FRANKLIN RE-RECORDS OBAMA INAUGURATION SONG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

Soul legend ARETHA FRANKLIN has re-recorded the song she performed at U.S. President BARACK OBAMA’s inauguration ceremony - because the cold weather on the historic day meant she could not give her "very best".
Franklin sang My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee live at Obama’s 20 January (09) inauguration in Washington, D.C.
But the rendition in the extreme temperatures disappointed Franklin - so she’s now releasing a reworked version in a bid to give fans the perfect soundtrack to their inauguration memories.
The Queen of Soul says, "It is my objective to always give people the very best, and I couldn’t do that, unfortunately, in 19-degree weather in Washington at the swearing-in ceremony. So the preferred version for me is the very best that I would present singing the anthem.
"January 20 and the swearing-in ceremony was, without a doubt, a career high, and it was a morning to top all mornings to date."

Kanye West is the sole guy in the top five - his Heartless climbs to three.
Meanwhile, Prom Queen - Lil Wayne’s first foray into rock music - is the week’s highest new entry at 27.

OSMOND SENT HOME FROM IDOL WITHOUT A FANFARE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

THE OSMONDS star ALAN OSMOND’s son DAVID is upset with producers of U.S. talent show AMERICAN IDOL for cutting his voiceless performance out of Wednesday night’s (04Feb09) programme.
The Osmond boy was sent home after laryngitis stole his vocals onstage at the Kodak Theatre during the first Hollywood group round of this year’s competition, and many viewers were left scratching their heads when one of the pre-show favourites was ejected without a fanfare.
Osmond, the nephew of Donny and Marie, tells Los Angeles DJ Valentine, "We didn’t perform until 10 o’clock at night. That morning at breakfast, 6.30, we’re rehearsing, we’re going over our tune; it’s killer.
"By lunch, something freaky starts happening to my voice. I cannot explain it - I wasn’t sick, I wasn’t tired.
"By dinner time I could not get a note out; I had full-blown laryngitis. I’ve never in my life had it… I know I have to get up on that stage, I have to take the mic and go up there and sound like the world’s worst singer for 30 million people, and they didn’t show any of it." Osmond felt sure his croaky efforts would have at least made it into the show highlights: "I was baffled when I watched it (the show). I thought for sure it would make great television… I thought it would have been awesome to watch."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

Pregnant pop star M.I.A. has confirmed she’ll be performing at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (08Feb09) - even though she could go into labour at the prizegiving.
