I’m 43. At 30, I won a Tony for King Hedley II. From that nervousness, I lost my hair. Another time when I was nominated I lost all my hair. Clean as a baby’s butt. I needed wigs, cortisone injections. And now with all the parties and wine and cheese, I have to watch myself. Can’t be going bald and shovelling it in with all those skinny-a** gorgeous girls at the Oscars."

Russian ballerina MARINA SVETLOVA has died, aged 86.
Svetlova passed away on 11 February (09) at her home in Bloomington, Indiana. Her longtime friend Lawrence Davis claims her health had steadily declined after she suffered a stroke several years ago.
A celebrated dancer, she made her professional debut in 1931 with an experimental troupe directed by Ida Rubinstein in Paris, France, and in 1939 became a soloist with the Original Ballet Russe, where she danced until 1941.
Svetlova then joined the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Opera as a ballerina, and toured internationally with her own concert group from 1944 to 1969.
She later became a prominent figure in the dance world as a teacher, serving as professor of ballet and chairwoman of the ballet department at Indiana University from 1969 to 1992 and as director her own summer school, the Svetlova Dance Center in Dorset, Vermont, from 1965 to 1995.
