Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:21 am

Pop band THE TING TINGS have been forced to scrap fancy strobe lighting at their gigs - after drummer JULES DE MARTINO suffered fits on stage.
The 34-year-old suffers from an eye problem that can cause similar fits to epilepsy.
And worried record bosses have now decided to scrap the dizzying flashes from The Ting Tings live concerts after De Martino started to regularly suffer fits.
Singer Katie White tells U.K. newspaper the Daily Star, "We don’t have strobe lighting any more because Jules has been having fits.
That’s the reason he wears sunglasses all the time, to prevent dizzy spells."

50 CENT KEEPING A LOW PROFILE ON INAUGURATION DAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

Rapper 50 CENT was among the millions of Americans in Washington, D.C. for President BARACK OBAMA’s historic inauguration on Wednesday (20Jan09) - but he steered clear of becoming a public face at the celebration, because he wasn’t among those invited to be there.
Speaking before the big day, 50 was making plans to watch the inauguration from "a really nice hotel room" in the U.S. capital - and sources confirm the rap star did indeed make the trip.
But 50 isn’t planning to become one of the celebrities to publicly declare his support to Obama on Inauguration Day - because he wasn’t asked to.
He tells HollyScoop.com, "There’s a whole lot of people out there for no reason doing different things. If Obama didn’t invite you, you really shouldn’t be there; that’s how I feel about it. When I go to places when people didn’t invite me they look at me crazy like, ‘Why is he out there?’" But 50 has spoken out about one thing - he admits he is worried about how the new President will solve America’s recession: "I think he inherited the country in a difficult state… I hope for all of our sake that his plans work for us."

ADAMS GLAD IDOL WASN’T AROUND WHEN SHE WAS A KID

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:45 am

DOUBT star AMY ADAMS is glad AMERICAN IDOL didn’t exist when she was growing up - because it would have wrecked her dream of becoming a star.
The actress is a huge fan of the U.S. talent show, and she fears if it had aired when she was young, she would have been among the hopefuls turning up to auditions - and that would have been a disaster.
She explains, "I would have taken my ill-suited pop voice and gone in and sung some musical theatre song, and they would have put it on air, and I would never, ever (have) ended up here.
"I would have humiliated myself publicly and probably shrunk off and done something else with my life."

RUTHERFORD: ‘I CALLED THE COPS ON MY HUSBAND’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:42 am

GOSSIP GIRL star KELLY RUTHERFORD has revealed she twice called the police on her estranged husband DANIEL GIERSCH, as the couple’s divorce battle gets nastier and nastier.
On the eve of the pair’s court battle over custody of their two-year-old son Hermes, Rutherford has claimed Giersch left her terrified after a row, and she felt intimidated because of his boxing and kickboxing skills.
Rutherford, 40, who is four months pregnant with the former couple’s second child, reveals she reported her husband to the authorities when the pair was staying at the Wales Hotel in New York. She alleges, "(He) kept yelling at me in front of Hermes, and threatening that he was going to take Hermes… He kept saying… that he was going to teach (me) a lesson." Rutherford claims she also called the police after Giersch had "cornered" her at the home they shared in Los Angeles.
In new court papers, she states, "I was crying and (he) was yelling at me…
He was again threatening to take Hermes away." On both occasions, the authorities asked Giersch, 34, to leave, and apparently no arrests were made, according to documents obtained by People.com.
In a statement through his lawyer, Giersch says, "I don’t want to comment because all of these accusations from Kelly are false and are intended to damage my reputation. I am solely seeking what is in our children’s best interest." Lawyers for both parties are due in court in Santa Monica, California on Wednesday (21Jan09).
Rutherford is seeking to ban Giersch from travelling outside the U.S. with Hermes.
Her estranged husband maintains Rutherford’s working conditions have been detrimental to their child, and that he has become his son’s primary caretaker.

LOFGREN TO UNVEIL NEW HIPS AT SUPER BOWL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:39 am

Rocker NILS LOFGREN will unveil his new hips at the Super Bowl when the guitar great steps up to join BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN for the half-time performance.
Lofgren underwent a hip replacement late last year (09) in a bid to end years of pain to his damaged joints - and he has been off his feet ever since.
But the guitarist will make a triumphant return to the live stage on 1 February (09) when he performs at Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, Florida - albeit a careful one, with his "bionic" hips.
The E Street Band star tells Billboard.com, "I’m coming along. I’ve lost the cane. I’ve lost the limp. I’m doing rehab. I’m just trying to be a good rehab patient. I’ve never had to be this cautious, 24-7 with my body, so it’s a new adventure for me.
"But I’ve been assured that if I do the rehab right, in 10-to-12 months my body’ll grow in, around and through these (hips) like roots and vines and lock ‘em in as good as they’re gonna get." But he wasn’t going to let the rehab get in the way of a once-in-a-lifetime performance on football’s biggest stage.
He adds, "From me being a teen football player to joining the E Street Band 25 years ago… to the (Super Bowl bound Arizona) Cardinals, it’s just a beautiful coming together of a lot of elements in my history that are really important to me."

SETTLEMENT REACHED OVER LEDGER ‘DRUG TAPE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:48 am

A legal battle over a video, in which HEATH LEDGER reportedly using cocaine, has been settled.
The footage purportedly showed Ledger among a group of people snorting the drug at Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont hotel in 2006. Leaked segments of the tape appeared to provide no evidence Ledger actually took the drug.
It was sold by photo agency Splash to TV show Entertainment Tonight following Ledger’s death from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in January 2008.
But the footage never aired.
The lawsuit was filed by a woman, known only as Jane Doe, whose hotel room the footage was shot in. She argued she didn’t take drugs and didn’t give her consent for the video to be filmed by her then-boyfriend, a paparazzo.
The details of the agreement between Doe and the agency are confidential.

STING FAILED AT ROCK BAND GAME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:45 am

STING has sent out a warning to fans of videogame Rock Band - it won’t turn them into real musicians, because he is terrible at it.
The former Police frontman has provided a number of his hits for the game, which allows fans to perform using artificial instruments.
But he insists it’s no true measure of musical ability.
Sting reveals, "I contributed to it. They used a few of my songs. It’s good for kids to get into music, but I do wonder if playing the game actually makes you want to play a real guitar. I don’t know if it correlates.
"I’ve tried it, and I can’t do it."

HOBBITS TO RETURN FOR PREQUEL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:45 am

LORD OF THE RINGS star DOMINIC MONAGHAN is convinced he will be returning to the magical franchise for upcoming prequel THE HOBBIT along with co-stars ELIJAH WOOD, SEAN ASTIN and BILLY BOYD.
The actors played a band of mythical Hobbits in the trilogy but none are featured in JRR Tolkien’s prequel novel, which will be adapted for the big screen and directed by Guillermo del Toro.
However, Monaghan is adamant that producers of the epic picture will want to bring back their characters - because they were such a hit with fans.
He tells MTV.com, "They really want us to come back, and I think there’s a really strong chance that we might be back.
"We’re not in The Hobbit, no, but I think the idea in (the producers’) heads is that the trilogy of the Lord Of The Rings films was so beloved by the fans that they’re really keen to try to say thank you for the support that they gave to the Lord Of The Rings movies and possibly bring back some of those characters that they know and love."

SHEEN SCARRED BY JACKSON’S INTERROGATION TACTICS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:45 am

MICHAEL SHEEN was left terrified on the set of a new movie after SAMUEL L.
JACKSON took their torture scenes too far and "cut his finger off".
The pair star together in forthcoming thriller Unthinkable, which sees Sheen portraying a terrorist suspect and Jackson the cop who has to interrogate him.
Filming was emotionally intense - Sheen was shackled and semi-naked in scenes where he was tortured for information by the Pulp Fiction actor.
But the experience also left a lasting physical impression on the Frost/Nixon star - he had his finger sliced open after Jackson became a bit too over eager while the cameras were rolling.
Sheen tells WENN, "I had to be tortured by him for three weeks - it was quite scary. I wouldn’t recommend being tortured by Samuel L. Jackson, he enjoys a little bit too much. I loved doing it though.
"On day one he cut my finger off, I had a scalpel to the genitals at one point and I had to be hosed down. On my first day of filming I came in and I had to be chained to the ceiling, hood over my head, just in my boxer shorts, being hosed down by a soldier with cold air fans blowing on me.
"I said ‘Obviously we’re not going to do this for real, I’m an actor. How will we do this?’, and they went, ‘Oh, we will be doing it, we just won’t be doing it for long.’ They did look after me very well though."
