Australian singer EMMA SOPHINA has penned a new tune after escaping the miraculous New York City plane which crash-landed in the Hudson River.
The 26-year-old - real name Emma Cowen - has praised pilot Captain Chelsey B. Sullenberger, whose quick thinking helped save the lives of all 155 passengers and crew on board US Airways Flight 1549 on 15 January (09).
And she’s put her thanks to music with the help of Grammy-winning producers Tony Black and Mark Swersky.
Sophina tells the New York Daily News, "It’s definitely a thank you for the pilots. The song is called Send Another Prayer.
"I was praying, everybody was praying around me. Whether they were confessing their sins or just praying, everybody was just doing it.
"They’ve given me the gift of life. They’ve let me go on to pursue my dreams. The song is about the fact that I have new life again. A fresh new life." Investigators confirmed last week (beg19Jan09) Sullenberger was forced to land after a collision with a flock of geese upon departure from New York’s LaGuardia airport en route to Charlotte, North Carolina.

HOT CHOCOLATE frontman ERROL BROWN knew he had a smash hit on his hands when he penned YOU SEXY THING - because it took him just minutes to write.
The singer insists classic songs came "naturally" to him, and he would always dump any tune that proved too difficult to complete.
And when he finished You Sexy Thing - which became the group’s most famous song - he knew it was perfect because it passed his time test.
Brown tells WENN, "I lived in an apartment in Hampstead (north London) and I was just in there by myself strumming on my guitar and the title came into my head. And I thought, ‘Now that’s a good title for a song’.
"So I wrote it really about the lady I was involved with at the time, who eventually became my wife! It was done in 10 minutes really. Most of the hit songs, if they gave me too much trouble I’d drop them. That was the benchmark - whether it was coming out naturally." And he wasn’t shocked when You Sexy Thing helped British movie The Fully Monty scoop the 1998 Oscar for Best Music, as every generation falls in love with it.
He adds: "I’m never surprised with that song because it’s been a hit in three decades, which is more than any other song I’ve ever done, so every generation seems to find some way to use it. It’s gonna have another day in the sun too! And it’s been in such a lot of films, it’s been in a lot of films in America now - tons of them."

Slash - real name Saul Hudson - tells Blender magazine, "I was 12 or 13 - my dad and a bunch of his friends had a party and made this insane punch. Steven and myself got into the punch. And I learned that the cure to a hangover was to keep drinking. That’s probably what kickstarted the years and years of binge drinking. It turned into a 24/7 party from that day on."

Fallen rap mogul MARION ‘SUGE’ KNIGHT is facing a $6.8 million (£4.9 million) handling charge from the lawyers behind the recent sale of his former label Death Row Records.
The assets of Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur’s former home went under the hammer earlier this month (15Jan09) and was sold to Canadian company Wide Awake Holdings for just $18 million (£13 million).
Death Row co-founder Knight lost the rights to the label’s assets after declaring bankruptcy in 2006 - but lawyers from Kaye Scholer, who organised the auction, claim his "gangster-style" business operations left them scrambling around to get hold of all the assets.
Explaining the hefty fee, a statement from the law firm reads, "The representation of the Trustee in this case has been particularly complex due to the individuals involved in the company’s operations and intentionally illicit ‘gangster-style’ business operations of the debtor (Knight)." The bankruptcy case fee application goes on to detail a number of assets Knight attempted to hide, including "a Malibu (California) home, that Knight transferred to friends in an effort to shield those assets from creditors, a secret storage locker in Michigan that contained a ‘treasure trove’ of unreleased songs by famous Death Row artists (and) other secret tracks - and records of hidden bank accounts - stashed in a southern California warehouse."

AMY WINEHOUSE’s jailed husband has written an emotional letter to his parents detailing his "disappointment" at his wife’s recent behaviour.
Lawyers for Fielder-Civil, jailed in the U.K. for causing actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice, filed papers earlier this month (Jan09) in a bid to bring the couple’s 20-month marriage to an end.
The move was said to be sparked by reports linking Winehouse to former rugby player Joshua Bowman during her current sunshine break in the Caribbean - but the pair has denied they were romantically involved, with the singer vowing to salvage her relationship with her husband.
Fielder-Civil has now revealed his reasons behind his decision to break-off his relationship with the star, blaming Winehouse for talking about their sex life and allegedly cheating on him while he has been behind bars.
The letter, obtained by British tabloid the News of the World, reads, "Does anyone deserve this kind of treatment? Am I that bad? Amy’s words and actions have disappointed me a lot.
"The comment on my ability in the bedroom has caused a lot of humour among my fellow inmates. I must try harder with my next girlfriend! "It would be all too easy to get into a war of words. The impulse to retaliate is strong but the need to act with dignity and respect is a must.
I’ve taken everything on the chin and had my character assassinated but I’ve got nothing to prove to anyone. I know what I’m made of. I’ve made mistakes and I’ve been punished. In short, I want to be left alone." Fielder-Civil married the Back To Black star in Miami, Florida in 2007.

KIRSTEN DUNST is rumoured to be enjoying a new romance with fellow Hollywood star JOSH HARTNETT after the pair was reportedly spotted enjoying an evening out in New York.
The actress, who has recently been linked to actor Justin Long and filmmaker Jacob Soboroff, was spotted having dinner with Hartnett at a Manhattan sushi restaurant on Thursday (22Jan09) night.
A source tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "They were whispering and smiling at each other. At times it looked like she wanted to grab his hand, but stopped. The Smile singer is the product of a Catholic school upbringing, and was once taught by nuns - and she contemplates becoming one every time the media takes aim at her.

Dog-lover JOAN RIVERS is suffering nightmares after fearing she ate man’s best friend in China.
The comedienne took her first trip to the country last year (08) as part of a charity project, and is convinced one mystery meat she ate on a night out was dog.
She says, "You say to them, ‘Is this dog? Just tell me,’ and they say, ‘No, no, no…’ (but) I know I ate dog.

Movie veteran JAMES EARL JONES has a secret passion for goats.
The actor, who picked up a Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement honour in Los Angeles on Sunday night (25Jan09), grew up on a goat farm in Mississippi and admits he still rears the creatures.
Jones, the voice of Darth Vader, has a goat farm in upstate New York and admits he’d like to turn his herd into food items.
He explains, "I threaten to (eat them) but my family says, ‘No.’ We don’t eat pets."

BURT REYNOLDS has fallen in love again - with a dog.
The movie veteran, 72, recently took in a rescue pooch from a shelter in Jupiter, Florida after telling staff there she reminded him of Steve McQueen.
A source tells the Globe, "He couldn’t resist the pooch’s big brown eyes." Reynolds took the lucky dog, called Precious, home with him and promised to give the once-mistreated mutt a lot of care.

The actor father of Angelina Jolie hits the canyons and streets near his Los Angeles home twice a week for a stress-free jog and he thinks that reverse running helps clear his head.
He says, "As you get older, you have to do something to keep yourself fit.
You have to watch what you eat and I have a little regimen I do that I don’t tell anybody about.
"A couple times a week I go running and I run backwards. I run up hills."

STEVE MARTIN urged PINK PANTHER 2 producers to write in an unlikely wedding for his bumbling INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU into the script - because all his films that end with a marriage have been hits.
Clouseau weds Emily Mortimer’s character Nicole in the new comedy after funnyman Martin got his way.
He says, "I said, ‘I have to tell you that every movie I’ve done that ends in a wedding or holding a baby has been a hit.’ "I do believe we’ve taken the Pink Panther somewhere else and, in a sense, made it our own." And Martin, who is the fourth actor to play Clouseau on screen, already has an idea for the start of Pink Panther 3.

A woman who runs a Hollywood public relations company is suing the organisers of the recent Golden Globe Awards - after she tripped and fell on the red carpet.
Monica Matulich, who runs PR Hollywood, has filed papers at Los Angeles County Superior Court claiming she stumbled on a "defective" section of floor when she took the prestigious walk up to the glamorous event on 11 January (09).
The lawsuit states that Matulich hurt herself when she took the tumble and blames a "fabric flooring which appeared to be suitable for walking but was defective, unsuitable and dangerous." Matulich has named a variety of companies connected with the awards ceremony in the suit including AOL Time Warner, Time Inc., In Style Magazine, Tom Ford Design and American Turf and Carpet, as well as the host venue, L.A.’s Beverly Hilton Hotel, according to TMZ.com.

A wardrobe department employee on actress BROOKE SHIELDS’ TV show LIPSTICK JUNGLE is in big trouble after he was caught trying to sell the designer clothes from the series online.
Arthur Moreira was allegedly caught attempting to sell the gowns Shields and her co-stars wore on auction website eBay.com.
According to reports, the savvy assistant’s plan was foiled when one French designer spotted an exclusive bag he had loaned the show for sale online - and alerted the authorities.
In a raid on Moreira’s apartment, police found coats, gowns and accessories from fashion houses like Prada and Gucci, according to PerezHilton.com.

Former CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION star GERALD McCULLOUCH found himself at the centre of a real life crime recently when he was attacked on the New York subway.
The actor was using his laptop on a train when a man attempted to grab the computer and run for the door.
McCullouch, a keen boxer, punched his assailant in the chest before the man allegedly turned on him, wielding a knife.
And the star admits he had a lucky escape when a team of police eventually came to his rescue.
He tells the New York Daily News, "It was about 2am. I noticed someone cross in front of me. Just as the doors opened, he reached for the laptop. I guess he thought he’d grab it and dash out the door, but I gave him a body shot to the chest.
"That’s when he pulled a kitchen knife out of a black plastic bag. The other passengers started running out the door. That’s when the knife came down into my back. I don’t know whether he lost his grip or what, but the blade didn’t penetrate my leather jacket.
"I think I punched him again as the doors closed and the train started leaving the station. I thought, ‘Great, now I’m alone in this car with him.’ "The train was halfway out of the station when it stopped. Then about 10 cops jumped on the train and got the guy handcuffed on the floor. I told them the guy had a knife. They found it hidden under a seat or something." And McCullouch is full of praise for the officers who helped him.
He adds, "The police couldn’t have been greater. I signed a lot of autographs. I don’t know whether it was because of CSI, but they gave me a lift to my place in Manhattan." Police arrested James Torres, 39, in connection with the incident. He was charged with robbery, assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon and is due in court on 23 March (09).

Rockers BLACK LIPS have been forced to cut short their tour of India following a run-in with police over their raunchy onstage antics.
The band were half-way through a seven-date tour on the country when troubled erupted at their gig in Chennai on Friday (23Jan09).
Guitarist Cole Alexander is said to have infuriated promoters by stripping off and jumping into the crowd, before proceeding to get back on stage and kiss other band members, according to Indiecision.com.
The behaviour left promotion company executives fuming, prompting them to inform police and cancel the rest of the tour - forcing the startled band to flee.
A statement from the group reads, "They (the promoters) tried to get security to restrain us until the Tamil police arrived. We locked the door while they were kicking and banging on it. Meanwhile, we slipped out the other emergency exit." The band claim they were then forced to drive ten hours to the next town but faced yet more problems.
They add, "When we got to the next hotel a mysterious man and someone who worked for our Indian booking agency tried to run off with our passports.
That’s when our VBS.tv documentarian Rob went postal (got angry) on them. We surrounded them until they gave back our passports. After that we booked the first flight to Berlin.
"For future reference, we really enjoyed the people of India and we hope western rock bands will be able to tour there in the future."

ROLLING STONES star RONNIE WOOD has parted ways with his business manager of six years, his stepson JAMIE.
The veteran rocker split from his wife, Jamie’s mother Jo, last year (08), after the star’s affair with Russian waitress Ekaterina Ivanova was exposed over the summer.
And now Wood has also parted ways with Jamie, Jo’s son from a previous marriage, who managed all his financial affairs.
The 61-year-old has now reportedly hired a new team of solicitors to look after his business arrangements.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Telegraph, "There’s been a split in the family and Jamie is standing by his mother. Ronnie is recording an album in the States and Jamie had to be in constant contact with him for work. It proved too much. Jamie was not sacked, nor did Jo demand that he resign but he made the decision for the family." Wood walked out on wife of 23 years in July (08) and is now potentially facing a multi-million dollar divorce battle.
