OPRAH WINFREY has teamed up with TOM HANKS to turn her latest Book Club choice into a new movie.
The talk show queen introduced TV viewers to David Wroblewski’s The Story of Edgar Sawtelle last year (08) and now she has joined forces with Universal executives and Hanks’ Playtone company to produce the movie adaptation.
Winfrey says, "It’s something I’ve never done before out of all the pictures I’ve ever done, I’ve always chosen to stay out of the movie making process.
"We will honour the book."

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s ex-wife HEATHER MILLS is charging up to $102,000 (£75,000) a time as an after-dinner speaker - despite receiving a hefty pay out in her divorce from the ex-Beatle.
The former glamour model won $36.3 million (£25 million) in her divorce settlement from McCartney last year (08), but is still looking to earn some extra cash on the party circuit.
Mills is on the books of CMM Speakers Bureau, and charges a minimum of $6,800 (£5,000).
A spokesperson says, "She personally approves prices for her engagements and sometimes charges up to $16,400 (£12,000) for 15 minutes." The agency, which also has comedienne Ruby Wax on the books, lists Mills as an "inspirational former model and philanthropist".
Her biography says, "With countless television shows and literature publications featuring her worldwide, Heather is the best example of turning the most negative of situations into the most productive."

DREW BARRYMORE, LUCY LIU and CAMERON DIAZ are set to return to the big screen as CHARLIE’S ANGELS for a third film.
Six years after the sequel Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, the trio is ready to go again.
Barrymore says, "I’m so into it… They’re hard movies to make, but they’re fun." And sources tell Eonline.com that the three angels are looking to add a fourth lovely lady to the mix for their second sequel, which is set to start shooting later this year (09).

KYLIE MINOGUE’s relationship with Spanish male supermodel ANDRES VELENCOSO SEGURA is hotting up - the hunk is reported to be on the hunt for a London flat so he can be close to the singer.
Minogue, 40, and Segura, have been dating since October (08), and the model wants to be able to spend more time with the Aussie pop star.
A source tells British newspaper The Mail on Sunday, "Andres doesn’t want to let Kylie slip away. He’s been looking for a place of his own because he’s adamant that he doesn’t want to sponge off her. He’s looking online for a studio in London." Minogue is reported to be desperate to start a family since recovering from breast cancer in 2005, and Segura could be just the man.
The source adds, "He doesn’t yet know if Kylie is the one but he’s very paternal and wants to have kids."

NOEL GALLAGHER has laughed off reports his outspoken brother LIAM was confronted by TOM CRUISE after the OASIS frontman branded the star a "small b**tard" in a tell-all documentary.
The Valkyrie actor was reportedly furious with the singer’s outburst in Oasis documentary Lord Don’t Slow Me Down, in which Gallagher said: "I hate Tom Cruise. I can’t stand that small b**tard." According to British tabloid reports, the actor took his chance to confront Gallagher over the comments when he bumped into the rocker in a German hotel earlier this month (Jan09).
But Gallagher’s brother Noel has brushed off the claims as "nonsense" insisting he doesn’t know where the story came from.
He writes in his blog, "Did anyone see that story of Oasis allegedly meeting Tom Cruise in a hotel in Berlin?! Ludicrous.
"The mind boggles at where these stories come from. Pure nonsense."

Rapper JAY-Z is hooked on high art thanks to his pop star wife BEYONCE KNOWLES - and may even exhibit the costly craze.
The hip-hop mogul insists his collection is merely a high-brow hobby, but he is considering turning professional once he quits the music industry.
He says, "Bey (Beyonce) is really into art and now I am too. I’m building a collection but at the moment I am just buying things I like and seeing where it takes me.
"I have a lot of pieces from Damien Hirst and Richard Price - they are incredible artists. Damien Hirst’s Beat Life, Cheat Death piece was inspired by one of my songs, so that was cool.
"When I finally hang up the microphone I could even exhibit my own collection."

WILL & GRACE star ERIC McCORMACK had to abandon the premiere of his new alien movie, because he had to comfort his terrified six-year-old son.
McCormack was convinced Finnegan would enjoy Alien Trespass, which he describes as an homage to 50s sci-fi films - so he dressed him up and took him along to his first screening at the Palm Springs Film Festival.
But the treat backfired.
The actor explains, "We took him to his first premiere. He’s all dressed up.
Ten minutes in, the alien shoots at a coyote and it melts. And my son turned to me and said, ‘Ok, we’re going now.’ "So I spent most of the premiere in the parking lot, discussing how ‘Star Wars aliens aren’t scary’."

TV chef GORDON RAMSAY is to renew his wedding vows - just months after allegations he cheated on his wife.
The F Word star’s 12-year marriage to wife Tana was rocked in November (08) by tabloid reports that he had a long-standing affair with "serial mistress" Sarah Symonds.

British royal PRINCE HARRY has been ditched by his long-term love CHELSY DAVY ending their five-year romance.
The pair parted ways following a series of tearful phone calls, according to British tabloid the News of the World.
And a source tells the publication that despite making the decision, 23-year-old Zimbabwean Davy is ‘distraught’ at the split.
The insider adds, "She has simply had enough. They have been going through what she calls a ‘rough patch’ and she didn’t see the point in going on.
"Their lives have been moving in different directions. Chelsy is about to embark on a career in law and being a royal girlfriend can be quite limiting." A royal source told the tabloid the romance had simply ‘run its course’, and that the pair were still on friendly terms.
The split marks a torrid fortnight for the 24-year-old prince - he was also embroiled in a race row after a film showing him referring to an Army colleague as "P*ki" was released.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE picked up momentum in its race towards Oscar glory by winning the top prize at the Producers Guild of America Awards.
The hit film’s producer Christian Colson was awarded the Darryl F. Zanuck producer of the year gong at the prizegiving at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday (24Jan09).
Danny Boyle’s critically acclaimed movie, set in the slums of Mumbai, India, beat out competition from The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, The Dark Knight, Frost/Nixon, and Milk.
Meanwhile, in TV, Tina Fey was named as one of the winners of the television-comedy prize for her producing role on hit show 30 Rock.
Mad Men’s Matthew Weiner and Scott Hornbacher walked away with the prize for television-drama, while Simon Chinn-produced Man on Wire took home the documentary theatrical motion picture gong.

The Bahamas senator arrested over an alleged plot to extort money from movie star JOHN TRAVOLTA has resigned from her post, despite vowing to prove her innocence.
Pleasant Bridgewater was arrested on Thursday (22Jan09) following claims she took a photograph of Pulp Fiction star Travolta’s 16-year-old son Jett as he lay dying in an ambulance after a seizure at the family’s island home on 2 January (09).
Hospital employee Tarino Lightbourne was detained on Friday (23Jan09), with Bahamas former Minister of Tourism Obie Wilchcombe - a family friend of the Travoltas - taken into custody just hours later.
Now Bridgewater, released on $40,000 (£29,000) bail a day after her arrest, has quite her job as an attorney, insisting she plans to fight the "untrue and unfair charges" against her.
And she is adamant she was simply acting as a lawyer - claiming her involvement in the case has been "misconstrued".
She says, "How these innocent actions can be so misconstrued, so perversely twisted to mean something other than it was, is a mystery." Meanwhile, Wilchcombe has also protested his innocence, and states Bridgewater approached him to warn him that "someone was doing something untowards".
He insists he acted with integrity, telling Us Weekly, "I did a noble thing.
She (Bridgewater) knew I was close to the Travoltas. She wanted to bring something to my attention.
"This is ridiculous and absurd. The Travoltas are suffering, it’s just outright foolish. Never did I ask for anything, no one can say that. We had a friend in my country who lost a son. It was one single individual (who tried to take advantage of the family), the Bahamian people have been very kind to the Travoltas."

Filmmaker GUY RITCHIE is dabbling in the music world by investing in an Irish musical duo which regularly performs in his pub.
Snatch director Ritchie’s marriage to Madonna officially ended earlier this month (Jan09), and to keep himself busy he’s decided to invest in the pair, a favourite with customers at the Punch Bowl in London’s Mayfair.
Ritchie is such a fan of the unidentified duo, he sometimes even joins them to strum along on guitar.
A regular at the pub tells British tabloid The Mail on Sunday, "Guy is quite good on the guitar and loves to jam with them. He’s not exactly Jimi Hendrix but he and Madonna used to play together. It’s more of a hobby and now he’s found a band he loves and wants to put a bit of money behind them to see if he can get them a record deal."

Welsh singer CHARLOTTE CHURCH’s ex-boyfriend is at the centre of a police manhunt following a $27.3 million (£20 million) drugs haul.
Kyle Johnson, 24, is wanted for questioning following a drugs bust in which a huge batch of heroin was seized. The street value of the haul is thought to be one of the highest ever recorded in the U.K.
According to British tabloid the Daily Mirror, police discovered 150kg (330lb) of high-grade heroin in a three-bedroom house in East London last month (Dec08). Johnson is believed to have lived at the address.
British authorities arrested a 19-year-old man at the house, and have been hunting for Johnson ever since - releasing a picture and description of him to help track him down.
A spokesman for Scotland Yard says, "Officers are releasing a photograph of a man wanted for questioning in connection with the supply of a large seizure of Class A drugs, in a bid to trace his whereabouts.
"Kyle Jason Johnson, 24, may still be in London, although he has strong links to Wales and specifically his city of birth, Cardiff." Church split from Johnson in 2005 after 18 months together, with Johnson selling a lurid tell-all story to a British tabloid shortly after the break-up.
