ROBERTS APPLAUDED BY HINDUS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:55 am

America’s leading Hindus have applauded JULIA ROBERTS for showing them respect during a recent trip to the sacred Taj Mahal temple in Agra, India.
The Pretty Woman star and her husband Danny Moder were spotted visiting the tourist attraction last week (ends23Jan09) - and Roberts was photographed sporting a bindi mark on her forehead - which has delighted the Hindu nation.
Nevada-based Hindu statesman Rajan Zed tells WENN, "Julia Roberts honoured the traditions of India by sporting a bindi on her forehead during her recent trip to India, and we are very happy she did. It was a mark of respect that has not gone unnoticed.
"I would personally like to extend an invitation to Ms. Roberts and her family to visit with me if the trip to India has sparked an interest in Hinduism, and other Hindu leaders here in America would be glad to share their knowledge." Zed, the president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, has urged other top stars to follow Roberts’ example - and show the Hindu faith more respect on TV, film and in music videos.
Last year (08), the USH demanded apologies from Heidi Klum, Mike Myers and Natalie Portman for their ill-advised portrayals of Hindu figures - Myers played a Hindu spiritual leader in The Love Guru, Klum dressed up as Hindu Goddess Kali for a Halloween party and Portman portrayed Hindu princess Carmensita Saplingita in then-boyfriend Davendra Banhart’s video Carmensita.
Zed says, "Since Hollywood has such a worldwide reach, Hollywood bigwigs and stars should become familiar with at least the basics of world religions to understand the feelings of their audiences better." Roberts isn’t the first non-Hindu to sport a bindi in public - Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Shania Twain, Shakira, Nelly Furtado and Britney Spears have also turned the religious sign into a fashion statement in the past.
A bindi is a small round mark of vermillion applied in the middle of the forehead close to the eyebrows. Besides decoration, the bindi is said to symbolise good fortune. It strengthens concentration and retains energy; protecting against bad luck and demons.
Zed admits he has been aware of Roberts’ interest in Hinduism for years: "She has a production company called Red Om Films, and Om in Hinduism is the mystical syllable containing the universe, which is used to introduce and conclude religious work."

WINEHOUSE LOVE LETTER TO BE USED IN DIVORCE BATTLE?

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:54 am

A love letter AMY WINEHOUSE sent to her incarcerated husband is set to become a leading item in the couple’s impending divorce battle, according to the singer’s mother-in-law.
While Winehouse insists she’ll fight to keep her marriage intact, jailed Blake Fielder-Civil has vowed to avoid all contact with the troubled star, according to his mother Georgette.
Fielder-Civil’s mother tells People.com, "Blake doesn’t want a reconciliation with Amy now." And she reveals he may use one of her love letters to back up demands for a share of his wife’s fortune.
In the hand-written note, the Rehab singer, who is believed to have used her then-boyfriend as the inspiration for songs on her hit Back To Black LP, promises to write songs on her next albums especially for Fielder-Civil, 26.
Georgette says, "It (letter) was not designed to be used in the divorce.
We’ve done a lot of soul searching. She did love Blake very much. It is a shame he is no longer in love with her, but it shows how important Blake was to Amy.
”Amy’s been incredibly cruel with her comments. It was so unnecessary. This love letter completely contradicts what she’s been saying. It will be an important part of his divorce case.” Winehouse is currently on vacation in the Caribbean, where she reportedly romanced a British rugby player.

BOY GEORGE IS A HIT IN JAIL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:45 am

Jailed pop star BOY GEORGE has been given a break behind bars - because he’s too popular.
The former Culture Club star feared he’d be beaten up or worse during his time at North London’s infamous Pentonville prison, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Guards and fellow inmates have been so welcoming, according to reports, officials have had to move him to a "softer" part of the tough jail.
A prison insider tells blogger Perez Hilton, "The governors were taken aback by how popular he was. A lot of the guys are of the age when they remember what a big star he was and how good the Culture Club songs were. But some officers were being too kind and giving him smokes (cigarettes).
"It’s ironic that he was worried about getting beaten up in Pentonville, but all that happened was people showered him with so much attention and kindness that they had to move him anyway." George, real name George O’Dowd, was sentenced to serve 15 months behind bars earlier this month (Jan09) for chaining Norwegian Audun Carlsen to a hook in a bedroom at his East London apartment in April 2007.

WILLIAMS WILL NEVER REJOIN TAKE THAT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:24 am

Pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS has vowed never to rejoin his old TAKE THAT bandmates - and is determined to outstrip them in the charts.
The Angels star has hired a personal trainer as part of an attempt to rekindle his ailing solo career, according to British tabloid News Of The World.
And, contrary to speculation, Williams has said his future plans do not involve his former colleagues, who are currently enjoying a successful comeback.
Williams tells a source, "I’ve got plans which involve me and nobody else.
I’m going to beat them in the charts; I’ll sell more records than anybody else." His comments will upset his old bandmates, who have hinted at a possible reunion with the singer in 2009.
At the end of 2008, Williams went so far as to reveal he and his former bandmates had held discussions about the singer rejoining the boy band.
In a heartfelt post on his website, Williams wrote, "We got together a lot over the summer. It was amazing. We’ve all matured a lot since we parted. I’m very pleased to say the differences we’ve had have just melted away.
After they left I felt like a ton of bricks had been removed from my shoulders. We’d put right what an awful lot of other broken bands fail to do…
The thing that struck me the most was how much fun they’re having. It’s more rewarding when you’re a gang. Ever since I left Take That I’ve wanted to be in a band." Williams even confessed to having the Take That symbol tattooed on his skin.
And Take That star Mark Owen revealed he felt sure there would be a surprise reunion in 2009: "With Rob, it would be an unannounced thing. I’ve a feeling that halfway through the show we’d get a message to say that he wanted to come up and sing a song. I doubt it’d ever be a prepared, organised thing. If he does turn up it’ll be a nice surprise."
