ROBERTS KEEPS FAILING DRIVING TESTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

JULIA ROBERTS’ teen actress niece EMMA ROBERTS hasn’t been allowed behind the wheel since her first driver’s test - because she’s failed her follow-up exams so many times.
Roberts, who turns 18 next month (10Feb09), applied for her permit after turning 15, but is not legally allowed to drive because she still breaks too many rules of the road.
She says, "I don’t (have my license). I failed my driving test and then my permit expired. And then I failed my permit test when I retook it.
"I didn’t know you had to stop before going right on red, so I just swung around the corner… then I made some bad joke about not needing the defroster in California. I went back to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) after five minutes."

SMITH RULES OUT POLITICS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

WILL SMITH has ruled out swapping acting for politics - because life as a movie star is too much fun.
Smith has been tipped to play President-elect Barack Obama if a film is ever made about the politician’s life, with the future U.S. leader himself naming the star as his personal favourite for the role.
But Smith is adamant he has no plans to run for the White House in real life, because being President would be hard work.
He says, "If I am ordered by my commander in chief to star in a film about him, I will do my duty as an American. If we were in the White House I don’t know if that would exactly be a good thing. The Obamas are much more prepared to be in the White House than the Smiths.
"It’s a whole lot more fun to be a movie star. That’s a difficult job being President with a whole lot of lives on the line with every decision you make.
In my job I just bring joy. I don’t bring bad news. I think I’ll stay in my position for quite some time."

But by the time the blockbuster hit theatres, Bettany’s part in it had completely escaped his memory.
He says, "Somebody said to me about six months later, ‘Are you the voice in Iron Man?’ And I said no. They went, ‘Really?’ And I went, ‘Oh, no, I am! I am.’ So it was sort of done for fun."

McCARTHY LEAVES PLAYBOY

Actress JENNY McCARTHY has turned her back on her career with Playboy magazine so she can focus on "doing something good for women".

McCarthy tells the New York Daily News, “Right now, I’m so happy playing for the girls team. There was a time when I was happy to take off the bikini for guys, but I spent 14 years pleasing men, and now I’m focusing on doing something good for women.
"I only really read Playboy to know what kind of grooming patterns are popular nowadays.” And the blonde beauty, 36, hopes the magazine’s bosses will eventually turn to older centrefolds to fill their pages, adding, “I don’t really care about (younger celebrities). I mean, so many are prancing around in bikinis, it’s like, whatever. I’d like to see Sophia Loren pose.”

JERICHO TO BE MADE INTO MOVIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

U.S. TV drama JERICHO is set for a comeback - a big screen version of the short lived series is under development.
The show, a portrayal of America post-nuclear attacks, was scrapped by network CBS after its first full season due to poor ratings.
But a campaign by a devoted group of fans convinced network executives to bring the show back for a seven-episode second season, before flagging ratings once more resulted in the series being cancelled in 2008.
But now the programme’s stars, including Skeet Ulrich and Ashley Scott, are set to reprise their roles on the big screen, according to executive producer Jon Turteltaub.
He tells Moviehole.net, "We’re developing a feature for Jericho. It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it get into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full on American version of what’s going on beyond the town in Jericho."

MACY ‘SCARED’ BY SPEED-THE-PLOW PERFORMANCE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

JEREMY PIVEN’s Broadway successor WILLIAM H. MACY is relieved his debut performance on SPEED-THE-PLOW is over - because taking on the show so quickly was "the scariest thing" he has ever done.
Macy took over from Piven on Tuesday (13Jan09) after the Entourage star abruptly quit the David Mamet play on doctor’s orders after falling ill with mercury poisoning.
And Academy Award nominee Macy admits he was under intense pressure to learn the demanding role in just over two weeks.
Macy says, "It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done. It’s a hard play. It’s a very, very difficult play technically, and it’s a play that’s been going on for a while.
"Speed in that play is something - they go about 80 miles-per-hour… I had 15 days to learn the lines and they’re very, very difficult. They are up there with Hamlet."

KNOXVILLE CLEARS UP GRENADE ARREST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

JACKASS star JOHNNY KNOXVILLE is blaming an assistant on a new MTV show for his detention at Los Angeles airport for carrying a fake grenade in his bag - and swears he had no idea the item was in his luggage.
The funnyman was arrested on Thursday (15Jan09) morning at LAX airport after security guards discovered a suspicious-looking item in his belongings.
When the object was found to be a banned replica weapon, Knoxville was detained, cited for carrying a "prohibited item" through an airport and released by police.
The incident took him completely by surprise, because he didn’t even know he was carrying the prop - and he’s pointing the finger of blame at an assistant on a photo session for his new reality show Nitro Circus.
Knoxville writes on his internet blog, "When the shoot was over, the wardrobe girl packed my luggage so I could go home and, unbeknownst to me, she packed a FAKE hand grenade (a prop grenade that I’d taken to the shoot) in the front zipper of my luggage.
"Needless to say, when I was packing to go out of town this morning with my girlfriend and daughter, I didn’t see the FAKE grenade in my luggage." And Knoxville failed to see the funny side of it, insisting he was "bummed" after the incident.
He adds, "The cops did their job and verified that it wasn’t real. Also, they were cool as they could be to me, considering the situation, and it is no one’s fault but my own. I should have checked my goddamn luggage through and through, but I didn’t and now we have this incident.
"If it was real I never would have been allowed to board my flight to Miami an hour later. Anyway, it was a mistake."

LOVE CRITICISES FEMALE ROCKERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

COURTNEY LOVE has launched an angry tirade against other female rock stars accusing women in the music industry of failing to learn their craft properly.
The former Hole frontwoman is convinced that too many female rockers don’t have a thorough grasp of their instruments and need to spend more time practising before they can expect fame and fortune.
She tells Heeb magazine, "There are girls sitting there banging on pots and pans and talking about their vaginas and that’s all very lovely, and the writing is great, but the music blows.
"You have to f**king sit in your room and practice. You have to learn how to play bass, you have to learn how to play drums. You have to get Zeppelin one through four, and you have to sit in a f**king little room off Hollywood Boulevard for two hundred dollars a month and you have to play those goddamn drums.
"And for whatever reason, women just haven’t seemed to want to do that."

ALBARN’S REUNION FEARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:21 pm

The Britpop pioneers announced in December (08) they would return for a series of gigs in London in July (09) following a six-year hiatus.
But frontman Albarn is concerned the group will fail to perform classics such as Parklife and Country House as well as they did a decade ago.
During an appearance on a BBC radio show Albarn played a 10-minute clip of a set performed by the group in 1997 and declared, "This is one of the highlights of being in Blur. I’m going to have to work hard to get back to that standard."

LOVE SLAMS FILM AND RECORD INDUSTRIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:21 pm

COURTNEY LOVE has risked alienating Hollywood and the entire music industry by ranting about actors and record company bosses.
The former Hole frontwoman branded male film stars "self-destructive" and "b***hes", and lashed out at record chiefs for over album royalties.
And she suggests music industry bosses should have been more sensitive when her husband, Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain, committed suicide in 1994.
Love, who starred in 1996 film The People vs. Larry Flynt, tells Heeb magazine, "I didn’t really want to be a movie star, and people do not understand that, because everyone wants to be a movie star, but me. Let me tell you something, man. I can’t even stomach (although I do it sometimes) dating actors, because they’re b***hes. They’re women. They’re waiting around for someone to call them. You know, part of it’s self-destructive as hell, and I guess a lot of people are really shocked by that kind of conscious decision that I just don’t want to play this game.
"Let’s also get real about it, you have a very dark, twisted, horrible thing like a suicide happen in your life, and you’re still getting f**ked by the industry, but here’s the reality: Every time you buy a Nirvana record, part of that money is not going to Kurt’s child, or to me, it’s going to a handful of Jew loan officers, Jew private banks, it’s going to lawyers who are also bankers, it’s going to 60 PAs."

ALLEN BLAMES PARENTS FOR LOVE WOES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

Singer LILY ALLEN blames her parents for the state of her love life, insisting a lack of attention when she was a child has made her too needy.
The Smile hitmaker has a string of failed relationships behind her and recently split from millionaire art dealer Jay Jopling, after a month-long romance.
And she is convinced her desperation to please any potential suitors stems from her early life.
Allen says, "We were quite naughty kids. (My brother) Alfie was really bad, I just went into myself. I was a polite sort of cowering child. I didn’t talk much, I spoke to adults but not to anyone my own age.
"In the beginning I was so insecure and felt like I couldn’t make friends. I totally felt ‘everyone hates me and I need to prove myself’, and I thought ‘if I’m a famous singer, everyone’s gonna love me and my life’s gonna be OK’. I didn’t realise I would be opening myself up to more criticism." The star’s parents, Keith Allen and Alison Owen, split when she was four years old and, following the departure of her father from the family home, Owen was forced to work all the hours possible - something that had a profound impact on the young singer.
She adds, "My mum had to work to support us and we lacked the attention we needed as children, which I think is one of the fundamental problems in our society. I’m not saying women shouldn’t go and work for a living - that’s not the answer - but something has to adjust because children are being neglected on an emotional level and it’s having an effect on the world."
