THOMPSON MOVES OSCARS FROM RESTROOM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

EMMA THOMPSON has been forced to move her two Oscar statuettes from her bathroom at home - to make way for her nine-year-old daughter’s artwork.
The British actress won a Best Actress Academy Award for her performance in 1992 film Howard’s End and garnered her second for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1996 for her adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense And Sensibility.
The prestigious gongs have since taken up residence next to her toilet but Thompson has now had to find a new home for them - to enable space for daughter Gaia Romilly’s drawings.
She says, "I keep them in my office now. They used to be in the downstairs loo (restroom) but my husband got a little fed up of them. So we changed the downstairs loo and now its full of my daughter’s art. My husband said, ‘Take your Oscars and just put them somewhere else please.’ So they’re in my office."

COOPER’S EX: ‘HE PROMISED TO MARRY ME’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

MAMMA MIA! star DOMINIC COOPER pledged to marry and have children with his childhood sweetheart in a bid to win her back - whilst allegedly enjoying a fling with his co-star AMANDA SEYFRIED.
The British actor and Seyfried, who play lovers in the ABBA-inspired movie musical, began their on-set affair at a time when Cooper had temporarily split from Joanna Carolan, his girlfriend of 12 years.
She tells U.K. magazine Grazia, "He didn’t want to (be on a break) but I insisted. He went off to Greece and I knew about Amanda straight away. Dom didn’t tell me - I heard it from friends. I honestly thought it was a five-minute fling.
"During this time I even went to the Mamma Mia! premiere with Dominic. Of course Amanda was there and it was desperately awkward. They weren’t supposed to be seeing each other then but in my heart I knew that they were, and those were the hardest days." After an emotional heart-to-heart, the pair decided to start afresh and vowed to settle down with each other: "After the initial confusion, I suddenly realised I did want to be with Dominic for the rest of my life…
"I said I wanted to marry and have kids and he said that’s what he wanted, too. I completely believed him." But Carolan was left devastated to discover Cooper was still seeing the Mean Girls star behind her back.
She adds, "I took it for granted he’d end his relationship with Amanda. He’d say he had and then I’d hear through friends that he hadn’t.
"He was still always flying off to L.A. where she lives and I know Dom - he’s someone who needs a bosom as a pillow. By then it did feel like betrayal. I realised I was becoming a victim and I refused to be that woman." And although Carolan has kept in touch with Cooper, she struggled to cope with her heartache following their split: "I’ve cried a lot of tears and have woken up to the reality that the future I wanted is never going to happen.
"It was reported that we are back together after he had promised to end his affair. That’s not true. We still love each other, but we’re not together. I also care about Amanda: she’s young and vulnerable and has been upset by what’s been said."

LADY GAGA AIMS FOR LONG CAREER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

Pop sensation LADY GAGA is adamant she will not be a one hit wonder after the debut success of her song JUST DANCE.
The sexy singer shot to the top of the U.K. and U.S. charts with her opening single.
But the star is keen to downplay her achievement - insisting she has plans to put out several records and eventually become a pop icon.
She says, "I don’t wanna be one song. I wanna be the next 25 years of pop music. But it’s really hard to measure that kind of ambition. That kind of blonde ambition is looked at with a raised brow, because most artists don’t have longevity today, especially in fun music that’s about underwear and pornography and money." SQUIRE ART BLOCKS ROSES ‘REUNION’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

Former STONE ROSES guitarist JOHN SQUIRE has cast doubt on rumours the British band is set to reform by lining up a series of exhibitions to showcase his art.
The Fools Gold hitmakers were said to be planning a live comeback at festivals in the U.K. this summer (09).
But Squire has announced four exhibitions of his paintings spread across the year, with a spokesman for the shows insisting the rocker has no plans to return to music.
The first show will open in London on Thursday (20Jan09), and the spokesman says, "This is all John does really nowadays. The Stone Roses is very much a past life for him now. He has made a very good career out of painting." The Stone Roses, whose self-titled debut album was voted the greatest British record of all time by rock magazine NME, split in 1996 after Squire quit.

NOTORIOUS ACTOR ‘HAS CRIMINAL PAST’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

The rapper who plays NOTORIOUS B.I.G. in new biopic NOTORIOUS was arrested in 2008 over a domestic dispute with his wife, according to a new report.
Brooklyn-based hip-hop star Gravy - real name Jamal Woolard - has found fame with his portrayal of late rapper Notorious B.I.G., real name Christopher Wallace, in the film.
But court paperwork obtained by the New York Post apparently shows the new star was charged with misdemeanour assault, menacing and harassment after a domestic incident last September (08).
A source tells the publication that Woolard’s spouse, Trina Younger, phoned emergency services after the pair had an altercation when Woolard returned home late.
But Younger’s mother, who is currently living with the couple as Woolard promotes the film, is adamant there was no violence involved.
She says, "I know he wouldn’t hit her. He’s not like that. Most definitely, they have a good relationship. That’s impossible, I think it’s made up. He’s a loving husband and I never heard of anything like that before in my life." The couple has been married for seven months and together for five years.

U2 HIT BY ‘COPYCAT’ ACCUSATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

A U.S. musician has accused rockers U2 of copying the artwork from one of his albums for the cover of their new LP.
Taylor Deupree, owner of the record label 12k, alleges the artwork on the band’s new album No Line On The Horizon uses the same image as his 2006 album Specification. Fifteen, a collaboration with Richard Chartier.
Both covers feature a photograph by Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto - but the star is adamant the Beautiful Day hitmakers should have done extensive research before selecting the image.
In an entry on the 12kblog entitled U2 Album Cover…Have I Seen This Before?, Deupree writes: "U2’s forthcoming album No Line On The Horizon is nearly an exact rip-off of mine and Richard Chartier’s Specification. Fifteen, which came out a couple of years ago." However Deupree won’t be seeking legal action against the Bono-fronted group - because he is certain he would lose the court case: "This minor ordeal has become more a question of a project that was small, intimate and experimental (and the chance of a lifetime for a small artist) versus the massive pop culture machine. In the end, we all know who wins."

BEYONCE, BLIGE & CAREY STUN AT OBAMA BALL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 am

MARIAH CAREY, MARY J. BLIGE and BEYONCE wowed Washington, D.C. on Tuesday night (20Jan09) at the first presidential Inaugural Ball open to the public.
The Neighborhood Ball celebration was kicked off by will.i.am and featured a string of top stars from the worlds of pop, rock, country, R&B and hip-hop.
Stevie Wonder led a celebrity-studded jam of Signed, Sealed, Delivered, while Carey dedicated her Hero hit to the new U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle before the couple arrived to share their first dance as America’s First Couple.
Introduced by actor Denzel Washington, who got the pre-inauguration festivities off to a proud start at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday (18Jan09), the Obamas danced to Ella James’ At Last, as performed live by Beyonce, who struggled to fight back proud tears towards the end of the standard.
Cameras caught Blige and actress Kerry Washington in floods of tears as they watched the Obamas enjoying their first dance as President and First Lady, but actor/singer Jamie Foxx was more impressed by Obama’s moves: "You can tell that’s a black president from the way he was moving." The ball was co-hosted by Foxx, Queen Latifah, Vanessa Williams and Leonardo DiCaprio, who jetted back from the London premiere of Revolutionary Road to be a part of the festivities.
And Carey’s husband, Nick Cannon, got one step closer to his dream of becoming the official White House DJ by spinning the discs at the bash.
Introducing his wife, Cannon cooed, "Y’all make some noise for my hero, Mariah Carey." Other performers included rapper Jay-Z, Shakira and Alicia Keys, who wowed the crowd with a rendition of her hit No One.
But the highlight came at the end of the party when Wonder and Sting teamed up for a rendition of the British rocker’s Brand New Day.
The Neighborhood Ball was the first of 10 the President and his wife are expected to attend.

LAURIE DOUBLED AS HIS DOCTOR DAD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 am

HOUSE star HUGH LAURIE developed his skills as a fake doctor by taking calls from his medic father’s desperate patients.
As a teen, the British actor sounded just like his doctor dad, and so callers to his home used to mistake Laurie for his father.
He recalls, "Before I could say, ‘This isn’t the doctor,’ they would jump in and say, ‘Doctor, thank God! It’s all exploded. I can’t stop it.’ "I’d reassure them. You’re an adolescent. You’re craving stimulation. ‘Well it sounds like you’re doing the right thing there,’ I’d say. Or, ‘Oh yes, it will probably be all right. Call back if the swelling worsens.’ "As far as I remember, I never lost any patients."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 am

The veteran moviemaker is accused of having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977. He pleaded guilty to the charge before fleeing America and has lived the last three decades in exile.

Polanski, who lives in France, cannot be extradited but faces arrest if he sets foot back on U.S. soil.
