TAYLOR HONOURED AT BBC FOLK MUSIC AWARDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:36 pm

Singer/songwriter JAMES TAYLOR has been honoured with a lifetime achievement gong at BBC Radio 2’s annual folk music awards.
The You’ve Got a Friend musician received the honour from the British broadcaster at a ceremony in East London on Monday (02Feb09), where folk legend Judy Collins was also recognised with the same award.
And Taylor was ecstatic to be recognised at a U.K. prizegiving - because he started his career as the first non-British artist to sign to The Beatles’ Apple Label in the 1960s.
He told the crowd, "It (Britain) seemed like the centre of the universe, it was all happening here and it seemed so unreal." Chris Wood won album of the year for his Trespasser LP, he was also named folk singer of the year.
Other winners at the event included Andy Partridge, who landed best original song for All You Pretty Girls, while folk band Lau took home the best group gong.
