Actor HARRY SHEARER once stole an Emmy Award - because he refused to be the only member of THE SIMPSONS cast who hadn’t taken home a prize.
The star, who provides the voices for Montgomery Burns and Ned Flanders in the cartoon series, is the sole member of the principal cast of six to never have been nominated for the prestigious TV award for his work on the long-running show.
But he is adamant he isn’t a loser - because he took swiped the gong for Best Animation after receiving it on behalf of the show.
He says, "I stole it. It’s somewhere in the attic now - the joy was in the stealing, not the having.
"Every year the show wins the award for best animation and the producers invite a cast member to the ceremony. You go up on stage and they hand you the statue. If you’re going to get it engraved, you hand it back to them - but I walked out with mine!"

Vampire movie TWILIGHT has shot to the top of the U.K. box office charts, biting off an impressive $3.7 million (£2.5 million) in its opening weekend.
The teen film, about a girl who falls in love with a vampire, pushed last week’s number one, sci-fi movie The Day The Earth Stood Still, to fourth place.
Animated movie Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa came in second with takings of $2.7 million (£1.8 million), ahead of festive comedy Four Christmases, which made $1.6 million (£1.1 million).
Rounding out the top five was children’s adventure movie The Tale of Despereaux, starring Matthew Broderick.

JAMIE FOXX has banned his teenage daughter from dating - after the press confused the 14-year-old girl for his latest flame.
The actor/singer admits he’s become overprotective of his leggy young daughter, Corrine, because men often ogle her on the street, thinking she’s twice her age.
He says, "She’s not going to date until she’s married. She’s so beautiful, she’s five (feet), seven (inches), size nine-and-a-half shoe.
"I was coming out of a restaurant with her, I guess the paparazzi didn’t know who she was, and the paper said, ‘Foxx with young hottie’.
"It just kills you because she’s so grown, but she’s only 14!"

SPIDER-MAN star JAMES FRANCO earned extra pocket money in his youth - by stealing bottles of cologne from department stores.
When the actor was in the eighth grade in high school, he and a gang of friends would distract shop assistants and swipe the tester bottles from cosmetics counters.
And Franco - who is the face of Gucci fragrances - admits that it was a major scheme to earn extra pocket money.
He tells U.S. chatshow host Jay Leno, "I don’t know how it happened by somehow I got into stealing cologne. It’s kind of ironic now. We would go into department stores and they had the testers out there, we were looking for a bit of excitement.
"We had our cologne stealing ring. We would chat up the cologne attendant and then the other would swipe the bottle. We accumulated a huge stash, we would keep it in our lockers. We were in either grade so we’d sell it to the seventh graders, we would sell it for 15 dollars - I think it cost about 25 in the shops." Franco also confesses to passing the fragrances on to other pupils before high school dances and urinating in the bottles given to boys they didn’t like.
He adds, "One horrible thing, if I go to hell for anything it will be for this. They have the little tester tubes, if we were going to a dance and there was someone we didn’t like, we would pee in the bottle."

Comedienne TINA FEY is ending 2008 with a bang after being named The Associated Press’ Entertainer of the Year.
The 30 Rock star was chosen by newspaper editors and broadcast producers across the U.S. to receive the annual honour.
Fey, 28, came ahead of Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. and late actor Heath Ledger, who were listed second and third respectively.
The award ends a blockbuster 2008 for Fey, who won three Emmys for her critically acclaimed sitcom 30 Rock which she created, stars in and writes.
She also made her big screen debut in the comedy Baby Mama, which grossed $60 million (£40.5 million) at the domestic box office, and she shocked American audiences with her impersonation of Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin on comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live.
Fey has also received nods for the 2009 Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe Award ceremonies.
In a statement, the newswire says: "Fey was selected by AP members as the performer who had the greatest impact on culture and entertainment in 2008." Last year’s AP Entertainer of the Year gong was awarded to comedian Stephen Colbert.

Actress MARISA TOMEI is reportedly dating former THE O.C. star LOGAN MARSHALL-GREEN, who is 12 years her junior.
New York Post gossip column PageSix reports that the 44-year-old star has been romantically linked to the 32-year-old after they were allegedly seen kissing at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie, The Wrestler, on 16 December (08).
Tomei previously worked with the actor, who also appeared in hit TV show 24, on a New York theatre project over the summer (08).

A smashed guitar which once belonged to late NIRVANA frontman KURT COBAIN has sold at auction for $100,000 (£68, 493).
The sale was confirmed on Tuesday (23Dec08) by the senior curator of the Experience Music Project in Seattle, Washington, where the taped-up Fender Mustang had been on display.
The guitar was owned by punk rocker Sluggo of The Grannies and Hullabaloo.
The star claimed to have traded Cobain a working guitar for the broken instrument in the legendary band’s early days, after the late singer smashed it on stage and couldn’t afford to replace it.
Cobain committed suicide in 1994.

METALLICA drummer LARS ULRICH was pelted with custard pies during a concert in California - to celebrate his 40th birthday.
The musician will reach the landmark age on 26 December (08) and the rest of the band decided to mark the occasion during their final gig of the year at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California on Saturday (20Dec08).
During a break in the show, the band’s crew ran on to the stage and chased Ulrich with armfuls of gunge, finally trapping him and covering him in custard and party string.
Frontman James Hetfield then helped the stadium audience sing Happy Birthday to his bandmate.

Rocker PETE WENTZ has tasted his wife ASHLEE SIMPSON’s breast milk, describing it as "soury and weird".
The couple welcomed their first child, Bronx Mowgli, last month (Nov08), and the Fall Out Boy star admits although he won’t be sampling Simpson’s milk again, the tot can’t get enough.
He tells Sirius Satellite Radio, "The baby loves it, it’s the only thing he’s had a chance to have." Wentz also confesses his wife wasn’t the only one to gain weight during her pregnancy - he too managed to pile on the pounds while she was expecting.
He adds, "I gained 10 pounds, at least. I usually hang out around 135, 134, I go up to about 140, and when I hit 148, I get fat face.
"I’m working out a little bit. I think it comes off easier for her because she gets to breast feed and I don’t have the luxury of doing that."

PARIS HILTON’s uncle has reportedly been robbed - just days after his socialite niece became the victim of a break-in.
The heiress was devastated after an intruder forced his way through the front door of her property in Sherman Oaks on Friday (19Dec08) while she was at a nightclub.

Actor-turned-politician ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER is facing a lawsuit from two unions fighting to stop an order requiring all California state employees to take two days off a month without pay.
The governor made the executive order last week (beg15Dec08) - which could effect up to 230,000 workers - in an effort to solve the state’s budget crisis.
But the Professional Engineers in California Government and the California Association of Professional Scientists are battling the demand in Sacramento’s Superior Court, claiming only the U.S
. Legislature can change workers’ pay.
At a Los Angeles press conference on Monday (22Dec08), Schwarzenegger said: "I hate to lay off any state employees, may I remind you, because those are hardworking people and they all have to provide for their families
. But we are running out of cash by February, so I have no other choice
. California is on a track to a disaster the way it’s going."

Johansson claimed she caught a cold from her The Spirit co-star Samuel L.

SHARON STONE has asked California police to investigate a "suspicious" man who recently attempted to make a delivery to her home, according to reports.
The actress called the Beverly Hills Police Department on Sunday (21Dec08) after an unknown man came to her residence to make what appeared to be a delivery or service call, according to TMZ.com.
Stone was reportedly referred to the Los Angeles Police Department to file the report.

BRITNEY SPEARS has reportedly dismissed the two choreographers who helped launch her recent comeback appearances in favour of the man who directed MADONNA’s recent world tour.
The Circus Starring Britney Spears will now be directed by Jamie King, who directed and choreographed her Oops!… I Did It Again series of live dates in 2000 and the Material Girl’s Sticky & Sweet Tour.
King replaces Wade Robson, who directed the star in her first major U.S. tour in 1999, and Andre Fuentes, who choreographed for Spears beginning with her 1998 L’Oreal Hair Zone Mall Tour.
A source tells U.S. tabloid Life & Style: "Wade and Andre were only hired to choreograph the promotional tour for Circus, which ended in Japan last week." King’s representatives at The McDonald Selznick Associates Agency have posted the following on their Web site: "Britney’s back and going on tour to promote her new album Circus! Congratulations to Jamie King who will be the tour’s director. Simon Ellis will be the Musical Director for the tour."

JUNO star ELLEN PAGE will take on yet another controversial movie role - the actress has been tapped to play a lesbian in a new film based on a true story.
Page, who played a pregnant teen in the 2007 film, will star in the forthcoming drama about Laurel Hester, a terminally ill New Jersey police officer who fought for pension benefits for her partner while battling lung cancer.

MAD MEN actress ANNE DUDEK has welcomed her first child with artist husband MATTHEW HELLER.
Dudek, who also starred in hit U.S. medical drama House, gave birth to son Akiva on 14 December (08), with the tot weighing in at seven pounds, seven ounces (3.37 kilograms).

A lawsuit filed against HANCOCK director PETER BERG alleging he played a part in the death of a golf cart driver has been dropped.
Berg was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle - which his assistant was driving - when the car struck the cart driven by 25-year-old Nick Papac in Arizona in August 2006.
The director was riding on a highway closed for filming his movie The Kingdom, where Papac worked as an assistant propmaster.
Papac’s parents filed suit against the moviemaker and his sidekick, Francis Keao, for burial expenses, lost earnings and medical expenses in Los Angeles on 06 August (08).
Records show Papac’s parents moved for dismissal last week (beg15Dec08), according to the Associated Press, but do not indicate whether there was a settlement.
A lawyer for Berg and other defendants said he could not comment.
