KENNEDY RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL
U.S. Senator EDWARD KENNEDY has been released from hospital after suffering a seizure during an inauguration luncheon for new President BARACK OBAMA.
Paramedics were called to Washington D.C.’s Statuary Hall at on Tuesday (20Jan09) afternoon after the 75-year-old collapsed during the meal, which followed Obama’s inauguration as the 44th leader of the USA.
Kennedy’s office has confirmed the politician - whose brother was 35th President John F. Kennedy - was released from Washington Hospital Center on Wednesday (21Jan09).
A spokesperson for the Massachusetts Senator says he is in good spirits and has been urged by doctors to rest, blaming the seizure on his fatigue.
Kennedy underwent surgery after doctors diagnosed him with brain cancer in May (08), and has since returned to his Senate seat.
He last suffered a seizure in September (08) which culminated in a brief hospital stay in Massachusetts.
