SIMPSON’S ACCIDENT-PROOF OUTFIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:45 pm

JESSICA SIMPSON is so scared of splitting her pants and flashing the crowd during concerts, she has started wearing special accident-proof stage clothes.
The singer debuted her new split-proof pants - a cross between a skirt and shorts - during a concert at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Thursday night (12Feb09).
She explained the style choice to fans, saying, "I’ve had times when my pants split right down the middle when I bent down to reach a note.
"That’s why I’m wearing a skort - not a skirt, not a short - just so they wouldn’t split." Simpson recently hit back at recent tabloid claims she has piled on the pounds, insisting her weight is "right where (it’s) supposed to be".

LEGEND ‘FEELS TERRIBLE’ FOR BROWN AND RIHANNA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:42 pm

R&B star JOHN LEGEND was left dumbfounded when he heard CHRIS BROWN had been accused of assaulting a woman last weekend (08Feb09) - because he didn’t think the singer had a violent streak in him.
Brown was charged by Los Angeles police with making criminal threats on Sunday after an alleged fight with a woman believed to be Rihanna.
The news came as a shock to Ordinary People hitmaker Legend - but he insists if the reports are true, Brown will have to face the consequences of his actions.
He says, "I know both of them. I was surprised when I heard because it doesn’t strike me as something Chris would do.
"You never know what’s inside people or what can trigger that.
"It’s an awful story. I feel terrible for both of them but if Chris did what they said he did, that’s unacceptable. He has to accept the consequences of it."

SMITH: ‘DON’T BE TOO QUICK TO JUDGE BROWN & RIHANNA’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:42 pm

Hollywood couple WILL SMITH and JADA PINKETT SMITH have urged the media to stop speculating about CHRIS BROWN and RIHANNA’s Sunday morning (08Feb09) spat as they "reach out" to the R&B stars to offer them help.
Brown allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a fight in Los Angeles. He has since been charged with making criminal threats and is scheduled to appear in court in March (09).
Both he and Rihanna cancelled appearances at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night - and the former lovers have gone into hiding as the media continues to speculate on what happened and what caused the fight.
And movie star Smith wants all the stories to stop, so the two young singers can get help.
He tells U.S. TV news show Extra, "Jada and I reached out to both of them. If it’s help they need, then let’s get it right.
"This is a time where they need to be left alone and if they have things they need to work out, work it out. People should take a minute before they jump on it and judge. We don’t know nothing.
"If there are mistakes people make, then they should be willing to live up to the mistakes and do whatever penance they need to do. I don’t think it’s up to us, specifically the media, with such a fast hand to try to chop someone’s head off." But his wife Jada admits she’s distressed by the reports Brown assaulted his girlfriend.
She says, "Violence towards women of any kind is completely unacceptable."

KUTCHER SLAMS MEDIA OVER PHOENIX COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:42 pm

ASHTON KUTCHER has denied criticising actor-turned-rapper JOAQUIN PHOENIX on the internet - insisting his online comments have been taken out of context by the media.
Kutcher wrote about Phoenix’s bizarre appearance on the David Letterman TV programme on Wednesday (11Feb09), when the bearded star refused to co-operate with the talk show host.
Kutcher asked fans following his Twitter web blog, ‘Is he acting?" calling Phoenix’s behaviour "a little strange".
And now Kutcher has taken to the web once again to clarify his comments, insisting he doesn’t mind his Twitter musings being reported by journalists - but pleads with them to get the story correct.
He writes on his MySpace.com blog, "For the most part, the mainstream media has gotten it right and interpreted my Twitters with accuracy. Today, however, some of the coverage surrounding my Twitters about Joaquin Phoenix is blatantly inaccurate and taken completely out of context.
"The value of this utility is that it’s a conversation. And unfortunately the tabloid media is only reporting on one side of the conversation as they are not privy to the reply’s (sic) that are being fed directly to me by the twitter community.
"I don’t plan on stopping my open communication on Twitter. However, I am asking for consideration in understanding that my Twitter feed does not exist as a news source for tabloid media - and if tabloid reporters pull content, I would like for my Twitters to be pulled directly and reported accurately.
"Props to Joaquin Phoenix for his incredible artistry and brilliance."

BLOOM TURNS VALENTINE’S DAY TRIP INTO CHARITY MISSION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:39 pm

British actor ORLANDO BLOOM put his St. Valentine’s Day plans on hold after flying to Australia to visit girlfriend MIRANDA KERR - choosing to focus instead on the relief efforts following the country’s devastating bushfires.
Bloom flew out to Australia this week (beg09Feb09) to spend the romantic occasion (14Feb09) with his model partner.
But the day was overshadowed by the blaze which broke out across Australia’s Victoria state, killing more than 180 people and leaving thousands more homeless.
And the star is adamant that contributing to the Red Cross appeal to help people affected by the disaster took priority over Valentine’s celebrations.
He says, "My heart is very much with Australia. Not just due to this stunning young lady (Kerr). I never cease to be amazed by the courage and spirit of the Australian people. Miranda is from the bush area and knows all about bushfire. We have both been so upset by it.
"I came out to have fun and spend Valentine’s Day with her, but this has become far more important to us both."

STARS’ PHONE NUMBERS SOLD ON INTERNET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:39 pm

Stars including NATALIE PORTMAN, JUDE LAW and JULIANNE MOORE have had their privacy compromised after a British man bought a cellphone containing all of their personal details.
Kent Devey recently purchased a Blackberry phone on internet auction website eBay, but found the device still contained the previous owner’s address book - including contact numbers for a list of Hollywood stars, various movie producer and writers.
Devey, from Oldbury, England, didn’t believe the numbers were real until he dialled the digits listed for British actress Julie Walters, and heard her personal answer machine message.
He says, "As I started to look through the phone’s features, I noticed one of the emails hadn’t been wiped off. I started to recognise some of the names and then I saw Jude Law’s number. It’s a genuine mistake." The 28-year-old subsequently discovered the phone belonged to an associate producer for Stephen Daldry Pictures and has now contacted the company to have the phone returned.
A spokesperson for Daldry’s Working Title film company confirmed Devey had been in touch and announced they will be rewarding him for his honesty: "We’re grateful he will be returning the phone to us. We will be offering him a replacement Blackberry and some free tickets to see the Billy Elliot stage show."

LOHAN’S MOTHER DISMISSES TAX BILL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:39 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN’s mother DINA has dismissed reports about her tax problems as "ridiculous" - accusing her ex-husband of leaking the story to the press.
The Mean Girls star’s mum is said to owe more than $11,000 (£7,700) in property taxes to Nassau County.
If she fails to pay the bill, the tax lien - a security interest granted on property to secure debt repayment - reportedly placed against her home will go up for auction next week (begs16Feb09).
Lohan has refused to confirm the news, but has blasted the reports as "ridiculous".
And she claims her former partner, Michael Lohan, may have given the story to the media.
She tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "(The story is) just silly. My ex is in arrears for child support, and I think it has come from that area. Somebody out there is trying to do something to sabotage me and my family."

GOODY CONFIRMS CANCER IS TERMINAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:36 pm

British reality TV star JADE GOODY only has months to live after doctors told her they are powerless to treat her cancer.
The news was confirmed by Goody’s publicist, who revealed that the 27-year-old has stopped receiving chemotherapy treatment and is beginning to put her legal affairs in order.
Goody - who shot to fame on reality TV series Big Brother - was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year (08) and was recently told the deadly illness had spread to her bowel, liver and groin.
The mother-of-two underwent an operation to remove a tumour from her bowel last week (beg02Feb09) but has now been informed that further treatment would be useless.
Her spokesman Max Clifford says in a statement, "She was aware that the cancer had spread but they said unfortunately it was a question now of when rather than if, and when she pressed them as to how long she’d got, they said ‘months’." Clifford also revealed Goody is now planning to marry her boyfriend, Jack Tweed, and plan the future for her two sons, Freddy, five, and Bobby, four.
He adds, "It’s been very difficult for Jack, he proposed to her yesterday and they are going to be getting married as soon as possible. Both boys are going to be christened also, Jade is taking control of the situation. She’s being incredibly brave and positive about all of this."

BOYLE’S DAD SNOOZED THROUGH SLUMDOG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:36 pm

British director DANNY BOYLE’s father will need to see his son’s Oscar-nominated movie SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE again - after sleeping through his first viewing.
Patrick Boyle, 88, believes the highly praised Mumbai, India-based drama is not his son’s best offering, preferring debut 1995 release Shallow Grave.
And Boyle admitted he will have to watch the box office smash again, after he drifted off during a local cinema showing.
He says, "(Slumdog Millionaire) is great - but definitely not my favourite. That is Shallow Grave. It has always stuck in my mind because it was his first.
"I’ve seen Slumdog Millionaire - but I think I missed a couple of parts so I wouldn’t mind seeing it again."

MARTIN SHRUGS OFF BAD REVIEWS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:33 pm

Hollywood funnyman STEVE MARTIN has dismissed recent poor reviews of his latest PINK PANTHER movie - accusing film critics of "snobbery" when judging comedy films.
Martin reprised his role as Inspector Jacques Clouseau for Pink Panther 2, but the new picture received a barrage of scathing write-ups from film journalists and took a disappointing $12 million (£8.28 million) in its opening weekend at the U.S. box office.
But Martin is adamant he doesn’t take any notice of film critics, insisting they never give funny films a chance.
He says, "I have received bad reviews my whole life. I received bad reviews when I started with my stand-up act. ‘The Jerk’, one of my most enduring comedy films, was universally panned in America. And comedies always have to overcome critical snobbery.
"It’s just the way it is. And so you go, oh, well, okay, why are these movies that you’ve criticised so archly still around 10 years later, 15 years later, 20 years later? It’s because comedy is not a critics’ medium. It just isn’t."

The Harvard group honoured actress Renee Zellweger last week (05Feb09) handing her the woman of the year prize, and dressing her up in a fatsuit.
Last year (08)’s recipient Christopher Walken was made to sing in drag, while Woman of the Year Charlize Theron paraded around dressed as an elephant.

LIGHTS GO OUT ON MACY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:33 pm

Actor WILLIAM H. MACY’s performance on Broadway was plunged into darkness on Tuesday (10Feb09) when a technician accidentally hit the lights before the play had finished.
Macy is currently starring in David Mamet’s Speed-The-Plow after taking over from Jeremy Piven, who quit the production with mercury poisoning last year (08).
But theatre-goers in New York this week (beg05Feb09) were left baffled when the lights went out during the final scene - leaving Macy and his co-star Raul Esparza struggling to complete the performance.
Esparza told the crowd, "Someone has been doing a little too much of this," imitating someone smoking a marijuana joint.
Macy then added, "Can we do our last four lines? Where were we?" After finally completing the scene, the cast received a standing ovation, according to New York Post gossip column PageSix.
Speed-The-Plow will conclude its limited run on 22 February (09).

FAWCETT SUES OVER SWIMSUIT PHOTOGRAPHS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:30 pm

Former CHARLIE’S ANGELS star FARRAH FAWCETT has launched a legal battle over the rights to a famous set of photographs showing the actress in a red swimsuit.
The iconic pictures were taken in the 1970s and turned the star into an international pin-up.
Fawcett filed papers at Los Angeles county court on Friday (13Feb09) claiming that two companies have been using the images without permission, as she owns all of the rights to the pictures.
The star has named Bio-Graphics inc., Pie International Inc. and author T.N. Trikilis in the suit, claiming Trikilis "falsely asserted to third parties that (Fawcett) does not own any rights in the photographs." The papers assert that Fawcett "owns and possesses all the photographs and negatives of all the photographs taken at the photo shoot", accusing Trikilis and executives at Pie of reproducing the photo and selling it on.
Fawcett is suing for a minimum of $100,000 (£69,000).

The man who was driving THE KILLS’ tourbus when it mysteriously disappeared in October (08) has been arrested in Miami, Florida.

"Have a look at his mug on the Miami-Dade County jail website. Good news is, he’s alive. The other good news is, he’s in jail in Florida and he’s bald."
