RIHANNA is set to perform on President-elect BARACK OBAMA’s inauguration night in aid of a hunger-relief charity.
The Umbrella hitmaker will play for the Recording Industry Association of America’s Presidential Inauguration Charity Ball, to benefit Feeding America.
Vicki Escarra, president and CEO of Feeding America tells People.com, "We could not be happier that Rihanna will be performing at the Inauguration charity ball to benefit Feeding America.
"Rihanna’s involvement will help raise awareness about the prevalence of hunger in America and help bring more aid to the 36 million Americans who do not always know where they will find their next meal." The Barbados beauty isn’t the only one performing for a charitable cause on inauguration night - Sting will rock at the Creative Coalition ball and Kanye West is said to be in talks to perform for the Impact Film Fund.

JESSICA ALBA and husband CASH WARREN have finally hosted their wedding reception - seven months after they married.
The couple tied the knot in a low-key ceremony at the Beverly Hills Courthouse in Los Angeles on 19 May (08), just weeks before Alba gave birth to the couple’s first child, daughter Honor Marie, in June (08).
And now the Fantastic Four actress has finally found the time to celebrate her nuptials.
The pair’s families came together on Friday night (19Dec08) to toast the happy couple at their Beverly Hills home, according to Usmagazine.com.
Both Alba and Warren spoke about their relationship before their fathers each made a speech, expressing delight over the union of the two families.
A source says, "There were no tears, just lots of happiness and love. It felt extremely special for everyone. Jessica is so excited. This is such a happy time in their lives." And the couple’s six-month-old tot was guest of honour at the ceremony Honor was dressed in a grey dress, to match her mother, with angel wings attached to complete her angelic look.

JIM CARREY’s new comedy YES MAN has climbed its way to the top of the U.S. box office, taking in $18.2 million (£12.1 million) in its opening weekend.
The film, co-starring actress Zooey Deschanel, follows Carrey’s character as he challenges himself to say "yes" to everything for an entire year.
Will Smith and Rosario Dawson weighed in with $16 million (£10.7 million) to take the second spot for their new drama Seven Pounds, which also made its debut at the weekend.
Debuting at number three is Matthew Broderick’s animated mouse movie The Tale of Desperaux, taking in $10.5 million (£7 million).
Slipping from the top spot to number four is Keanu Reeves’ sci-fi flick The Day the Earth Stood Still, which took in $10.2 million (£6.8 million), which rounded out the top five just before Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn’s holiday comedy Four Christmases, taking in $7.7 million (£5.1 million).

Legendary Russian ballerina OLGA LEPESHINSKAYA has died, aged 92.
The dancer - a four-time Stalin Prize winner - was given a tribute by the country’s President Dmitry Medvedev in a ceremony following her family’s announcement of her death to Itar-Tass news agency.
A statement from her family on Saturday (20Dec08) reads: "She has fallen asleep never to awaken again." Lepeshinskaya made her mark performing with the Bolshoi Ballet for 30 years during the Soviet era, which earned her the highest artistic accolade given under the Soviet rule of Joseph Stalin.
She was revered for her prima ballerina roles in ballets including The Barber of Seville, La Fille Mal Gardee, Don Quixote and Sleeping Beauty.
Lepeshinskaya went on to teach classical ballet in Moscow, Rome, Tokyo, Vienna and Munich after retiring from the stage.
A funeral will be held in Moscow on Tuesday (23Dec08) following a farewell tribute by the Bolshoi Ballet.

Real-estate tycoon-turned-reality-TV star DONALD TRUMP has filed a $100 million (£66.7 million) lawsuit against a small city outside of Los Angeles over his plans to revamp his world-class golf course in the suburb.
Trump accused the city of Rancho Palos Verdes of fraud and civil rights violations in a suit filed last week (beg15Dec08), alleging his intentions to improve the facility and maintain the "Trump image" have been blocked.
Improvements planned in the restructuring include a clubhouse terrace and a row of ficus trees.
He tells local newspaper Mercury News, "I’ve been looking forward for a long time to do this. The town does everything possible to stymie everything I do." The city’s mayor, Larry Clark, has dismissed the charge, adding: "We have bent over backwards many, many times to work with Donald Trump. I’m sure this lawsuit is really going to anger a lot of the residents."

American author JULIUS FAST has died, aged 89.
Fast, who published his biography The Beatles: The Real Story in 1968, died on Tuesday (16Dec08) in Kingston, New York; he had lived in Manhattan until suffering a stroke in 2007.
The acclaimed mystery novelist’s other noted tomes include Walk in Shadow and A Model for Murder.
Fast’s diverse interests led him to later cover health and human relationships in books including Body Language, Body Politics and The Body Book.
But it was his first book, Watchful at Night, which won him the inaugural Edgar Allan Poe Award in 1946, given by the Mystery Writers of America for a best first novel.
Fast is survived by his daughters, Jennifer and Melissa, a son, Timothy, and five grandchildren.

Canadian R&B singer KEISHA CHANTE has been chosen to play AALIYAH in a movie about the tragic star’s life.
Aaliyah sold over 32 million records during her career and was nominated for five Grammy Awards before she was killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas in 2001 at the age of 22.
The currently untitled biopic will chart the late star’s rise to fame and her untimely death.
The film is slated for release in 2009, according to Sixshot.com.

A rare recording of late BEATLE JOHN LENNON singing a slurred version of a song by rocker LLOYD PRICE will hit the auction block in Los Angeles on Sunday (21Dec08).
The debauched track of Price’s 1973 hit Just Because dates to the period when Lennon separated from Yoko Ono during a period he later referred to as his "Lost Weekend".
The tape, which has never before been heard by the public, begins with Lennon slurring: "I wanna take all them new singers, Carol and the other one with the nipples, I wanna take ‘em and hold ‘em tight, all them people that James Taylor had… I wanna suck your nipples, baby!Q The backing band slows down and speeds up to keep pace with the rocker, who later murmurs, "Just a little cocaine will set me right," before the session is called to a close.
Lennon later re-recorded the song and released it on his 1975 album, Rock ‘n’ Roll.
The six-minute outtake, recorded in Los Angeles, is expected to fetch up to $40,000 (£26,670).

Rapper T.I. is to be flanked by federal security guards this New Year’s Eve ahead of his impending prison sentence in March (09).
The Whatever You Like hitmaker, real name Clifford Harris Jr., has been sentenced to a year in jail, which will begin next year (09), after pleading guilty to illegal possession of three machine guns and two silencers following his 2007 arrest.
And the hip-hop star is not allowed outside of his native Georgia without a police escort, meaning he will have to spend his planned New Year’s Eve party (31Dec08) celebrations in Miami, Florida, trailed by federal security guards.
The rapper is due to perform at Miami Gansevoort South Hotel in the city, at an event hosted by actress Chloë Sevigny, according to New York Post gossip column PageSix.
