SURI TRIED TO INVADE HOLMES’ BROADWAY STAGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

TOM CRUISE is convinced his daughter with KATIE HOLMES will become an actress when she’s older, after two-year-old SURI tried to storm the stage during a performance of Holmes’ Broadway play ALL MY SONS.
Cruise and Suri have been regular audience members during Holmes’ run in the play - the actor admits he has seen it "more than 30 times" since it debuted in September (08).
But he has had to stop letting Suri watch from the side of the stage, after she almost made an impromptu cameo.
Cruise says, "I was watching with Suri from the wings and I could see her feet creeping out onto the stage. I realised she was going onstage. Then she got on the floor and she was going to crawl onstage, and I’m quietly clinging onto her dress.
"So I picked her up and said, ‘You can’t go onstage,’ and she said, ‘Why?’"

KIDMAN RAN AWAY FROM AUSTRALIA CRITICISM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Hollywood actress NICOLE KIDMAN knew her performance in BAZ LUHRMANN epic AUSTRALIA would be savaged by critics, because she isn’t proud of the work herself.
The star appears opposite Hugh Jackman as British aristocrat Lady Sarah Ashley in the movie, but Kidman admits she feels no pride for her work because she "couldn’t connect emotionally" to her character.
And she was so appalled by her own acting when she saw the film in full at its November (08) premiere in Sydney, she and husband Keith Urban took the first plane out of the country so she didn’t have to face the criticism.
Speaking recently on Sydney radio station 2day FM, she said, "I can’t look at this movie and be proud of what I’ve done.
"I sat there (at the premiere) and I looked at Keith and went ‘Am I any good in this movie?’ But I thought Brandon Walters (an 11-year-old Aboriginal boy) and Hugh Jackman were wonderful. It’s just impossible for me to connect to it emotionally at all.
"We ran because I didn’t want to read anything. I didn’t want to know."

GERMAN FILMMAKERS AWAIT COURT DECISION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

German movie THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX has been caught up in a legal battle which could force filmmakers to re-shoot several scenes in the film.
The action drama, about 1970s terror group The Red Army Faction (RAF), has earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
But the story is being challenged by the widow of one of the RAF’s victims, who’s suing over what she claims are factual errors in the movie.

If the court finds in the widow’s favour, director Uli Edel will be sent back to the drawing board to alter the scenes.

BRANCATO JAILED FOR 10 YEARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

SOPRANOS actor LILLO BRANCATO JR. has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a burglary that ended with the murder of an off-duty New York cop.
The 32-year-old was cleared of murdering Officer Daniel Enchautegui, but convicted of attempted burglary on 22 December (08).
On Friday (09Jan08), Brancato Jr. was handed a 10 year sentence. The three years he has spent behind bars since his arrest will count towards the sentence.
Brancato Jr. and his friend Steven Armento were charged with murder following the shooting that took place on 10 December 2005, when Enchautegui discovered them attempting to break into his neighbour’s Bronx, New York house.
Armento fired the gun which killed the officer, and was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment at an earlier trial.
Brancato Jr. - who claimed he was attempting to enter the house of a friend who had given him drugs in the past - faced the same sentence, despite the fact he wasn’t carrying a weapon.
After his conviction on a lesser charge, Brancato Jr.’s lawyer asked the judge to free his client and send him to rehab instead of prison.
But Bronx judge Justice Martin Marcus opted for a sentence closer to the maximum of 15 years.
Brancato Jr.’s murder acquittal outraged public officials, including city mayor Michael Bloomberg, who raged, "It’s just beyond me how the jury could come to that conclusion."

RYAN O’NEAL PLEADS GUILTY TO DRUG POSSESSION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

Actor RYAN O’NEAL has been sentenced to undergo 18 months of rehabilitation treatment after pleading guilty to drug possession.
The 67-year-old and his son Redmond, 23, appeared in court on Friday (09Jan09) to enter pleas relating to their September (08) arrest at their Malibu, California home, when police discovered methamphetamines on Redmond’s person and in Ryan’s bedroom during a raid.
If the Oscar-nominated star completes the programme, he will have the charge wiped from his record.
However, he must not possess any controlled substances and cannot associate with any known drug users outside of his family during that time.
O’Neal Sr. had previously denied using drugs, with his lawyer Mark Werksman saying at the time of the arrest: "The drugs found in Ryan’s bedroom were Redmond’s. He had confiscated them from Redmond. He was trying to keep them away from his son." Now Werksman tells People.com, "Ryan was anxious to move on with his life with privacy and dignity and that’s what we’re trying to do here today." Redmond, who has a history of drug abuse, is facing the same charge, and is due back in court on 20 February (09) when his case will continue.

THE KILLERS BORN OUT OF RECESSION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

Las Vegas rockers THE KILLERS have credited financial problems with bringing the band together - calling the 2001 U.S. economic downturn a "blessing in disguise".
The 9/11 terrorist attacks, including the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York, had a crippling effect on the U.S. economy, which lasted for several months.
At that time, the Mr. Brightside hitmakers were a newly formed, unsigned act.
And guitarist Dave Keuning admits that if he hadn’t been out of work, he wouldn’t have been able to put so much effort into preparing the band for success.
He tells music magazine NME, "Our first phone call was just before 9/11, and we started practising right around 9/11. I got fired just before then, because the store I was working in wasn’t doing any business. But then after the event it became hard to get a job because business went down the drain. I managed to scrape by living off ramen noodles.
"It wasn’t easy at all, but it was a blessing in disguise, because it allowed me and Brandon (Flowers, frontman) to spend lots of time together - writing songs, working on ideas, coming up with a name and a feel for the band. Having that time turned out to be a huge blessing." (LR/FRD/MT) WENN - FIFTH - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS - 09 JANUARY 2009

JAMAL WOOLARD was so determined to land the role of late rap legend NOTORIOUS B.I.G. in biopic NOTORIOUS - he began turning himself into the heavyweight hip-hop star five months before he even auditioned.

He felt it his destiny to play B.I.G. - real name Christopher Wallace - on the big screen, and set about taking on his hero’s look, voice and mannerisms, long before he could even try out for the part.
Woolard says, "I went to Biggie boot camp. I had to gain the weight and I went up to 340 pounds because I felt the competition was so big. I then studied his mannerisms.
"This was all five months before casting."

FROST/NIXON FILM RIVALRIES SPLIT CAST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

MICHAEL SHEEN and FRANK LANGELLA found themselves on opposing "teams" during filming of FROST/NIXON, according to actress REBECCA HALL.
The Ron Howard-directed movie is based on a series of interviews former U.S.
President Richard Nixon, depicted by Langella, gave to British TV host Sir David Frost, played by Sheen, in 1977 in which Nixon admitted he may have broken the law in the Watergate scandal.
And the roles they play weren’t just kept to the big screen, according to Hall, who plays a friend of Frost in the picture.
She tells Britain’s Tatler magazine, "There was something about the nature of the way that the film was structured that there was Team Nixon and Team Frost.
"I don’t quite know how the dynamic happened that way but Team Frost turned into the slightly shabby, silly, giggly team that couldn’t really keep a straight face in any circumstances. And we were all corpsing (laughing on-set) hysterically."
