RIHANNA has ended her relationship with CHRIS BROWN following their alleged fight, her angry dad has confirmed.
Brown was charged by Los Angeles police with making criminal threats last week (08Feb09) after reportedly assaulting a woman believed to be Rihanna.
Ronald Fenty met up with his daughter in her native Barbados on Thursday (12Feb09), where she allegedly told him the incident has put an end to the superstars’ relationship.
Fenty, 55, says, "The relationship is over and I am pleased. She doesn’t want to speak to Chris. She is being very brave about things and said that she will be back on stage performing soon." Rihanna was reportedly left with cuts and bruises to her face after the row, but her father insists she is making a recovery.
He tells People.com, "There is some bruising. She will be alright. I think so." And Fenty hopes the Umbrella hitmaker will one day use the experience to reach out to victims of domestic abuse: "At some point, she will speak out. I hope she will stand up for women all over the world."

KELLY CLARKSON had no idea her fellow AMERICAN IDOL contestant CLAY AIKEN is gay - insisting the news caught her completely "off guard".
Aiken confirmed his sexuality in September (08), but Clarkson was shocked by her one-time touring partner’s revelation.
She tells Attitude magazine, "The funniest part was when Clay told me on tour and I honestly had no clue! I have zero Gaydar. No, I’ve actually dated someone and then they’ve told me later on that they actually had experimented and I was like "Really?" I would never have guessed that. I have the worst Gaydar in the world.

Hollywood actresses JESSICA ALBA and KERRY WASHINGTON have waded into the debate surrounding CHRIS BROWN’s alleged fight with girlfriend RIHANNA - they hope the incident will help raise awareness of domestic abuse problems.
Brown and Rihanna were reportedly involved in a dispute on Sunday (08Feb09) night which allegedly left the Umbrella hitmaker needing hospital treatment.
Brown subsequently turned himself over to police and was charged with making criminal threats.
The story has dominated headlines across the world, with many stars coming forward to voice their opinions on the matter.
Alba and Washington were guests at the V-Day luncheon in Los Angeles on Friday (13Feb09), which aims to stop violence against women.
And speaking at the event, Alba insist that although the incident is regrettable, she hopes the high profile case will help highlight the issues facing women all over the world.
She says, "When things happen publicly, it just makes it a more universal problem that more people can relate to." Washington adds, "(Violence against women) is a social illness that does not discriminate.
"This is a problem that spreads from the Congo to Hollywood. When it happens to someone famous, it’s a tragedy that it happened, but what I hope is that people become less and less afraid to talk about how truly devastating this social illness is."

MARIAH CAREY, FAITH HILL and GWEN STEFANI are sharing their love for music with fans on exclusive new one-of-a-kind iPods.
The divas have filled iPods with their own downloaded delights as part of a fundraising effort to benefit Music Rising, an organisation that replaces lost or destroyed instruments in the hurricane-affected Gulf Coast region.
The iPods, which have been signed by the singers, are currently being auctioned off on the Tonic.com website - and more than 70 celebrities will be adding their own personal playlists to iPods in coming months.
These include U2’s The Edge, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Madonna, Beyonce, Cher and Britney Spears.
A spokeswoman for Tonic.com says, "Each celebrity was given a new iPod which they autographed and Tonic pre-loaded with a playlist of 10 to 20 of the celebrities’ favourite songs.
"Beginning February 12th, between one and five separate iPod auctions will simultaneously launch every week." Carey’s playlist includes What’Chu Like by pal Da Brat, A Tribe Called Quest’s Bonita Applebum and Flashing Lights (Explicit) by Kanye West, while Stefani’s pop picks feature What I Like Most About You Is Your Girlfriend by The Special A.K.A., Lady Sovereign’s I Got You Dancing and In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel.

LINDSAY LOHAN and girlfriend SAMANTHA RONSON were forced to cancel an appearance on Valentine’s Day (14Feb09) after a doctor declared them too ill to fly.
The Mean Girls actress and her DJ partner were booked to host a party at Passions, a nightclub in Florida’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday.
But the bedridden stars had to pull out of the gig on the day of the event.
Ronson tells People.com, "We really feel bad, and I work sick when I can, but unfortunately I couldn’t drive to Miami, so I’m stuck in New York City with doctor’s orders not to fly." Organisers were left "disappointed" by the cancellation - because they failed to book another act in time for the party.
Director of Marketing for Passions, Amanda Senoff, adds: "Lindsay and Samantha stayed out late last night (13Feb09) in New York City, and are not feeling well. A doctor said Sam was too sick with the flu to travel and Lindsay is also feeling sick. So they rescheduled for March 7.
"I conferenced all of Lindsay and Sam’s managers for three hours today trying to remedy the situation, and they agreed the girls are sick. What can I say? I am disappointed because this is my first booking for Passions, but these things happen."

Rocker DAVE GROHL landed his dream job backing SIR PAUL McCARTNEY at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (08Feb09) - because the former BEATLE’s regular drummer was on tour with ERIC CLAPTON.
The former Nirvana percussionist and current Foo Fighters frontman was thrilled to get the call inviting him to join his hero onstage, but it had little to do with his own talents.
McCartney explains, "Dave played with us in Liverpool, where I did a concert there last year, and he played alongside my drummer Abe (Laboriel), but Abe wasn’t available for the Grammys; he was in Japan with Mr. Clapton. So we rang Dave up and said, ‘Can you do it?’" Grohl played drums for McCartney during two songs at a show in Liverpool last June (08), and accompanied the Beatle on Wings hit Band On The Run, and, on Sunday night, he played drums on I Saw Her Standing There, but he was upset he never got the chance to play a full concert behind McCartney.
Reports suggest Grohl tried to convince McCartney to play a secret warm-up show at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on Saturday night (07Feb09).

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE star FREIDA PINTO has reportedly called off her engagement to ROHAN ANTAO after work commitments left her with too little time to spend with him.
Actress Pinto and Antao, both 24, met four years ago when they were studying at St Xavier’s University in Mumbai, India.
Antao allegedly supported his partner’s career after she left university and became a successful model and TV presenter.
But her recent catapult to fame thanks to the international box office success of Slumdog Millionaire has put a strain on their relationship, prompting Pinto to call it a day.
A friend tells British tabloid the Sunday Mirror, "Freida called off the engagement after the film took off. She could never have imagined how rapidly her career would grow and it’s all been overwhelming."

Peruvian film THE MILK OF SORROW has been honoured with the Berlin Film Festival’s top prize.
The movie, selected by an international board under this year’s (09) president Tilda Swinton, beat off competition from the Woody Harrelson-starring film The Messenger, and My One And Only, with Renee Zellweger, to take home the Golden Bear award for Best Picture on Saturday (14Feb09).
On receiving the award, The Milk Of Sorrow filmmaker Claudia Llosa dedicated the win to her home country.
She said, "This is beautiful… this is such an honour. This is for Peru. This is for our country." The runner-up Silver Bear was shared by Uruguay’s Gigante and German drama Everyone Else.
The Messenger, in which Harrelson plays a military officer who must inform families when they lose soldiers in combat, received the Silver Bear for Best Script for writers Oren Moverman and Alessandro Camon.

The Indian child stars of Oscar-nominated movie SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE have been denied the chance to travel to the glitzy Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles - after their parents refused them permission.
The film’s bosses had decided against bringing Rubin Ali and Azharuddin Ismail, both eight, to all of the numerous Hollywood awards ceremonies. Yet they offered both the chance to attend the prestigious Oscars event next Sunday (22Feb08) as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
However, the children’s parents have refused to travel - or to let the young stars leave with chaperones - according to producer Christian Colson.
He says, "The last thing they said to us was give us the money for the plane fares instead." Ali and Ismail were paid $725 (£500) and $2,465 (£1,700) respectively for their cameos as Latika and Salim in the Mumbai, India-based film’s early scenes - three times the average local annual adult salary.
Both were also enrolled in schools for the first time, and movie bosses established a fund for their future welfare.

Eighties pop legends SPANDAU BALLET are planning to make a comeback with a new album and a world tour.
The British band formed 30 years ago and had a string of hits including Gold and To Cut A Long Story Short.
The group split in 1999 when singer Tony Hadley, saxophonist Steve Norman and drummer John Keeble sued guitarist Gary Kemp over claims he owed them more than $1.45 million (£1 million) in royalties.
But the members have now put aside their differences and teamed up with Kemp’s brother Martin for a reunion, according to the band’s manager Steve Dagger.
Dagger says, "We’re not making announcements yet, but yes, basically, the boys are back in town. Not just a nostalgic re-run of the old but a fresh slant on what Spandau Ballet are about."

Rapper KID CUDI was zapped with a stun gun and handcuffed by authorities after an altercation at a party in the U.S., according to reports.
The Day ‘N’ Nite hitmaker allegedly tussled with two Reebok employees at a bash sponsored by the athletic footwear brand during the NBA’s All-Star weekend (begs14Feb09) in Phoenix, Arizona.
AllHipHop.com reports that the altercation was sparked when Kid Cudi, booked to perform at the event, insisted upon wearing Nike shoes onstage - instead of a pair of Reeboks.
Police apparently intervened as the argument escalated, Tasering the star before handcuffing him.
A representative for Kid Cudi was unavailable for comment as WENN went to press.

ROBERT PLANT and ALISON KRAUSS have returned to the studio to record the follow up to their multi-Grammy-winning album RAISING SAND.
The couple picked up five Grammys on Sunday (08Feb09), including Album of the Year and Raising Sand is poised to hit the top of the U.S. album charts next week (18Feb09), despite the fact it wasn’t even in the top 200 two weeks ago.
The duo has reteamed with producer T. Bone Burnett, who tells Rolling Stone magazine, "The one thing we certainly can’t do is try and repeat Raising Sand. That was a moment in time and a beautiful moment, so to try and do that sort of thing again would detract from that.
"Hopefully we have at least two more records in us." Plant’s collaboration with Krauss has been one of the major reasons behind the rocker’s decision not to reunite with his former band Led Zeppelin for a talked-about world tour.

TOMMY LEE has cleared up reports police ordered his helicopter to land for flying "erratically" - insisting his pilot was trying to get a closer look at a building on fire.
The Motley Crue drummer was a passenger in the aircraft when officials grounded it for coming "too close" to a Los Angeles police helicopter over Glendale, California on 01 February (09).
But the star is adamant he wasn’t breaking any laws - and was instead just curious about a nearby home up in flames.
He says, "There was nothing scary about it. Motley Crue did a show in Palm Springs, out in the desert, and we were flying the helicopter back. This house was on fire about 30 minutes outside of Van Nuys airport, where we were going to land.
"So there was this house on fire, you could see all this smoke coming up. And I said, ‘F**! Let’s go over there and check it out.’ We flew close to the house to check it out, and apparently we got into the police’s airspace. But we were so far away from them. I still don’t understand. Like, there was no way we (were) that close." And Lee has also insisted his pilot, who was taken into custody for a blood alcohol test shortly after landing, only drank after touching down safely.
The star adds, "We were on the ground, and I had in my backpack a bottle of vodka mixed with lemonade. As soon as we landed my pilot, Dave, said, ‘Hey! Where’s that vodka?’ I grabbed it, and he takes two big giant sips straight out of the vodka bottle.
"Right when he was drinking it the cops walked out and said, ‘Who’s the pilot of that helicopter?’ And he’s like, ‘That would be me.’ So they thought he was drinking. But he doesn’t drink and fly - ever. That’s stupid. So that’s what the whole deal was. They gave him a sobriety test and all that. He’s like, ‘Guys, I just had two shots of vodka after we landed, now it’s a little late to be testing me, do you know what I mean?’ So that was it. No big deal." The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is reportedly investigating the incident.

Rapper/singer M.I.A. has confirmed she’s a new mum in a message to fans and friends on her MySpace.com website.
The Paper Planes hitmaker reveals her baby was born on Wednesday (11Feb09), three days after her "early stage labour kicked in" upon arriving home after the Grammy Awards, where she performed, on Sunday (08Feb09).
In the alert, which M.I.A. posted on Saturday (14Feb09), she writes, "MY BABY IS HERE HAPPY VALENTINES! SUNDAY NITE (sic) I CAME HOME FROM THE GRAMMY’S STILL IN THE MOOD TO PARTY, I COUDA (sic) EASILY GONE OUT BUT I WENT HOME INSEAD (sic), LUCKY I DID!! COZ MY EARLY STAGE LABOUR KICKED IN AROUND 2AM." She adds, "MY BABY WAS BORN WEDNESDAY, HE IS HEALTHY, FINE, BEAUTIFUL AND THE MOST AMZING (sic) THING EVER ON THIS PLANET - OF COURSE I’M HIS MUM!!! "ME AND BABY ARE PUTTING OUR TOUR DATES FOR 2010 TOGETHER AND MAKING MIX TAPES AND FIGURING OUT A WAY TO BREAK OUT OF THE HOSPITAL! HOPEFULLY THE WORLD IS BEEN TICKING ALONG AND I AINT MISSED MUCH (sic)." The star’s publicist confirms the baby news and the fact that the post on MySpace comes from M.I.A.
Initial reports, which broke overnight on Friday (13Feb09), suggested M.I.A.’s baby son was born on 12 February (09).
