She told Davis, "I got such chills when you first entered the screen… I started to cry because I thought, ‘Really, the person who deserved it most got this role.’" And proving further she had no hard feelings, Winfrey added, "When I filled out my nomination ballot, you were the first person I put on the ballot."

Pop star LILY ALLEN was introduced to a life of crime at just eight years old when her actor father KEITH ALLEN used her cute looks to help him sell amyl nitrate.
The Smile singer reveals her dad took her to the Glastonbury Festival in England, where he sold drugs to music fans.
She tells Spin magazine, "I was a cute baby, which brought in a few customers, I suppose." And daddy dearest used his daughter again to help him make money in London when she was growing up - the actor would persuade Allen and her brother Alfie to steal his ex-wife’s pots and pans, so he could sell them.
The singer recalls, "We’d sell them at Portobello Market.
"I discussed this with my mum a few months ago, and she thought he was stealing them for his flat, when actually he was stealing them for food money."

HANKS APOLOGISES FOR BASHING MORMONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:51 am

Actor TOM HANKS has apologised to the Mormon community, after slamming some followers "un-American" for backing the gay marriage ban in California.
Hanks hit out at members of the faith involved in the push to pass Proposition 8, which outlawed same sex unions in the state.
He said, "The truth is that a lot of Mormons gave a lot of money to the church to make Prop-8 happen. There are a lot of people who feel that is un-American and I am one of them." High-ranking members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have since hit back, with one spokeswoman telling Fox News, "Expressing an opinion in a free and democratic society is as American as it gets." The outcry from Mormon groups has prompted Hanks to rethink his comments, and, in a statement to People.com, the actor writes, "Last week, I labeled members of the Mormon church who supported California’s Proposition 8 as ‘un-American.’ I believe Proposition 8 is counter to the promise of our Constitution; it is codified discrimination.
"But everyone has a right to vote their conscience - nothing could be more American. To say members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who contributed to Proposition 8 are ‘un-American’ creates more division when the time calls for respectful disagreement. No one should use ‘un-American’ lightly or in haste. I did. I should not have." Ironically, Hanks is an executive producer for controversial U.S. series Big Love - about a group of polygamist Mormons.

HILTON GOES GA-GA OVER LADY GAGA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:51 am

PARIS HILTON is keen to end reports of a feud with Trans-Atlantic chart-topper LADY GAGA - by recording a new tune with the JUST DANCE hitmaker.
Internet reports have suggested tracks on Lady GaGa’s new album The Fame have upset her former Convent of the Sacred Heart schoolmate - because the heiress thinks the pop star is having a subtle dig at her in lyrics about how anyone can "feel famous".
A pal of Hilton’s recently told OK! magazine, "She’s livid that she’s been singled out on the internet as an object of derision over Lady GaGa’s CD." But Paris insists there is no feud - and she’s keen to work with Lady GaGa, whose real name is Joanne Stefani Germanotta.
What’s more she’s thrilled that GaGa has publicly revealed that she’s a big fan of Hilton and her sister Nicky - after the hitmaker recently said, "It’s impressive to be that perfect all the time. In commercial terms, they’ve been quite an influence on me!" Paris tells HollyScoop.com, "I just read about Lady GaGa’s comments and I love her. I think she is an incredible artist. I love her style. I love her music. I listen to her all the time.
"I would love to work with her. She seems so cool. She is a very smart girl… (I’d) love to get in touch with Lady GaGa and go to one of her shows."

BUNCHEN AND BRADY ‘NOT ENGAGED’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

Supermodel GISELE BUNDCHEN has dismissed reports she and American football star TOM BRADY are engaged.
The pair has been subjected to repeated engagement rumours over the past month.
Separate reports alleged New England Patriots quarterback Brady had proposed on Christmas Eve and popped the question earlier this month (Jan09).
But Leonardo DiCaprio’s ex-girlfriend insists she has no sparkling ring to show off to pals.
She says, "I don’t know how people are so creative. First they said he proposed to me in a plane. Imagine, it was December 24, Christmas, we were flying to Boston, then there was some champagne and we celebrated the date.
"Now there’s a new rumour that he proposed to me on last Friday (sic). I wasn’t even there (with him), how can that be true?"

SHEEN: ‘I WAS A DRUNKEN, RAGING MONSTER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

Actor MARTIN SHEEN is set to destroy his good-guy image in a shocking new book, which will expose his past booze-fuelled rages and alcohol problems.
The former TV president has teamed up with writer Christopher Kennedy Lawford to reveal all about his darkest days in Moments of Clarity.
In the book Sheen says, "When I drank, it gave me permission to do things that I normally would not do." And he tells Lawford that he regrets being so violent towards his children when they were young.
In a book extract, obtained by America’s the Globe, the former West Wing star recalls one morning when his actor son Charlie - then 16 - became the victim of his father’s bad temper.
Sheen explains Charlie had come into his sleeping parents’ bedroom to look for lunch money and when he found his mum’s purse was empty, he swore and woke his father, who punched him to the ground.
Sheen remembers, "He looked up at me and for the first time in my life I saw myself. I saw what I looked like in his eyes. I was a monster. I was this raging lunatic who would physically assault his son." The veteran actor changed his ways at that point, but still fears Charlie’s infamous problems with drugs and alcohol were a result of his own bad parenting.
He adds, "I taught him everything he knew. I never got into drugs that way, but I used to drink with the lads on a few occasions."

NEESON GOES TO WAR WITH PINK AND HYNDE OVER CARRIAGE CONTROVERSY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

LIAM NEESON is squaring up against celebrity animal rights campaigners PINK and CHRISSIE HYNDE over New York’s famous horse-drawn carriages.
The singers have joined forces with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to launch a protest against the tourist attraction, claiming the horses are mistreated.
But horse-lover Neeson has stepped up in defence of carriage firms and drivers, insisting the animals are pampered and their owners should be protected.
The actor regularly visits the horses and their owners at the stables on Manhattan’s upper west side, and says, "They’ve been there for a 100 years and they’re an iconic part of New York." He adds, "I know many of these guys and I just hate how the horse-drawn carriage industry is being attacked by animal activists.
"These are the fittest, well-fed, best-kept horses I have ever seen. I’m a horse rider and lover for many years. They have a good life. They work nine-hour days and they have a holiday.
"Seriously. If you’ve ever seen these stables… I’d move in tomorrow." His remarks have upset PETA officials, who have fired back with a sarcastic statement: "Liam, maybe you’re right, let me ponder this for a moment… It does seem like horses would prefer to endure the freezing cold and the panicky booms, noisy traffic, and exhaust fumes of the city over living in a lush pasture.
"And you’re right, they probably much prefer the whips, shouting, heavy gear, traces, and lack of water in the troughs as well as the long shifts trudging for hours and pulling strangers in a half-mile circle all day without rest over living a natural life. Makes sense, right?"

TRAVOLTA ‘FAMILY FRIEND’ DETAINED IN EXTORTION PLOT INVESTIGATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:45 am

The Bahamas former Minister of Tourism has been detained by police for his part in an alleged plot to extort money from movie star JOHN TRAVOLTA.
Obie Wilchcombe was arrested on Friday (23Jan09) as part of an investigation, following claims a local lawmaker and ambulance driver worked together to take a photograph of Pulp Fiction star Travolta’s 16-year-old son as he lay dying after suffering a seizure at the family’s island home on 2 January (09).
His connection to the crime is unknown.
The lawmaker, Pleasant Bridgewater, was arrested on Thursday (22Jan09) and hospital employee Tarino Lightbourne was detained on Friday (23Jan09) - hours before Wilchcombe.
Wilchombe, a close friend of the Travolta family, recently spoke on their behalf, and ironically lashed out at those caught up in the extortion plot, telling the local media, "I thought it was a despicable act." TMZ.com reports the extortion plot does not involve photographs, and the investigation stems from the circumstances surrounding the death of Travolta’s son Jett.

SLASH GETS THE OK TO SUE REALTOR OVER HOUSE DRAMA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:45 am

Rocker SLASH and his wife have been given permission to pursue a lawsuit against a realtor who allegedly conned them into buying a Hollywood Hills home.
The couple has claimed real estate agent Gregory Holcomb, of Sotheby’s International Realty, misrepresented the estate they bought in 2006 - by giving them the impression it was bigger and more guest-friendly than it turned out to be.
The Velvet Revolver star later sold the home and filed for over $1 million (GBP714,000) in damages when the place wasn’t as advertised - it was much smaller and featured inconvenient parking restrictions for visitors.
In court in Los Angeles on Friday (23Jan09), a judge gave Slash and his wife the greenlight to go to trial with Holcomb and his company.
