SWAYZE STILL UNDERGOING CANCER TREATMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

PATRICK SWAYZE’s publicists are slamming U.S. tabloid reports the actor has abandoned treatment for pancreatic cancer, insisting there is "no truth" to the allegations.
The National Enquirer claimed the Dirty Dancing star, who was diagnosed with the fatal disease last year (08), had quit all chemotherapy and was preparing for his final days after allegedly being told his condition was "inoperable".
But Swayze’s representative Annett Wolf has blasted the rumours, saying: "The reports are not true. Patrick is continuing his treatment." The star was recently released from hospital after undergoing treatment for pneumonia, but he insisted he was fighting the illness as best he could.
He told reporters, "I am still alive and plan on continuing to stay that way."

WOOD BLASTS PRESS AND ROURKE OVER ROMANCE REPORTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

EVAN RACHEL WOOD has lashed out at her THE WRESTLER co-star MICKEY ROURKE for fuelling reports the pair is dating.
The young actress, who plays Rourke’s daughter in the film, admits she feels "disrespected" by press reports she and the actor are an item - and she’s partly blaming him for the rumours.
The couple reportedly locked lips at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (25Jan09), fuelling romance rumours - and the actress is sick of all the speculation.
In a statement, she writes, "I’m upset because I feel disrespected by the press and by Mr. Rourke. Just because I’m single doesn’t mean that you can take advantage of me. It’s unfair that the performances (in the film) might suffer because of all of these distractions." And Wood, who recently split from shock rocker Marilyn Manson, insists she isn’t even attracted to her The Wrestler co-star: "He’s too old for me. Nothing ever happened and nothing ever will."

KUTCHER CRAZED OVER BUILDING ALARM CALL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

ASHTON KUTCHER and his next door neighbour have gone public with their war of words over a Hollywood building project which is giving the actor a headache.
Kutcher claims screenwriter Bruce Goldsmith has been restructuring his home for four months, and now building work has started at 7am every morning.
The Just Married star is woken up by the sound of pounding hammers - and he’s had enough.
On Thursday (29Jan09), angry Ashton took his complaints online via his Twitter.com account - and followed those up by airing his grievances on Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest’s breakfast show.
Kutcher raged, "He’s built, like, a fort next to our house and I wake up every morning to people pounding on steel at 7am… He’s got a bulldozer down there and I’m gonna hijack it in the middle of the night.
"I’m gonna start cutting down trees at four." And Goldsmith has fired back after his neighbour called him a "jackass" and threatened, "I’m gonna lose it on this guy" during his Twitter chat, posted minutes after the actor was woken up by construction work.
The writer tells TMZ.com, "He (Kutcher) just doesn’t want to deal with reality… He’s out of line… They don’t make hammers covered with rubber." Goldsmith insists he’s doing nothing wrong - Los Angeles laws allow him to start construction work at 7am.

And the actress recalls falling for Ledger the first time they worked together. She tells Parade magazine, "I hadn’t really been that familiar with his work and then, when I got to the set and did that first scene with him, I was like, ‘Wow! This guy is alive.’ "It was just something deep in his eyes. You could look into them, and they would tell a thousand stories in one glance. There was a wonderful mixture of power and fragility at work in everything he did, which just pulls you in. His strength didn’t scare you. It intrigued you."

SWIFT TO LAUNCH BUDGET DRESS LINE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

British rockers THUNDER are to split after a final tour this summer (09).
The group will celebrate its 20th anniversary on the road before calling it quits.

"Having discussed it at length, we’ve decided that this is a fitting time for us to hitch up our wagons and ride into the sunset. We’ve therefore decided to give you advance notice that we intend to cease all recording and touring activity, as of the summer of 2009." "We couldn’t make our exit without saying goodbye to U.K. fans, so we’ve arranged a final U.K. tour, which will take place in early July. We’ve played loads of fantastic shows over the last 20 years, but we want all the shows between now and when we go to be the best we’ve ever done. We really hope you’ll want to be there to help us to do that." The band’s final show will take place at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on 11 July (09).

NEDERLANDER HOPEFUL FOR SPEEDY THRILLER SETTLEMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Theatre impressario JAMES NEDERLANDER is "confident" a lawsuit involving former collaborator MICHAEL JACKSON and THRILLER video director JOHN LANDIS will be settled amicably.
Landis filed suit against Jackson in Los Angeles last week (ends23Jan09), claiming he’s owed royalties cash for his work on the iconic promo and related spin-offs.
In his suit, the moviemaker alleges he has a deal in place with the superstar, which entitles him to 50 per cent of the net profits from the video and related material.
Nederlander is also named in the legal papers - because Jackson has reportedly sold the rights to the promo to executives at Nederlander Organization, who plan to turn Thriller into a Broadway spectacular.
But the Broadway producer is hopeful of a swift conclusion to the case.
In a statement released on Thursday (29Jan09), he says, "I’m confident that these past differences can be worked out."

DAISY DUKE STAR DEFENDS SIMPSON’S CURVY FIGURE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

THE DUKES OF HAZZARD’s original DAISY DUKE, CATHERINE BACH has leaped to JESSICA SIMPSON’s defence, branding reports about her protege’s ballooning weight "vicious".
Simpson played sexy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard movie in 2005, and Bach has been a fan ever since.
She insists criticism of Simpson’s recent weight gain is offensive to all women, and Bach, 54, claims media outlets are giving young girls the wrong message about their growing bodies - by poking fun at Simpson.
She tells U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight, "I think it’s a shame that Jessica has been viciously attacked for superficial reasons. It sends a bad message to our young girls that, in order to fit in, you have to be skinny and your outfits better make you look skinny, too.
"What I hope my daughters are learning from me is to respect themselves, honour their bodies, and show compassion and kindness towards others." Simpson’s sister, Ashlee, also slammed gossips earlier this week (beg26Jan09), insisting she was "completely disgusted" by the attacks on her older sister’s fuller figure.
