SOPRANOS star TONY SIRICO reprised his role as a mafia hitman on Thursday (12Feb09) night - to help ALEC BALDWIN become the first celebrity to be "killed off" a TV talk show.
Baldwin was the star guest on U.S. show Late Night with Conan O’Brien - one of the final episodes before the host moves to Los Angeles to take over Jay Leno’s Tonight Show later this month (20Feb09).
The actor has been a regular on O’Brien’s show and asked if he could be "killed off" the programme and make TV history.
Baldwin said, "I’ve been a character on your show. I feel that the only way to go on these kind of shows, is to be killed off.
And I would like to be the first person to be killed off a talk show." O’Brien obliged and invited Sirico, in character as his Sopranos hitman Paulie ‘Walnuts’ Gualtieri, onstage to pretend to strangle the star.

Socialite PARIS HILTON is the latest celebrity forced to deny flirting with CHRIS BROWN on the night of his alleged fight with girlfriend RIHANNA - following a flurry of rumours linking her to the incident.
Hilton is one of a number of female stars accused of causing an argument between the couple by getting too close to the Kiss Kiss singer.
The hotel heiress was seen chatting to Brown at a pre-Grammy Awards party in Los Angeles on Saturday night (07Feb09).
He later left the event with Rihanna and subsequently became embroiled in a police investigation sparked by an emergency call suggesting he had beaten an unnamed female.
Reports later identified the woman involved as his girlfriend, Rihanna, who was allegedly hospitalised on Sunday (08Feb09).
Brown later turned himself in to police and was charged with making criminal threats.
Speculation has been growing about what caused the alleged bust-up, with many internet gossips claiming another woman sparked the incident.
British pop star Leona Lewis and singer/actress Keisha Chante have already denied involvement - and now Hilton has been forced to comment following reports she got cosy with Brown at the pre-Grammy bash She tells Radar Online, "That’s ridiculous and an outright lie. I was not ‘all over him’ as some magazine reported. I said ‘hello’ and that was it. I love Rihanna and that never happened."

Hollywood actress GWYNETH PALTROW is planning a quiet Valentine’s Day this weekend (14Feb09) - because she has no idea where her rocker husband CHRIS MARTIN is touring.
The Shakespeare In Love star has resigned herself to spending the night in with her two children, on the day traditionally celebrated by lovers, as Coldplay frontman Martin is halfway around the world.
She tells the New York Daily News, "It won’t be that exciting. My husband will be on tour and I don’t even know where he is - Australia? - so I’ll be with my kids for Valentine’s Day." Paltrow’s admission will do little to quell rumours her marriage is in trouble - the couple, which has been married since 2003, has been fighting off claims it is to split since last year (08).

A handwritten manuscript of an 1864 ABRAHAM LINCOLN speech has set a new auction record for any American historical document after going under the hammer for $3.44 million (£2.37 million).
The note, for a speech given at the White House shortly after the former U.S. president was re-elected into office, went on sale at Christie’s auction house in New York City on Thursday (12Feb09).
It was purchased by an anonymous phone bidder - on the bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth - and the sale price narrowly beat the previous record of $3.4 million (£2.3 million) set by another Lincoln document from 1864.
The profits will be donated to Dryden, New York’s Southworth Library Association, which was given the historic Lincoln document in 1926, to pay for a new wing of its building.

A German record label credited with discovering BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and HIM has closed.
Great Unlimited Noises - also known as GUN - was launched in 1992 as a joint venture between music giant BMG and former label president Wolfgang Funk.
The label continued business after its parent company merged with Sony records in 2005 but shut down this week (beg09Feb09).
Artists currently on the label’s roster, including Bullet For My Valentine and Lordi, will now be passed on to Sony’s German subsidiaries.
No reason was given for the closure as WENN went to press. .

SIMPLY RED singer MICK HUCKNALL has the answer to the U.K.’s youth crime explosion - tough-love parenting.
The Stars hitmaker has blasted mums and dads who try to be "best mates" with their children, insisting guidance and reasonable discipline are needed to keep kids from going off the rails.
Hucknall, who has a 19 month old daughter Romy, says, "I would like to see the end of this God-awful state of affairs with too many parents wanting to be their child’s best mate - ‘I go out drinking with my son’ or ‘I go out pulling men with my daughter’. That is doing incredible damage.
"Parents should be giving guidance to their kids about who they will be when they grow up. That doesn’t mean disciplining them all the time but it does mean that you have to explain the realities of life."

BRANDON FLOWERS was ecstatic to finally meet his newborn son in the delivery room - because he hadn’t felt like a father throughout his wife’s pregnancy.
The Killers rocker and his wife Tana Munblowsky welcomed their firstborn tot into the world in 2006, after just a year of marriage.
But despite supporting his partner as she carried their child, Flowers insists he didn’t really understand what it meant to be a dad until his son was born.
He says, "It was wonderful attending the birth. They say a man doesn’t become a father until the baby is born, whereas a woman is a mother as soon as she’s pregnant. I guess that is true.
"I was sympathetic to my wife and excited about having a baby, but it didn’t hit me until he was born. That was the greatest day of my life." And even although parenthood is a drain on the couple’s time, they still find time for romance.
He adds, "I know the right time to send flowers. Sometimes it’s not on the calendar and it’s not about Valentine’s Day - it’s knowing when to do it. Now of course a romantic evening is all about getting the baby to bed early. That’s when the romance begins."

ASHLEE SIMPSON-WENTZ has slammed reports her newborn son BRONX MOWGLI is nursing a broken arm - insisting the baby is "fine".
The singer/actress, who welcomed the tot with her husband Pete Wentz in November (08), cancelled an appearance at an Eleven Spa Vegas party in Nevada on Wednesday (11Feb09), prompting rumours her child was unwell.
But the claims have been blasted by Simpson-Wentz’s representative, who blames her no-show on scheduling issues, reports E! Online.

Hollywood heart-throb ZAC EFRON has discovered the perfect way to stamp out bullying - by laughing at his aggressors.
The High School Musical star has witnessed the effects of bullying first-hand - his younger brother Dylan has been a victim of verbal harassment.
And Efron is determined to beat the taunts, insisting the best way to deal with the issue is to laugh it off.
He says, "I wasn’t necessarily the subject of bullying, but I’ve witnessed it a whole lot. I still do at times in life. It doesn’t stop happening at school, it can happen with adults.
"I have a younger brother, Dylan. There have been a couple of times where I’ve been out with him and someone has said a couple of words to him that were not nice, and I’ve had words back. Bullying is one thing I hate in human nature.
"Personally if I had to deal with it, it never got to a situation where it could be considered bullying because I would find some clever way around it. I tend to make a joke. I defer everything with laughter. Even when it’s blatantly disrespectful, I would just laugh it off, to avoid all confrontation, and I still use that on a daily basis."

British supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL has thrown her support behind a major breast cancer awareness campaign after witnessing the devastating effects of the disease on her own family.
The catwalk beauty officially opened a new cancer research unit at a London hospital this week (beg09Feb09) and used the opportunity to open up about her mother’s brush with the killer illness.
Campbell’s mum, Valerie, was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of cancer but after several months of treatment, she is said to be in remission.
And Campbell admits it has been a tough time for all of her relatives.
She says, "It’s something that’s never really happened in my family, so it was researching, reading a lot of books, finding out about how to take care of her, what was the best treatment and where to get the best treatment.
"It just made me more aware because up until that point I hadn’t got checked on a regular basis like you should. I heard about breast cancer but I just thought it’s never going to happen to me. But now I’ve learnt it doesn’t discriminate, this disease, it can happen to anybody. As someone who’s seen breast cancer first hand I know it can be a devastating disease." The $6 million (£4.2 million) unit at London’s Guy’s Hospital has been funded by charity organisation Breakthrough Breast Cancer and is the first of its kind in the U.K.

TORI SPELLING fears her actor husband DEAN MCDERMOTT will cheat on her with a co-star - because the couple fell in love on-set while married to other people.
The pair embarked on a love affair during the filming of TV movie Mind Over Murder, while McDermott was still married to actress Mary Jo Eustace and Spelling was with Charlie Shanian.

Teenage actress DAKOTA FANNING once "lost it" during a chance meeting with BRITNEY SPEARS - because she had idolised the singer for so many years.
The 14-year-old was a big fan of the pop superstar throughout her childhood and once got the chance to see Spears in the flesh, when they accidentally met in a Los Angeles store.
And Fanning admits she was overwhelmed by the experience.
She tells Parade magazine, "I remember when I was very little my idol was Britney Spears. I had just come to California and that’s just who I wanted to meet. So I was in a store and she walked in and my jaw just fell to the floor. I started like sweating.

GLENN CLOSE has laughed off her big-screen success - because she’s constantly mistaken for fellow Hollywood actress MERYL STREEP.

Actor JACKIE CHAN is to donate his collection of historical Chinese houses to a new university in Singapore.
The Rush Hour star owns seven wooden homes dating back to the country’s Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as a decorative performing stage.
The collection, currently housed at a Hong Kong warehouse, is said to be worth more than $67 million (£46 million).
But Chan has decided to make the generous donation to the educational establishment in Singapore, which is due to open in 2010, to make sure the structures are appreciated by students for many years to come.
Chan’s property manager Simon Kwan confirmed the deal, saying: "He loves Singapore. He thinks it’s the best place to donate his houses to provide education and let the people appreciate them." The country’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, George Yeo, adds, "I am very excited about the offer as it comes at a time when we are actively exploring a tie-up between our new university and a leading Chinese university. The Chinese houses would be a wonderful symbol of this proposed partnership."

GREY’S ANATOMY creator SHONDA RHIMES has denied reports KATHERINE HEIGL and T.R. KNIGHT will be leaving the hit U.S. hospital drama - insisting both stars will continue to work on the show.
The pair has played doctors Izzie Stevens and George O’Malley on the programme since it first aired in 2005.
Co-star James Pickens Jr. claimed earlier this week (beg09Feb09) that both actors would be leaving their roles, telling Us Weekly magazine: "Yes, she (Heigl) is (leaving). Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best. (Knight is) going too. He just wanted to pursue other career paths." But Rhimes is adamant the pair will remain a part of the hit series, insisting Pickens must have been misquoted.
She says, "That was a very interesting rumour. And it’s not true. That was absolutely taken out of context. Things happen, and I think rumours become fact very easily. And you know I don’t like to tell you what’s going to happen on the show - but that is a rumour." Pickens now also claims he was misunderstood in the magazine interview - and admits he has no idea whether the Heigl and Knight will stay with Grey’s Anatomy.
He adds, "We’ve been living with these rumours for a long time. When the question was posed to me, I was more trying to congratulate Katie and T.R. on whatever they were going to do. But yeah, I don’t have any special info about it either way."

SIMPLY RED frontman MICK HUCKNALL is "allergic" to modern music and blames TV talent shows for turning the industry into a "karaoke competition".
The Stars hitmaker, who is about to embark on a farewell tour of the U.K., sparked a war of words with Simon Cowell last year (08) when he accused the music mogul of using young singing hopefuls to make money.
Now he has risked re-igniting the feud with barbed comments about the state of music in the 21st Century.

R&B beauty CIARA has finally secured a release date for her new album FANTASY RIDE - three months after it was originally set to hit store shelves.
The Goodies hitmaker was initially gearing up for a December (08) release in time for the Christmas holidays, but the project was pushed back to January (09).
The CD, Ciara’s third solo album, never materialised and the disc’s future was left in limbo - until now.
Fantasy Ride is now officially scheduled for a 7 April (09) U.S. release on Jive Records.
