Basketball icon CHARLES BARKLEY is teeing up to star in a new golf-themed reality TV show.
Retired Barkley is currently off the air, after bosses at network TNT suspended him from his job as a basketball analyst following his 31 December (08) arrest in Scottsdale, Arizona for driving under the influence (DUI).
But producers at The Golf Channel have negotiated a deal with the star to return to U.S. television - he’s been booked to star in The Haney Project next month (Mar09), reports the New York Post.
Barkley, an avid golfer, will appear in the seven-episode series with legendary instructor Hank Haney "to improve a swing that has been laughed at by millions and ridiculed by his closest friends".

Hollywood starlet TARAJI P. HENSON has found the perfect way to keep her feet on the ground - she cooks breakfast for her son every day.
The actress is tipped for a glittering movie career and is nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her turn opposite Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
But she is determined not to let success go to her head - and loves caring for her teenage son Marcel by sending him off to school each day with a stomach full of "brain food".
She tells USA Today newspaper, "My son gets breakfast every morning. I don’t buy cereal. Sometimes he wants scrambled eggs. Sometimes he’ll have bacon. Or pancakes. He gets home-cooked meals every day.
"Even if I have a 5am call, I’ll cook and leave his food in the microwave before I leave. You expect a child to succeed and do well in school, but how are they going to do that if they have no brain food?"

Former HI-DE-HI! star DIANE HOLLAND has died, aged 78.
The British actress passed away on 24 January (09) following a battle with bronchial pneumonia.
A private family funeral will be held on 28 February (09), followed by a public memorial service later this year (09).
Holland started her career in musical theatre and went on to appear in a series of successful U.K. TV shows.
She was best known for her role as dance instructor Yvonne Stewart-Hargreaves in the 1980s sitcom Hi-De-Hi, set in a British holiday camp.
Paying tribute to the late star, her agent Bo Keller says: "She had a very dry sense of humour, extremely kind hearted. I miss her very much. She was a real trooper. You could throw anything at her and she’d do it.

Actor SHIA LABEOUF is heading to law school - he’s to star in a big-screen adaptation of renowned crime author JOHN GRISHAM’s book THE ASSOCIATE.
The Transformers star will portray a Yale Law School student with a sordid secret that leaves him vulnerable to blackmail.
The script will be adapted for Hollywood by The Departed writer William Monahan for studio giant Paramount, reports industry paper Daily Variety.

Billionaire real estate mogul DONALD TRUMP has been hit by the global economic downturn - one of his companies has filed for bankruptcy.
Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., of which Trump served as a boardmember, struggled to combat debts of $1.25 billion (£880 million) and filed for Chapter 11 in a New Jersey bankruptcy court on Tuesday (17Jan09).
Trump stepped down from the board last Friday (13Feb09).

Pop star LADY GAGA has offered the starring role in her next music video to any sharp-eyed fan who can locate her missing sunglasses.
The singer is rarely photographed without a pair of funky frames - and she was left "devastated" after misplacing her favourite designer shades while on a European tour with the Pussycat Dolls.
In a desperate bid to get the eyewear back, the Just Dance hitmaker has put up a unique reward for anyone who manages to find them.
She says, "The only downer (of the tour) was that my Versaces were stolen. I’m so devastated I can barely talk.

CHARLOTTE CHURCH’s rugby star boyfriend GAVIN HENSON has been questioned by police after a disturbance at a Welsh pub on Sunday (15Feb09).
Welsh ace Henson was celebrating a recent win against England’s rugby team with fellow players Lee Byrne, Mike Phillips and Andy Powell when authorities were alerted to his "particularly rowdy" behaviour.
Witnesses claim Henson first angered patrons at the Queen’s Vault pub in Cardiff, Wales, by "jumping up on the pool table and taking peopleâ��s cues off them", prompting teammate Phillips to pick up a microphone to apologise to other revellers.
A source tells the South Wales Echo: "I thought Gavin Hensonâ��s behaviour was a disgrace. He was abusive to people in the pub and was fooling around with pool balls. Lee Byrne was good as gold and took Henson out of the pub." The pub’s manager has confirmed Phillips took to the stage to excuse his teammate’s behaviour.
After Henson was escorted out of the pub, he and Byrne reunited with their two pals on the street - only to be confronted by police, who reprimanded the men.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: �Officers from South Wales Police were called to St Mary Street, Cardiff, at around 9.15pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance." The matter has now been passed on to the Welsh Rugby Union for investigation.
A spokesman for Henson was unavailable for comment as WENN went to press.

AMY WINEHOUSE’s dad MITCH has reportedly flown out to the Caribbean amid fears the singer is falling back into her boozy ways.
The Rehab hitmaker has been enjoying a sunshine break in St. Lucia since December (08) following her battle against drink and drugs.

ISLA FISHER has defended her film CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC after critics branded the movie’s release inappropriate during the current financial crisis.
In the film, the actress plays Becky Bloomwood, a financial journalist who struggles to keep her shopping addiction under control.
But Fisher is adamant the timing of the movie is perfect - because audiences can learn something from her character�s spending habits.
She tells WENN, â��The character is learning lessons about consumption and debt like the rest of us right now. It feels fairly topical. Obviously the movie was conceived during a different economic period but she learns her lesson. It is a redemption story.â�� And Fisherâ��s co-star Hugh Dancy, who plays her love interest in the big screen adaptation of Sophie Kinsella’s books, argues that the light-hearted movie can provide escape to those hit hard by the economic climate.
He adds: "We were not attempting to make an educational movie or documentary but the message is very simple: There are more important things than shopping and clothes. But this is a comedy first and foremost."

Outspoken comedienne ROSEANNE BARR is hoping CHRIS BROWN will face jail time over the troubled R&B star’s row with girlfriend RIHANNA earlier this month (Feb09).
Brown was arrested and charged with making criminal threats after a bust-up his then-girlfriend.
He subsequently issued an official statement insisting most of "what has been speculated or reported" by the media is wrong.
But now actress Barr has slammed Brown for his "lies and excuses", insisting the singer deserves to be punished if he committed the crime.
She writes on her official blog: "Chris Brown’s lies and excuses make me want to beat the crap out of him…he uses the language of the perpetrator just like every sleazy b***ard who ever smacked his wife, kid mother or girlfriend around uses.

LILY ALLEN has sparked an online war of words with gossip king PEREZ HILTON, branding the celebrity blogger a "parasite".
The outspoken singer turned to her page on social networking site Twitter to take Hilton to task after he posted photos of her dancing on his website, likening her on-stage moves to an "awkward cow".
The Smile hitmaker wrote to Hilton: "I’m sorry, we’ve already cast the jealous and bitter lonely old queen role. Next time eh?" Hilton hit back hours later by posting: "Jealous of who? Oscar-winning actress HALLE BERRY has stolen a new role - she’s been signed up to star in upcoming heist movie WHO IS DORIS PAYNE.
The X-Men star will play the lead character in the fact-based film about infamous international jewel thief Payne, according to Variety.
J2 Pictures partners Justin Berfield and Jason Felts are producing the movie - scripted by Eunetta Boone - which is slated for release in 2010.

Soccer stud DAVID BECKHAM is set to make the move to Italy after all - his wife VICTORIA has reportedly given him the go-ahead to leave Los Angeles.
The sports superstar is desperate to secure a transfer from current club L.A. Galaxy to Italian giants AC Milan, despite the reluctance of wife Victoria to uproot their family.
But the couple has now reportedly agreed their three children Brooklyn, nine, Romeo, six, and Cruz, three, will stay in America until the end of the school year - paving the way for Beckham to make the move.
A source tells U.K. newspaper The Sun, �Victoria has told David she loves him and nothing will come between the family. He was thrilled that she has let him pursue his last chance of playing top flight football.� A deal has yet to be agreed between the two clubs but Beckham is confident he will make the move to the fashion capital.
The source adds, �It looks like David has got his way after making a very strong case for his career ending in Milan. David probably only has a few seasons left in him and if he wants to keep his England place and maybe play in another World Cup he must compete at the top level. Victoria can see that now - and after his career ends they can settle anywhere they want.�

Hollywood actor PIERCE BROSNAN is the latest celebrity feeling the effects of the global economic crisis - his upcoming big-screen outing has reportedly been delayed due to a lack of funds.
The former James Bond star signed up to play Lord Charles Somerset in Heaven and Earth, a $20 million (£14 million) biopic of James Miranda Barry - a woman doctor who masqueraded as a man to follow a medical career.
Filming was due to start on the big budget movie last Thursday (12Feb09) with a release date planned for later this year (09).
But the economic crisis has put paid to those plans - with U.K. newspaper The Independent reporting an unidentified British backer has failed to provide promised funds in time, forcing filming to be delayed.

SOPHIE OKONEDO’s new movie SKIN has triumphed at the 17th Annual Pan African Film & Arts Festival Film Competition, scoring two major prizes.
The drama, based on the true story of a black woman born to white parents in apartheid South Africa, was awarded the Jury Favourite prize at the awards luncheon in Culver City, California on Monday (16Feb09).
The picture was also named Best Narrative Feature in the category voted for by moviegoers.
French film Cuba, An African Odyssey landed the Best Documentary Feature honour, Prince of Broadway was handed Best Narrative Feature by festival bosses and Maria Govan was handed the coveted Best Director-First Feature award for 2008 film Rain.
