JOHANSSON’S WEBSITE VICTORY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:33 pm

Hollywood actress SCARLETT JOHANSSON has won a legal battle to shut down an unofficial website bearing her name.
The Match Point star lodged a complaint against ScarlettJohansson.com after the site ran a joke competition offering readers the chance to "win a smoking-hot threesome" with the 24-year-old.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "The ‘threesome’ reference was meant in a light-hearted way and actually referred to her film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona. But Scarlett clearly didn’t appreciated the joke." A representative for the site’s owner, Gibraltar-based Tristan Dare, claimed the contest was published in an "obvious, overt tongue-in-cheek manner" and "attempted to parody the typical Hollywood advertisement".

MANSON WANTS VON TEESE AND REZNOR FOR COURT BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:33 pm

MARILYN MANSON has reportedly asked his ex-wife DITA VON TEESE and fellow rocker TRENT REZNOR to testify at his upcoming court battle with a former bandmember.
Manson is set for a legal showdown with keyboardist Stephen Bier - also known by his stage name of Madonna Wayne Gacy - after the musician filed a breach of contract lawsuit against the goth rocker in 2007.
Bier accuses Manson - real name Brian Warner - of using money from their former band partnership to buy personal goods, including gifts for Von Teese.
Manson countersued Bier alleging he breached a contract by not fully participating in the making of master recordings, performing in concert, and helping to sell band merchandise.
Manson maintains that the band’s partnership was dissolved in 1996, but Bier - who left the group in 2007 - insists it still exists and claims he is entitled to a share in the revenues.
The case is set to go to trial on 2 February (09) and Manson’s legal team is said to have asked Von Teese and Nine Inch Nails frontman Reznor to take the stand on the rocker’s behalf, according to E! Online.
Reznor is expected to discuss his work on Manson’s debut album, Portrait of an American Family, while Von Teese will answer questions about the pair’s former relationship.

SMITH CROWNED TOP MONEY-MAKING STAR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:30 pm

Actor WILL SMITH has succeeded JOHNNY DEPP as the top money-making movie star of 2008.
The Independence Day actor came first in the annual Quigley poll, dethroning Depp who took the 2007 crown.
Smith is only the second African-American star to top the list, with Sydney Poitier placed first in 1968.
Newcomers in the survey include Robert Downey Jr, Christian Bale and Shia LaBeouf, who came in second, third and fourth respectively.
Anne Hathaway was named a star of tomorrow along with Chris Pine, who plays Captain Kirk in the upcoming Star Trek remake.
Tom Cruise, who has topped the list seven times since 1983, did not appear in the top ten, and last year’s winner, Depp, also failed to make the 2008 list.
The Quigley Poll has been conducted every year since 1932 and asks cinema owners and film buyers to vote for the 10 stars they believe generated the most box office revenue for their theatres during the year.

LOHAN & RONSON MOVING TO DUBAI?

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:30 pm

Actress LINDSAY LOHAN and her lesbian DJ partner SAMANTHA RONSON have been house hunting in the glitzy United Arab Emirates paradise of Dubai in a bid to beat the cameras.
The pair reportedly fell in love with glamorous Palm Island resort after Ronson performed at the nearby luxurious Atlantis Hotel last year (08), according to British tabloid the Daily Mirror.
And the Mean Girls star is eager to capitalise on a lack of paparazzi in the Middle-Eastern state by snapping up a lavish $2.18 million (£1.5 million) pad.
A source tells the publication, "Lindsay and Sam loved the tacky glitziness of Dubai. There is so much money and opulence out there it really impressed Lindsay - she can be quite materialistic like that. Despite her fair skin, Lindsay loves the beach and sunshine.
"And with the property market over there probably the only place where there still seems to be a boom, she thinks it will be a wise investment.
"There isn’t as much paparazzi either - although that’s sure to change once Lindsay and Sam become regulars on the scene." However, the pair will need to keep their romance quiet if they do move to Dubai as homosexuality is still illegal in the country.

She says, "Men come and go but there really is no relationship like the one you have with a dog - and then they don’t live as long as they should.
"You have to say goodbye way too soon. It’s just so sad. It makes me so sad.
But their love is unconditional and I love that."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:27 pm

PARIS HILTON has been caught up in a police drug bust - after her name was used by a drunk driver arrested by Australian police.
Mehmet Gulasi, 39, was pulled over by cops in the early hours of New Year’s Day (01Jan09). Gulasi told the authorities he was speeding in a friend’s Range Rover because he was on his way to pick up socialites Hilton and Brandon Davis.
Officers conducted a roadside breath test and discovered Gulasi was well over the legal limit, according to the Sydney Daily Telegraph. They then found what they believed to be cocaine on his person, together with assorted pills in Gulasi’s wallet.
He was later charged with possessing a prohibited drug, two counts of possessing or attempting to possess a prescribed restricted substance and driving with an expired licence.

THOMPSON’S STRUGGLE WITH DEPRESSION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:27 pm

British actress EMMA THOMPSON has long struggled with depression and insists the only way to beat her condition is to use creative therapy techniques.
The Oscar-winner first experienced the illness during a stint on the London stage in her twenties and admits it was one of the darkest times of her life.
She says, "I’m prone to depression and to all sorts of mental illnesses. I did a musical in the West End - I became clinically depressed even though I was being paid to be cheerful. I had no life at all. I lived like a nun. I didn’t drink. I didn’t have sex. I was 24, for crying out loud. No wonder I was depressed." Thompson reveals that the condition often comes back to haunt her, with her most recent episode of serious depression occurring as she struggled to get pregnant with her daughter, Gaia, who was born in 1999.
But she has now found a new way to manage her moods.
She adds, "I discovered something about writing recently. With writing, you can pick up a pen and say, ‘I have to write’. And you should certainly write your early experiences because they are fascinating. Writing has freed me a lot."
