CRAIG: ‘AUSTIN POWERS RUINED BOND’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

DANIEL CRAIG is convinced BOND bosses were forced to take the 007 franchise in a different direction because MIKE MYERS’ AUSTIN POWERS films ruined the spy genre.
The last two Bond movies, 2006’s Casino Royale and last year’s (08) Quantum of Solace, both starring Craig, have taken on a darker, less light-hearted tone than their predecessors.
And the British actor is adamant future 007 films will not return to the catchphrases and gags that were a staple of previous Bond incarnations.
Craig blames Myers’ Austin Powers trilogy, which poked fun at all things Bond, for the change.
He says, "Don’t get me wrong, I’m up for (gags), as long as the gag works.
But the problem is that Austin Powers screwed everything up. He exploded the genre."

POLANSKI CALLS FOR A NEW JUDGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

ROMAN POLANSKI’s attorneys are calling for a change in judges as the moviemaker fights to clear his name in a 30-year-old sex case.
The lawyers of the exiled auteur have accused Los Angeles County Superior Court officials of bias against their client, and they have asked that another judge handle the director’s request to have an unlawful intercourse case against him thrown out.
Last month (Dec08), Polanski formally requested the court throw out the charge "in the interests of justice".
His attorneys claim Judge Peter Espinoza, who is scheduled to oversee a dismissal hearing on 21 January (09), has a predisposition against Polanski.
The director is accused of having unlawful intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in 1977. He pleaded guilty to the charge before fleeing America.
As it stands, Polanski still faces arrest upon his arrival in America.

BONO IS BORED OF BONO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

U2 frontman BONO created a series of alter egos to help him write songs for the band’s new album, because he is bored with himself.
All the lyrics for New Line on the Horizon were written through a number of fictional characters, after the superstar ran out of interesting and insightful things to say from his own perspective.
The campaigning rocker’s new alter egos include a war correspondent in the track Cedars Of Lebanon, and a French police officer in the song Tripoli.
Bono explains to British music magazine Q, "I’m bored of Bono and I am him I’m sick of me. I felt it was a little limiting to be in the first person".

JACKSON ‘TO LEAVE BEATLES SONGS TO McCARTNEY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON will bid to end his long feud with music legend SIR PAUL McCARTNEY by leaving him the BEATLES back catalogue in his will, according to reports.
The former pals fell out in 1985 when Jackson beat McCartney and John Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, in the race to snap up the rights to 200 of the Fab Four’s hits.
They collaborated on 1982 single The Girl is Mine, but have barely spoken since, with McCartney feeling he was betrayed by his friend.
The 66-year-old explained his frustration in a past interview, saying, "You know what doesn’t feel very good, is going on tour and paying to sing all my songs. Every time I sing Hey Jude. I’ve got to pay someone".
Since the purchase, Jackson merged the catalogue with music giants Sony, and created SonyATV, of which he holds a 50 per cent share.
And sources claim Jackson wants to leave his stake to McCartney or his children when he dies.
An insider tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "Michael told his lawyers he was sad he no longer talks to Sir Paul and said he wanted to make things right." Over Christmas (08), the 50-year-old Thriller hitmaker was forced to deny rumours he is suffering from a deadly lung condition.
Jackson biographer Ian Halperin claims the star is battling emphysema, genetic illness Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (A1AD) and is also losing the vision in his left eye.
But Jackson’s publicist has hit back insisting, "Concerning this author’s allegations, we would hope in the future that legitimate media will not continue to be exploited by such an obvious attempt to promote this unauthorised ‘biography.’ "The writer’s wild allegations concerning Mr Jackson’s health are a total fabrication. Mr. Jackson is in fine health, and finalising negotiations with a major entertainment company and television network for both a world tour and a series of specials and appearances."

RIHANNA AGREES TO COVER UP FOR MALAYSIA SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Raunchy R&B star RIHANNA has promised to tone down her live act for a concert in Malaysia next month (Feb09), because she doesn’t want to offend any of the Muslim country’s citizens.
The Malaysian government have strict rules when it comes to female performers, and artists are required to cover up from their shoulders to their knees.
And the Umbrella hitmaker, who is known for donning flesh-baring PVC corsets and knee high boots for her gigs, has agreed to abide by the conservative laws when she takes her Good Girl Gone Bad roadshow to Kuala Lumpur on 13 February (09).
Razman Razali, managing director of Pineapple Concerts, the promoters behind the show, says Rihanna’s management is "aware of the country’s regulations and the difficulties of doing a show".
Artists like Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani have previously faced protests in the country for their immodest wardrobe choices, and the former No Doubt singer lashed out at the government by claiming she made "a major sacrifice" when she gave in to the dress rules for her show in the country last year (08).
