RADCLIFFE ‘FLATTERED’ BY GAY FANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

HARRY POTTER star DANIEL RADCLIFFE is always happy to meet his male admirers - because he feels "flattered" when gay fans have a crush on him.
The actor has appeared naked onstage in both the West End and Broadway in the play Equus - a role he admits has won him a large following in the gay community.
And he insists the male supporters are a welcome change from his hordes of screaming female fans.
He tells the Daily Beast website: "For a lot of straight guys - and I know I’m guilty of it sometimes - when you know a gay guy has a crush on you, it is the most flattering thing." But the 19-year-old has always been comfortable around homosexual men, crediting his showbusiness upbringing for teaching him tolerance towards other lifestyles.
He adds: "My mum was a casting director and my dad was a literary agent and I was surrounded by gay men from a very young age.
"And I was the only boy in my class at school who had that kind of relationship with gay men. Most of my friends had parents who had proper jobs in banks and law firms so none of them had been exposed to homosexuality in the way I had - as a normal course of things. So they had a rather different attitude toward it than I."

RADCLIFFE INVITES OBAMA GIRLS TO HOGWARTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

HARRY POTTER star DANIEL RADCLIFFE is the latest celebrity to issue a special invitation to U.S President BARACK OBAMA’s daughters - offering up a personal tour of the magical film set.
Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers have already offered entertainment to big fans Malia, 10, and Sasha, seven, as their dad prepared for his inauguration into office on 20 January (09).
And the British-born star is keen to follow suit, telling the Daily Beast website: "(Obama) is a symbol of progress which is what we dig about this country. What you love about England is all the old buildings and such. The traditions. I love that, too. But this is what we want from you.
"I’d like to take this opportunity to issue a public invitation to the Obamas that if their daughters would like a private tour of the Harry Potter set, I would be honoured to be their personal tour guide." But the humble actor admits he’d understand if the first daughters would rather hang out with another teen idol, Twilight star Robert Pattinson.
He adds, "(Pattinson) is much prettier and can be much more charming. And he can do that thing of being sultry and sexy.
"Rob can just sort of stand there and look at something and start to smoulder. And I just can’t do that. I’m a natural fidget."

50 CENT ADMIRES ‘GANDHI-LIKE’ JAY-Z

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

Rapper 50 CENT is constantly in awe of the way JAY-Z handles his critics - likening the hip-hop mogul’s calm approach to spiritual Indian leader GANDHI.
The In Da Club star, real name Curtis Jackson, admits he could never stand by and see others disrespect him without wanting to retaliate, but it’s a quality he admires in the Roc-A-Fella CEO.
He tells XXL magazine, "Jay-Z is Gandhi… He’ll bear the disrespect for what? For working to be in a great position. So for creating the comfort that he desires for his life, he has to bear the disrespect. Because they’d like to be where he is. That’s an interesting concept because Jay (would) rather just let ‘em go.
"My take on it is, yeah, I’m gonna say something back, and he gonna wish he never said what he said. He gonna wish he never came around here sniffing around me." Gandhi, a celebrated civil rights leader, led India to independence in 1947 using a non-violent approach.

WILLIAMS MOVING BACK TO ‘ALCATRAZ’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

Singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS is planning to leave behind his quiet life in Los Angeles to move back to his native U.K. - despite feeling like a prisoner the last time he resided in the country.
The Angels hitmaker quit Britain several years ago to escape the constant paparazzi intrusion and live in relative seclusion in L.A.
But, according to Williams’ sister Sally Symonds, he now wants to return home with his on/off American girlfriend, 29-year-old Ayda Field.
She tells Hello magazine, "Last time he lived in England, he was so high-profile he could not get any peace. He was living in London and resorted to buying a flat on the 15th floor. It was like Alcatraz." And Williams has already reportedly purchased a house in the quiet countryside area of Wiltshire, where he hopes to set up home.
Symonds adds, "Robert has missed Britain. He has wanted to come back for the past 12 to 18 months. He loves the British culture and the British people and he wants to spend more time here. He has enjoyed living in L.A. - he can move around freely and the sun always shines. But it’s a pretty soulless place."

The 30-year-old, who shares sons Sean Preston, three, and Jayden James, two, with Spears, accepted an invitation to join the feast on Sunday (25Jan09), reports People.com.
Federline reportedly arrived at Spears’ new Hollywood Hills home at noon to pick up the boys from their weekend visitation.
But after the singer’s dad, Jamie, extended a hand to his ex son-in-law, Federline reportedly enjoyed the day with the Spears family, and reportedly returned home with the boys five hours later.
Federline was awarded custody of the children in 2007, a year after splitting from Spears.
The pop star officially handed legal and permanent conservatorship of her estate over to her father earlier this month (07Jan09) - almost a year after he was first put in charge of his daughter’s affairs following a series of public meltdowns.

CONNICK JR’S HOME INVASION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

Jazz singer HARRY CONNICK JR. broke into his childhood New Orleans home after it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, so he could show his kids where he grew up.
The clean-cut New Orleans native has remained actively involved in efforts to rebuild the city that was damaged in 2005 by Katrina, which killed an estimated 1,836 people and left thousands more homeless.
The singer has urged celebrities to visit the area in an effort to rebuild its struggling economy.
And Connick Jr. admits he didn’t wait for the family who lived in his childhood home to return before leading his own brood through its remains after it had been ravaged by the storm.
He says, "We were pretty lucky. I took them to the house that I grew up in, Lakeview, a few blocks from where the levee broke.
"The house was open. We went inside the house and we had no right to do that. It was amazing walking through the house where I grew up and nothing was there."

MINNELLI ‘REHEARSED’ HER WAY BACK TO HEALTH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

LIZA MINNELLI credits her theatrical background and her inspiring father with helping her recover from a crippling virus that robbed her of her voice and the use of her legs.
Minnelli was diagnosed with encephalitis in 2000, at the age of 54 - and doctors told her she’d never walk or talk again.
She explains, "All these doctors were around me. They said, ‘You’ll never walk again, you may not talk again, but you’re alive.’ "I panicked. The only think I knew how to do was perform." But the superstar refused to give in, and battled back the only way she knew how - by rehearsing.
Minnelli adds, "I remembered my dad (Vincente Minnelli) told me, ‘You can do anything if you think about it.’ So I started very slowly to count, ‘A,B.C’ "I rehearsed and it did come back. You can retrain your brain."

JACKSON TO COLLABORATE ON THRILLER MUSICAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:54 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON will participate in "every aspect of the creative process" in the new Broadway-length musical inspired by his zombie-themed music video THRILLER.
Theatre impresario James Nederlander revealed in November (08) plans to bring the 14-minute short to Broadway as an ambitious new stage show, and his Nederlander Organization has now completed its purchase of the video’s stage rights.
According to the New York Post, Jackson will write new songs for the project, which will also include tunes from 1979 album Off the Wall.
Producers add: "This musical will be the exclusive Michael Jackson authorised version of Thriller, and Jackson will participate in every aspect of the creative process." And James Nederlander Jr. is certain Jackson’s reclusive behaviour won’t effect Thriller The Musical’s popularity: "It’s an American Werewolf in London meets Cyrano. Thriller is still Thriller. I understand what you’re saying (about Jackson), but I still think Thriller evokes great memories for people who still want to hear those songs." Jackson’s spokesman, Tohme Tohme adds: "The Nederlanders and Michael Jackson represent live theater and musical excellence, so let the music begin." Nederlander previously worked on Jackson tribute show Thriller - Live, which has already toured Germany, Holland, Scandinavia and the U.K., in which the star was not involved.
The project is expected to complete development by 2011 with a reported production budget of $12 million (£8.6 million).

WINFREY ‘NOT INTERESTED’ IN OBAMA’S SENATE SEAT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:51 pm

Talk show queen OPRAH WINFREY is "amused" she was considered as a possible replacement for BARACK OBAMA in the U.S. senate - insisting she’s "not interested" in the position.
Disgraced Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich - arrested in December (08) on federal corruption charges - revealed Winfrey was one of a number of candidates considered for the position on Monday (26Jan09), made vacant when Obama became president.
Allegations levelled against Blagojevich include claims he attempted to sell Obama’s senate seat to the highest bidder.
Speaking on U.S. breakfast TV show Good Morning America, Blagojevich told host Diane Sawyer, "There were a lot of different candidates I supported.
"That is true. The idea came to me from a friend. She seemed to be someone who would help Barack Obama become president.
"She was someone with a lot of voting pull," but Winfrey "probably wouldn’t take it".
And the Chicago, Illinois-based TV mogul insists she’s not seeking a career change, according to best friend Gayle King, who addressed the issue on her Sirius XM radio show Oprah and Friends.
Winfrey, who admits she missed the Blagojevich interview after enjoying a lie in, told King she was "pretty amused" by the revelation.
She added: "If I had been watching from the treadmill I probably would have fallen off the treadmill. I think I could be a senator, but I’m not interested." Blagojevich began his impeachment trial on Monday.

ARTISTS’ MUSE VIERNY DIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:51 pm

Moldovian-born model DINA VIERNY has died, aged 89.
Vierny, who served as the muse of French Catalan sculptor Aristide Maillol for over a decade, died on 20 January (09); no cause of death was given.
The pair, who were introduced by a friend of her father’s, met when a 15-year-old Vierny was a student in Paris in the mid-1930s, and began to model for Maillol, then 73.
Her figure was immortalised by Maillol in portraits including Dina With a Scarf and scultptures including The Seated Bather, The Mountain, Air, The River and Harmony - his last and unfinished piece. She is often credited with helping him to revive his flailing career.
In 1939 the favour was returned when Maillol helped send her to Nice where she posed for Matisse, after being acquitted in connection to smuggling refugees from occupied France into Spain during World War II.
She also posed for French artists Raoul Dufy and Pierre Bonnard, and sculptor Arno Breker, best-known for his works in Nazi Germany.
After the war and Maillol’s death, Vierny became an avid collector; in 1995 she opened the Fondation Dina Vierny-Musee Maillol, including work by Degas, Kandinsky, Picasso and Duchamp, among others.
She is survived by her two sons, Olivier Lorquin, the director of the Maillol Museum, and the art historian Bertrand Lorquin, its curator.
