HATHAWAY’S HAPPY WEDDING MEMORIES

ANNE HATHAWAY fears she’ll never be able to top her brother’s wedding when she eventually exchanges vows - because his same-sex nuptials was a blinding success Hathaway’s brother Mike and his boyfriend Josh wed in New York two years ago (06), and she still can’t get the happy occasion out of her mind.
She tells the new issue of Modern Bride magazine, "When Mike and Josh booked the place, it was before daylight saving time, and the sun was pretty high up in the sky. "We sent my cousin’s boyfriend down to Canal Street with $250 to buy as many sunglasses as he could, and we put them on every other seat. Everybody just put on their sunglasses, and we have some great pictures of that!" And there was another magical moment: "At one point… my mom got up to sing.
She was just beaming straight love into them, and everyone felt it, and it was just this really beautiful moment." Hathaway, who stars in new movie Bride Wars, is now on the lookout for a Mr.

THOMPSON LANDS O’REILLY’S RADIO SLOT

Former LAW & ORDER star FRED THOMPSON is to take over top U.S. political pundit BILL O’REILLY’s radio show in 2009 after losing out as the 2008 Republican Party nominee for President of the United States.
The U.S. senator, who represented Tennessee from 1994 to 2002 before reviving his political career in the White House race earlier this year (08), is also planning to return to acting in the new year.
He’ll take over O’Reilly’s The Radio Factor show slot on the Westwood One radio network in March (09).

DARK KNIGHT CLAIMS TOP MOVIE WEBSITE’S BEST FILM OF 2008

BATMAN sequel THE DARK KNIGHT has topped the 2008 Best Film list on influential movie news website Moviehole.net’s end-of-year review.
The film, starring Heath Ledger and Christian Bale, has beaten The Brothers Bloom and Transsiberian to the top spot on the annual list, with Frost/Nixon and Stop-Loss rounding out the top five.
Meanwhile, in a related list, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of The Crystal Skull was named Moviehole.net’s Worst Film of 2008, ahead of The Day The Earth Stood Still and Mummy sequel The Tomb of The Dragon Emperor.

CHOW QUITS AS GREEN HORNET DIRECTOR

Revered Hong Kong funnyman/filmmaker STEPHEN CHOW has quit as the director of comic book movie adaptation THE GREEN HORNET.
Chow’s role as the Hornet’s sidekick Kato is now in doubt.
The Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle star reveals he wants to concentrate his efforts on making a new comedy about a superhero, starring Jack Black.
Chow says, "If I direct The Green Hornet, the superhero comedy will have to be delayed for two years.“ Seth Rogen has written the screenplay for The Green Hornet and will star in the film.

DUCHOVNY’S SEX ADDICTION TOPS 2008 SCANDAL LIST

DAVID DUCHOVNY’s sex addiction scandal has been named the year’s most surprising by readers of American weekly magazine Parade.
More than 30 per cent of voters selected the star’s confession and subsequent rehab stint ahead of the outcome of the O.J. Simpson heist trial and Batman Christian Bale’s domestic abuse arrest in London as 2008’s Most Shocking Scandal.
The magazine’s readers also named Angelina Jolie as the new celebrity mum with the best post-baby body, Halle Berry and George Clooney as the Most Attractive 40+ Stars and Tom Hanks as the Smartest Hollywood Star in the end-of-year honours and dishonours poll.

GETTY STILL A BROTHER

BALTHAZAR GETTY’s publicists are acting fast to dispel reports the actor is set to quit hit show BROTHERS & SISTERS over his romance with SIENNA MILLER.
Set insiders told website CrazyDaysandNights.com that the actor was on his way out of the show after losing friends over the way he cheated on his wife Rosetta.
The sources revealed that discussions may have begun between Getty and producers on how best to remove his popular character Tommy from the show.
Getty has played the character since the series launched in September 2006.
But his aide tells Eonline.com that Getty has no plans to leave the show.
Getty stunned Hollywood when he left his wife and mother of his four children in July (08) to embark on an on-off romance with Miller.

BACON VICTIM IN $50 BILLION WALL STREET SCANDAL

Actor KEVIN BACON has been named among the celebrities who fell victim to the $50 billion (£35 billion) fraud scandal rocking America’s Wall Street.
Former NASDAQ chairman Bernard Madoff was arrested on 8 December (08) on charges of securities fraud after allegedly ciphering billions of dollars from his clients in a scam which collapsed after people began asking for their money back, due to the global financial crisis.
And Bacon and his wife, actress Kyra Sedgwick, have joined Steven Spielberg, his DreamWorks Animation SKG partner Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Uma Thurman’s fiance, hedge-fund tycoon Arpad Busson, on the list of high-profile investors, who reportedly lost hundreds of millions of dollars in the so-called Ponzi scheme.
Bacon’s spokesperson, Allen Eichorn, tells New York Magazine, "I can confirm that they had investments with Mr. Madoff; no further specifics or comment beyond that (is available)." Eichorn would not elaborate on the extent of the couple’s losses, adding, "Let’s not speculate or rely on hearsay."

ROCKER LOSES HIS HOME

The frontman of Swedish heavy rock band FATAL SMILE has lost his home in a blaze.
Vocalist Blade learned his house was on fire on Monday (29Dec08), while holidaying with his family in Thailand.
According to rock news website Blabbermouth.net, firefighters fought the flames for more than 12 hours, but the house was destroyed.

ISLAM URGES LEADERS TO TAKE NOTICE OF WHAT CHILDREN WANT

Muslim convert YUSUF ISLAM has urged world leaders to pay more attention to children when making decisions in 2009 in a Christmas and New Year message posted on BONO’s (RED) WIRE online magazine.
The singer/songwriter, formerly known as Cat Stevens, took time out of shooting a new video in the California desert to film his short video message, which he dedicates "to the youth of the world".
He says, "This world needs children to kind of remind us of which way we want this world to go." Yusuf Islam then performs a sunset rendition his own tune Oh Very Young.

JONAS BROTHERS SPARK SECURITY CONCERNS FOR NEW YORK CITY POLICE

GARCIA ESTATE SUED OVER LIVE RECORDING WITH LATE MUSICIAN

The estate of late GRATEFUL DEAD frontman JERRY GARCIA is facing a lawsuit from the family of a deceased keyboardist - over the rights to a 2004 album which featured a live performance by the pair.
The estate of Merl Saunders is suing the Garcia family, with officials claiming they did not find out about the album until after its release, and has equal rights to the music.
Saunders’ estate is seeking more than $100,000 (£68,030) in the case.
Garcia died of a heart attack in 1995.
The federal lawsuit was filed on Monday (29Dec08), according to TMZ.com.

DMX PLEADS GUILTY TO ANIMAL CRUELTY, DRUG POSSESSION AND THEFT

Incarcerated rapper DMX has pleaded guilty to four charges of animal cruelty, drug possession and theft in three separate cases.
The star, real name Earl Simmons, entered his pleas at a court hearing on Tuesday (30Dec08). They included one count of animal cruelty and one count of possession of narcotic drugs.
In two separate cases, the rapper also pleaded guilty to theft and possession of marijuana, reports TMZ.com.
Simmons was captured earlier this month (09Dec08) when an Arizona judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest after he missed a court appearance to face charges of drug possession.
He was tracked down at the Miami, Florida home of fugitive hip-hop producer Scott Storch and held in Miami-Dade County jail until his extradition to Arizona’s Maricopa County Jail on 19 December (08).
As part of a plea agreement, all additional charges against him were dropped.
The rapper’s sentencing is scheduled for 30 January (09).

HUDSON’S BROTHER-IN-LAW INDICTED

JENNIFER HUDSON’s estranged brother-in-law has been indicted on three counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion.
William Balfour, the man charged with the murders of Hudson’s mother, brother and seven-year-old nephew, was in court on Tuesday (30Dec08). The 27 year old is to be arraigned on 20 January (09).
Prosecutors believe Balfour flew into a rage with his estranged wife Julia, Hudson’s sister, because he thought she was dating other men - and took out his anger on her family.
The bodies of Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother Jason Hudson, 29, were found shot to death last October (08) in Donerson’s South Side Chicago, Illinois home. The remains of the Oscar winner’s nephew, Julian, were found in the trunk of a vehicle three days later.

The Stronger hitmaker has had a busy 12 months, performing almost 100 concerts, and plans to take it easy as the clock strikes twelve on December 31 (08).

JAMES: ‘WINEHOUSE AND DOHERTY WON’T SEE 2010′

BLUR star ALEX JAMES is convinced troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE will be dead within two years - and would be "surprised" if she lives any longer.
The bassist is worried for the Back to Black hitmaker and British musician Pete Doherty, who have both had much publicised battles with drugs.
And James insists he doesn’t expect the pair to live to see 2010 - unless they get urgent help.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "I’d be surprised if Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse both live to see the decade out. You know, it’s not funny.

JOHANSSON ‘HAPPY’ MARRIAGE CEREMONY STAYED PRIVATE

Hollywood actress SCARLETT JOHANSSON is happy she managed to keep her wedding to RYAN REYNOLDS private - because she wanted to do something for herself.
The 24-year-old wed Reynolds in his native Canada in September (08) and has remained tight-lipped about the nuptials ever since.
The pair had been dating for a year prior to the ceremony - and Johansson tells the Los Angeles Times she spent the whole of last summer (08) planning the wedding, which was held in a remote wilderness resort outside Vancouver.
She says, "It was my mission to have a moment of privacy, to do something for myself. I was happy with the results of that."

Actor ZAC EFRON has been voted the coolest male celebrity of 2008 by users of a teenage social networking site.
Coming in behind the High School Musical star were musicians Joe Jonas and Justin Timberlake in second and third places respectively.
Rounding out the top five were England footballer Theo Walcott and Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner.
Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole was named as favourite female celebrity in the poll on website Bebo, closely followed by Harry Potter actress Emma Watson.

MTV DROPS 50 CENT SHOW

50 CENT’s reality TV show 50 CENT: THE MONEY AND THE POWER has been scrapped by MTV after a string of poor ratings.
The show followed the rapper’s attempts to discover the next hip-hop mogul among 14 wannabes, with the winner receiving a $100,000 (£68,000) investment from 50 Cent to start their own business venture.
But since its debut on 06 November (08) the programme has failed to attract viewers and the network has now decided to scrap the flailing show after little more than a month on air, according to the New York Post.
