NATALIE COLE TO RECEIVE KIDNEY DONATION FROM SISTER - REPORTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

NATALIE COLE’s sister has offered to donate her own kidney, to help save the ailing singer’s life.
Cole, 58, has been battling ill health since she was diagnosed with hepatitis c in 2008.
According to the National Enquirer, Cole - whose father was legendary crooner Nat King Cole - has been treated for kidney failure since September (08), and doctors have told her she needs a transplant.
The tabloid claims Cole asked family members not to donate, but her sister Timolin, 47, was tested in secret, and has been declared a match for her sick sibling.
Cole is currently too weak to undergo surgery, but doctors are reportedly building up her strength so they can carry out the organ swap next month (Feb09).
A source tells the Enquirer, "After (she learned of the match), Natalie kept saying, ‘I can’t believe this! I’m so blessed. My sister’s giving me a tomorrow. She’s saving my life.’"

LOHAN CRIED AT MOVIE COMPLIMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:54 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN burst into tears after a fan praised her movie career - because she never hears any compliments about her work.
The Mean Girls star was attending the opening of the luxurious Atlantis Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, last year (08) when one of the event’s organisers began talking to her about her acting abilities.
And Lohan admits she was overwhelmed because she so rarely hears any positive feedback about her movies.
She tells Interview magazine, "I was with this guy Jerry Inzerillo recently, who was running the whole Atlantis (event) in Dubai.
"And when I saw him, he started complimenting me, telling me how I reminded him of these other actresses. I literally just sat there… He was just saying these really nice things to me that people don’t really ever say, and I started crying.
"I was like, "Oh, my God, I’m so sorry that I’m crying!" But I was just so emotional about it."

ALLEN RESENTS ALBUM PROMOTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:54 pm

British pop star LILY ALLEN resents giving up her time to promote her new album - because she knows she won’t make any money from the LP.
The Smile hitmaker claims to have only made $72,500 (£50,000) from her debut - 2006’s Alright, Still - despite the record going on to sell nearly two million copies worldwide.
And now Allen admits she feels "angry" towards bosses at her record label for making her undergo rounds of press interviews to publicise her upcoming record, It’s Not Me, It’s You, which is due for release next month (Feb09).
She tells Britain’s Q Radio, "I don’t make any money out of record sales at all. I make money out of touring and syncs, publishing.
"My songs being put on Grey’s Anatomy things like that. I don’t make any money at all from selling an album, which is probably why I feel so angry about doing all this promotion because I am not earning any money out of it, someone else (is) and they don’t have to live with the lasting effects."

HUDSON CRAVES MORE CHALLENGING ROLES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:54 pm

KATE HUDSON is sick of making romantic comedies, and is calling on studio bosses to find her more meaty roles.
The actress has made her name playing love interests and wives in movies such as You, Me and Dupree, My Best Friend’s Girl and current box office release Bride Wars.
But she’s desperate to try something different, telling Elle magazine, "Do I want darker roles? If course. It has to be right though. I’m not just going to make a movie that’s, ‘Oh she’s a whore, prostitute and heroin addict.’" And Hudson blames her predicament on moviegoers, adding, "It is very hard to get female-driven movies made.
"It’s hard to get boys into the theatre. It’s a business. That’s just they way it is unfortunate for us ladies. What you need is a high concept; a movie that women want to see that men don’t feel like you’re twisting their arm to see."

LIL WAYNE CANCELS NEW YORK SHOW AGAIN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:45 pm

Rapper LIL WAYNE has cancelled a planned show in New York for a third time.
The Lollipop hitmaker, real name Dwayne Carter Jr., was originally due to perform in Rochester, New York on 26 October (08).
But the gig was pulled at the last minute because Lil Wayne was unhappy with the standard of the audio equipment.
The date was postponed until 6 December (08) - but that show was cancelled when it clashed with Wayne’s rehearsal time in preparation for his U.S.-wide tour.
And now the new date, scheduled for 21 January (09), has also been scrapped, with the star’s manager, Cortez Bryant, blaming logistical difficulties for Wayne’s third no-show at the event.
Bryant tells Allhiphop.com, "Now that Wayne’s doing these bigger shows, he wants to make sure that all of his fans are getting the same experience. It would have been too difficult to travel with the entire band, then turn around and head to Calgary the next day. We didn’t want the Rochester fans to get any less of a show because of logistics. We wanted to deliver the same calibre show we’ve delivered along the tour." Bryant claims the hip-hop star has promised to add a new Rochester date to his I Am Music tour, which he is planning to extend until the end of March (09).
The tour kicked off in Miami, Florida on 14 December (08).

ISLAMIC PARTY RAMPS UP ‘BAN RIHANNA’ CAMPAIGN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:33 pm

Islamic leaders in Malaysia are pressing ahead with calls to ban RIHANNA from performing in the country - just weeks after she promised to tone down her forthcoming live concert.
The controversy over Rihanna’s saucy stage act has re-emerged after a new report from the Pan-Malaysian Islamic party (PAS) claims her performance, planned for Kuala Lumpur on 13 February (09), would be an insult to Asian values.
The Malaysian government has strict rules when it comes to female performers, and artists are required to cover up from their shoulders to their knees.
The PAS has urged authorities who issue concert permits in the primarily Muslim country to reject the organiser’s application.
The organisation, which has launched protests against the U.S. over its support of Israel in the ongoing struggle in the Middle East, has also warned that ticket buyers are contributing to the United States’ economy.
PAS youth wing leader Kamaruzaman Mohamad tells Malaysian newspaper the Star, "Whether Rihanna realises it or not, we know that the taxes she has paid also contributed to the war in Gaza." Mohamad claims the event would be "akin to insulting Eastern culture, belittling local artistes, internationally causing losses to the country’s economy and supporting Israel’s war policy, which is supported by America".
Umbrella hitmaker Rihanna, who is known for donning flesh-baring PVC corsets and knee-high boots for her gigs, agreed to abide by Malaysian laws earlier this month (Jan09).
Pineapple Concerts, the promoters behind the show, maintained Rihanna’s management is "aware of the country’s regulations and the difficulties of doing a show".
Artists including Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani have previously faced protests in the country for their choice of clothes, and the former No Doubt singer lashed out at the government by claiming she made "a major sacrifice" when she gave in to the dress rules for her show in the country last year (08).

50 CENT TIRED OF SUNDANCE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

Rapper 50 CENT is fed up with watching movies at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah - and is annoyed he doesn’t get enough attention at the parties.
The star - real name Curtis Jackson - has launched moviemaking firm Cheetah Vision and has been busy promoting his new venture at the top U.S. independent film festival this month (Jan09).
The In Da Club hitmaker looks forward to the high profile bashes after a hard day in movie screenings - but he’s irritated the spotlight is not focused upon him enough.
He tells the New York Daily News, "I like the parties, because it’s something to do different than sitting in the theater seats. After watching five or six movies, people start to feel a little drained.
"I’ve seen a few movies, but I got to the premiere, they start announcing all the people who are there, and I’m like ‘What the hell? I’m 50 Cent! I’m here! Tell everyone I’m here.’"

50 CENT OWES CAREER TO JAM MASTER JAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

50 CENT has credited JAM MASTER JAY with his successful career, insisting it was the late hip-hop DJ who showed him how to make music.
The In Da Club hitmaker is currently promoting his documentary The Life And Death Of Jam Master Jay, about the Run DMC star, which is one of the first projects produced by his new production company Cheetah Vision.
And the star - real name Curtis Jackson - maintains he wouldn’t have been able to launch the new film venture if Jam Master Jay, who was shot to death in 2002, hadn’t taught him his trade.
50 Cent initially struggled to land a record deal because album labels were intimidated by his past as a drug dealer - but Jay, real name Jason William Mizell, signed him to his own label and taught him to "count bars, write choruses (and about) song structure".
He tells the New York Daily News, "Jay was a mentor. He’s the first person I went into the studio with (having) the intention of producing a song for an album, which was never released because Jay’s touring schedule was so hectic he wasn’t able to focus on it.
"After Jay, I went to Columbia Records, but that didn’t work… Columbia Records was too scared to even talk to me.
"So I learned to market myself, like Jay had done. A lot of the major labels and companies were ignoring me because they were only looking at my street life.
"It makes me rub it in now. Right in their faces. I want to go into their offices and say, ‘I remember you. Didn’t they fire you yet?’"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN and SAMANTHA RONSON have taken their relationship to the next level - by reportedly setting up a joint bank account.
The Mean Girls star has been dating the DJ since last year (08) but the couple has been plagued by rumours they are on the brink of a split for several months.
But now Lohan has shown her commitment to the relationship by allegedly ploughing some of her wages into an account for the pair.
A source tells Britain’s Daily Express, "Lindsay was reportedly earning £122,000 per episode for her stint on Ugly Betty last year and she’s stashed that into a joint bank account to show Sam how much she loves her." Ronson, who is said to earn as much as $23,460 (£17,000) for a disc-spinning performance, has always been fiercely keen to keep her financial independence and constantly splashes the cash on her actress girlfriend.
The insider adds, "Sam’s very generous to Lindsay. She pays for everything when they go away together and Lindsay wants to show her gratitude by doing this. Sam is completely disinterested in shopping and things, whereas Lindsay loves to spend and always says she wants to be as rich as possible. Having a joint account with Sam is a huge step for her."
