PITT DELIGHTED TO BE UP AGAINST PENN AND ROURKE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:39 pm

BRAD PITT is thrilled with his Oscar nomination for THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, because he will compete against his idols SEAN PENN and MICKEY ROURKE.
The Hollywood superstar has been given a nod in the Best Actor category at this year’s (09) Academy Awards for his portrayal of a man who ages backwards.
The 45-year-old will compete against Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon), Sean Penn (Milk), Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler) and Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) for the coveted gong.
And Pitt couldn’t be more delighted with his competitors - because Penn and Rourke were the "gods" he looked up to when he started making movies.
He tells British morning show GMTV, "When I started out, my gods, so to speak, were Gary Oldman, Sean Penn and Mickey Rourke, so it’s a real honour for me to be sitting at the same table."

CAREY ‘FURIOUS’ AT INAUGURATION SNUB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:36 pm

MARIAH CAREY was "furious" after discovering she would be seated for the inauguration of new U.S. President BARACK OBAMA at Tuesday’s (20Jan09) ceremony - because she was convinced organisers would allow her onstage.
The Hero hitmaker attended the swearing-in and later wowed crowds at The Neighborhood Ball celebration that evening, which also saw performances by Mary J. Blige and Beyonce Knowles.
But singer was left disappointed after being told she would have to sit down for the event, as she thought she would be standing with Obama on the podium, according to reports.
A source tells New York gossip column PageSix.com, "Mariah was in the VIP area, where every celebrity, like Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen, was seated.
"But somehow she thought she’d be up with the Obama family. When she realised she wasn’t, she bailed."

CRUISE: ‘KATIE’S AN EXTRAORDINARY MOTHER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:36 pm

TOM CRUISE has credited wife KATIE HOLMES’ "extraordinary" talent as a mother for keeping their daughter SURI a "happy girl".
The Dawson’s Creek star gave birth to the tot in 2006 and took time out from her career to bring up the couple’s daughter.
And Cruise is certain that Holmes’ attitude to motherhood has helped shape the youngster’s friendly personality.
He tells British morning show GMTV, "She is such a happy girl and I think Kate is an extraordinary mother and very calm." The couple and their two-year-old are constantly followed by paparazzi and throngs of admirers eager to catch a glimpse of the Hollywood family.
Cruise is grateful that onlookers remain "respectful" of his family - because he doesn’t want little Suri to be affected by her parents’ fame.
The actor adds, "People are very respectful, most of the time. We protect her but you don’t want her to be sheltered in any way, and to engage in life and I think that’s like any parent.
"We just keep things calm - as long as we’re not worried about anything. You just do the best you can."

SUTHERLAND TURNED ON TO ACTING BY HIS MOTHER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:36 pm

KIEFER SUTHERLAND was inspired to take up acting after witnessing an amazing performance by his mother SHIRLEY DOUGLAS when he was a teenager.
The 24 star had no interest in a screen career when he was growing up, because he didn’t want to follow in his mother and father Donald Sutherland’s footsteps.
But watching Douglas in a stage play when he was a teenager turned Sutherland’s entire world on its head, and he became obsessed with acting.
He tells U.K. TV show This Morning, "I don’t think either of my parents wanted me to be an actor, and because they were so successful I didn’t want to be an actor. But I saw her when I was 13 and she gave a performance that was so incredible that somewhere between the first and second acts, I forgot it was my mother.
"I realised it has a powerful effect and that sparked an interest, and I fell in love with it. It took a lot for me to finally commit and say ‘This is what I want to do’."

HATHAWAY PRAISES JOHANSSON AND KNOWLES’ FIGURES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:33 pm

Actress ANNE HATHAWAY has championed SCARLETT JOHANSSON and BEYONCE KNOWLES for their curvy figures, praising the pair as good role models for youngsters.
The Devil Wears Prada star has recently been lambasted for being too skinny, although the 27-year-old is adamant she is a "normal shape".
And Hathaway has hailed Johansson, Knowles, and fellow actress Reese Witherspoon for projecting healthy body images in a world where super-slim is often seen as an ideal.
She says, "I don’t think it’s just Hollywood that gives out that message. As a society we put out these unrealistic body images to young women.
"But I’m a normal shape and Scarlett Johansson is not a skinny, skinny girl.
Beyonce Knowles looks after herself and has a beautiful body. Reese Witherspoon looks great."

RUTHERFORD’S BEAUTY JIBE AT GIERSCH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:33 pm

GOSSIP GIRL star KELLY RUTHERFORD’s split from DANIEL GIERSCH just got nastier - she has accused him of waxing his eyebrows.
The actress and her estranged husband both gave evidence during a custody hearing over their two-year-old son Hermes in Santa Monica, California on Thursday (22Jan09).
And after Giersch accused her publicly of having an obsession with shopping and manicures, Rutherford told the court, "It’s not just me. I mean, he gets his eyebrows waxed." The actress also insisted she would quit the teen drama if she was forced to make a choice: "If I’m being asked to choose my career over my son, I choose my son. (But) I need this job to pay my bills, legal bills, and Daniel has offered no support." The court has heard Giersch wants to look after Hermes because he is adamant Rutherford’s filming for the hit show in New York has an adverse effect on their son.
He said, "Hermes doesn’t feel comfortable in New York. He’s in constant fear, not knowing what’s going on. It’s not easy there, it’s not safe, it’s noisy. As a father you see whether a child is comfortable or not." Giersch also told the court Rutherford had been offered a role in a new spin-off of hit show Melrose Place, adding: "(She) told me before we separated that she had been offered a part on that show, which will be filming in Los Angeles, and she would be able to change shows, and continue to work for the same employer but in Los Angeles." As she left the court for the day, Rutherford told reporters, "I’m okay. It’s a lot to do. I’m optimistic. The show has been really great and supportive and family and friends here. It’s helped a lot."

Formerly a quartet, featuring will.i.am and singer Fergie, the Peas have now lost count of their members.
The frontman explains, "Why does the Black Eyed Peas have to be just the four members? Now we have software designers in our group.
"If I’m writing a song I am gonna write it different if I have a software guy right next to me. Why the f**k are we making records the same way when we live in a four-dimensional world?" (KL/LAFR/AV) WENN - THIRD - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS - 23 JANUARY 2009

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

The Grammy-nominated star is renowned for writing sad songs, often describing her sound as "heartbreak soul".
But she has finally penned a less complicated, upbeat tune - and wants the girlband to record it along with a sexy promo.
Adele tells British newspaper The Sun, "I wrote a song for the Pussycat Dolls but I don’t know how to get it to them.
