Actor ROBERT PATTINSON thrilled fans by taking to the stage to perform at an open microphone night in London.
The Twilight star has frequently mentioned his love for music, insisting it is a career backup plan should his film roles dry up.
And it seems Pattinson, who also sang on the vampire movie’s soundtrack, was serious about the pledge - he was recently spotted onstage in a Soho pub in the U.K.’s capital.
The hunk sat on a bar stool strumming a guitar - and he impressed the audience by singing two songs which "silenced the room", according to PerezHilton.com.

CHRIS ROCK has branded BARACK OBAMA a stand-up comedian’s worst nightmare because the President-elect is too awe-inspiring to make fun of.
Rock lampoons various public figures in his new comedy DVD special Kill the Messenger - including former White House contender John McCain and his vice-presidential running mate Sarah Palin.
But the comic insists he struggled to write jokes about the successful and charismatic Democrat Obama.
He explains, "He’s just one of those guys, you know, like Will Smith. There’s no Will Smith jokes. There’s no Brad Pitt jokes. You know, what are you going to say? ‘You used to have sex with Jennifer Aniston. Now you have sex with Angelina Jolie. You’re such a loser.’ What do you say? ‘Ooh, your movies are big. You make $20 million.’ There’s nothing to say about Brad Pitt.
"(With Obama) it’s like, ‘Ooh, you’re young and virile and you’ve got a beautiful wife and kids. You’re the first African-American president.’ You know, what do you say?" And Rock, who supported Obama in his campaign for the presidency, is disappointed he won’t be able to witness the 44th president as he is sworn into office: "I have to go to Sundance (Film Festival). I’ve got a movie premiering at Sundance. So I have to go to the whitest place in America - Utah."

Country singer KELLIE PICKLER has adopted an unusual new pet into her home - a Marmoset monkey.
The animal lover already owns a wide collection of pets, including a dog, cat and a python - and now she has added a tiny primate to her growing menagerie.
She writes on her official website, "The Pickler Family has gotten bigger, and no, I didn’t have a kid… I adopted a Marmoset monkey! She is the cutest little thing. She is so tiny, only weighs 3 ounces right now.
"I’m not sure exactly what I am going to name her…so maybe you guys can help me out. She is so sweet and she has the best personality. I absolutely love her!!!"

Music legend QUINCY JONES has followed in the footsteps of rocker BONO by signing up to write a newspaper column.
U2 frontman Bono recently agreed to air his views with an opinion column in the New York Times.
And now Grammy Award-winning producer and composer Jones - who has worked with musical greats such as Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and Donna Summer has penned a similar guest article for U.S. syndication Tribune Newspapers.

BRITNEY SPEARS is planning to tell all about her colourful life - the TOXIC star is reportedly set to sign a $14 million (£10 million) publishing deal.
The 27-year-old first stepped into the spotlight on U.S. TV show The New Mickey Mouse Club in 1992, before launching a solo career and becoming one of the most famous singers on the planet.
And now she is close to detailing her rise to stardom and recent troubles after landing a multi-million book deal to write her memoirs, according to U.K.
tabloid the Daily Mirror.
A source tells the newspaper, "There have been numerous unofficial autobiographies about Britney, but she’s never agreed to pen her own tome until now.
"And some of the stories she’s got are absolute dynamite. She’s kept diaries so there’s nothing she’ll leave out unless she wants to. If the deal goes ahead she will write three and five books throughout the next decade - it’s one of the most lucrative book deals in showbiz history."

HEATH LEDGER saw six minutes of his acclaimed THE DARK KNIGHT performance before his death - and loved every second.
Producer Charles Roven sat the tragic star down while he was working in London for a screening of an edit director Christopher Nolan had cut for IMAX screens.
Roven recalls, "I showed Heath the first six minutes… the bank heist sequence, on an IMAX screen in London.
"I said, ‘You have to see this…’ He watched it, and it just blew his mind.
He was so thrilled, he was just laughing. He said, ‘I want to see it again.’" Roven tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "We showed it to him again. That was the last time I saw him." That was all Ledger got to see of his final completed film. The movie star died from an accidental overdose a year ago (22Jan09), months before The Dark Knight became an acclaimed box office hit.

AMY WINEHOUSE seems to be having no trouble putting her marriage worries aside - the singer has reportedly fallen for another man while holidaying in St Lucia.
The Rehab hitmaker escaped to the Caribbean island in December (08) where she reportedly enjoyed a fling with fellow holidaymaker and British rugby player Joshua Bowman.
Their brief relationship came to a finish when Bowman flew home - but Winehouse has now turned her attention to a sports instructor, who works at the hotel she stayed in before moving to a private villa, according to U.K.
newspaper The Sun A source tells the publication, "Amy has met another chap and they are getting on really well. She has had her eye on this bloke for a while. He is another clean-cut, handsome, healthy bloke - much like Josh." Winehouse is rumoured to be divorcing husband Blake Fielder-Civil, who was jailed last year (08) for causing actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.
Meanwhile, the star has also been doing her best to endear herself to fellow holidaymaker, allegedly splashing out $14,000 (£10,000) in one night on food and drinks for guests.

TOM CRUISE will watch the inauguration of America’s new President on board a plane travelling to London.
The movie star is in Germany, ready for the Berlin premiere of his hit new movie Valkyrie on Tuesday (20Jan09) - and that means he’ll miss the coverage of Barack Obama’s inauguration back home.
But Cruise insists he’ll have the TV special taped, so he can catch up with the historic event as he flies to Britain.

TOM CRUISE is seriously considering turning last week’s (15Jan09) Hudson River plane rescue into a blockbuster movie.
Like all flying enthusiasts, the actor - a keen pilot - was left stunned by US Airways’ Captain Chesley B. ‘Sully’ Sullenberger’s heroics as he landed his plane on the river after the craft collided with a flock of geese upon departure from New York’s LaGuardia airport.
All 155 passengers and crew were safely escorted from the sinking plane, and Cruise still can’t believe the plane landing didn’t become a huge tragedy.
He says, "It’s remarkable." And speaking to U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight, he admits he is interested in turning Captain Sullenberger’s heroics into a major movie.
He adds, "I was with people today and they said, ‘There’s a movie in here.’ I’m thinking about that." The actor is also thinking about calling Capt. Sullenberger personally - to express his admiration for the job his fellow pilot did: "To have done such a heroic job… I know what it’s like, because we train for emergencies and then for it to happen and to have it turn out the way it did - that’s how we want them all to end."

The two men in actress KATE BECKINSALE’s life get on so well, one helped shave the other’s bushy beard off.
Beckinsale, who has a daughter by Welsh actor Michael Sheen - her ex-boyfriend, is married to Underworld director Len Wiseman - and the two guys are good friends.
The actress’ 10 year old, Lily, gets to call both ‘dad’ and the extended family does everything together - even shaving.
Beckinsale explains, "Michael had a huge beard recently and I decided if would be fun if Lily got to shave it off. So we got Len’s clippers and shaved Michael.
"I’m sure that’s why Lily doesn’t feel like she has split parents: your stepfather helping to shave your biological father isn’t something that necessarily happens in every household." And the relationship between Beckinsale’s husband and ex extends beyond family gatherings - Wiseman has directed Sheen in all three Underworld movies, including the upcoming sequel Rise of The Lycans.

Rapper 50 CENT is planning to team up with British singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS on a new record.
The In Da Club star was hoping to hook up with Angels hitmaker Williams to record a track for his 2007 album Curtis.
Williams’ stint in rehab hindered their plans - but 50 Cent hopes they will be able to sort out some recording time together in the near future.
He tells Reuters, "We actually attempted to do it during the Curtis album and I reached out to him and we talked about recording in Los Angeles and then the next time I spoke to him he was on his way to rehab so that didn’t happen then.
“Hopefully on one of my projects in the future we will have a chance to work with each other.”

The makers of WALL-E can add another award to their growing stack of honours the animated film has been named Best Picture Of The Year (08) by The Online Film Critics Society.
The movie also won two further nods, chosen by Internet-based film critics, for Best Animated Film and Best Original Screenplay.
Batman movie The Dark Night picked up four nods, including one for director Christopher Nolan and a Best Supporting Actor gong for the late Heath Ledger in his role as The Joker.

THE WHO’s classic track MY GENERATION has become the new anthem for drinks giant Pepsi’s latest ad campaign.
In the clever new commercial, Pete Townshend’s angry ’60s hit is transformed from a turn-of-the century piano number into a 1920s dinner party tune, to a song from the end of World War Two in the 1940s and a rock ‘n’ roll track from the 1950s, before Roger Daltrey starts belting out the original to accompany footage of a streaker at a 1960s hippie demonstration.
The tune then changes again to match a 1970s disco scene, the birth of hip-hop in the 1980s and the collapse of the Berlin Wall in Germany in the 1990s.
