CELEBRITY MUMS TALK FAMILY IN NEW BOOK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

KATIE HOLMES, ANGELINA JOLIE, KATE HUDSON and TINA FEY are among a list of Hollywood’s hottest mums revealing the secrets of their family life in a new tell-all book.
The trio, who boast eight tots between them, talk about maintaining a sense of normality in the spotlight, enjoying holidays around the world, and living life as a single mum in forthcoming tome The Black Book of Hollywood Pregnancy Secrets.
Authors Kym Douglas and Cindy Pearlman reveal Hudson finds dating difficult as the single mother to her five-year-old son, Ryder.
She says, "I do find it tough to date," but swiftly adds, "I’d rather be at home with my son cooking dinner than going out with a guy. My son is my man." Jolie adds of raising her international brood of six kids with partner Brad Pitt, "We were in India (for Halloween) and Brad and the kids and I had an off celebration in the hotel we were staying at. We had candy sent up, which we said was from the saints." Meanwhile, American actress/comedienne Tina Fey takes a down-to-earth approach to parenting: "I don’t care how many (magazine) covers you’re on. When you’re chasing a three-year-old around with a pull-up (diaper) hoping she won’t poop on the floor, you’re just like every other mom on the planet." The book is scheduled to hit shelves next March (09).

SWIFT WRITES TRIBUTE TO MUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Country music star TAYLOR SWIFT has given up writing about her bitter break-ups - to pen a song for her mother.
The 19-year-old was recently ditched by Jonas’ Brothers singer, Joe, for an actress cast in his band’s music video.
And though she’s insisted writing about her relationships is the best way to move on, Swift took a break from her heartache to pen a song for her mother with new track The Best Day.
She tells country music website TheBoot.com, "The coolest thing about my mom is she’s always been so real with me, and she’s been honest with me no matter what. Even when I was pre-teen, that’s when I needed her the most. That’s usually when people are (in the) too-cool-for-their-parents stage.
"Well, I was really not cool enough for anyone but my parents in that phase.
I had no friends. My mom was the one person that I could turn to and who never, ever hurt me."

PARKER: ‘HUDSON IS SURVIVING’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

SARAH JESSICA PARKER has been supporting her SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE co-star JENNIFER HUDSON while she grieves for her murdered family - insisting the singer/actress is "surviving." The Dreamgirls star cancelled all of her public engagements after her mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were found shot dead at their home in Chicago, Illinois in October (08). Hudson’s nephew Julian King, seven, was found dead three days later.
Parker, who acted alongside the star in this year’s (08) hit movie, is adamant that she is there for Hudson if she ever needs a friend.
She tells U.S. talkshow host Larry King, "I have been in touch with her, just wanting her to know that any little or big thing I can do - I think those of us who love her want to be there for her, to the degree that it’s appropriate. I don’t know her very well, so it’s a delicate situation. You don’t want to intrude on a person. But I just keep reminding her that I’m here, whatever that might mean to her. And it’s an unthinkable situation, really. Unthinkable." And Parker is sure that Hudson will be able to recover from the crisis, as she is such a strong-willed woman.
She adds, "The little bit that I would share is just that I think she’s surviving. I don’t know how a person navigates anything like this. And I think nobody is prepared for something like this. But she is incredibly strong. She is a woman of faith. And I think she is figuring out. I can’t imagine what it must be like for her." Hudson’s estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, has been charged with all three murders.

MARK FELT, the man who blew the whistle on the WATERGATE scandal and helped bring down U.S. President RICHARD NIXON, has died aged 95.
Felt, codenamed Deep Throat by Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, fed the duo information about corruption within Nixon’s government which led to the president’s resignation in 1974.
The identity of the journalists’ high-level source - which inspired the multi Oscar-winning film All The President’s Men - remained a closely-guarded secret for 33 years until Felt unmasked himself during an interview with Vanity Fair magazine in 2005.
Felt, who was associate director for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) when he began working with the reporters in 1972, died in his sleep on Thursday (19Dec08) at a California hospice. He had been in poor health for a number of years.

Romantic TOM CRUISE missed wife KATIE HOLMES’ 30th birthday on Thursday (17Dec08) - but arranged for her to receive an onstage celebration and an enormous cake after her performance on Broadway.
The couple was forced to spend Holmes’ milestone birthday apart - she was appearing in Arthur Miller play All My Sons in New York while he was promoting new movie Valkyrie in Los Angeles.
But the Top Gun star was determined to make it a special day, and persuaded Holmes’ co-stars to arrange a surprise celebration at the close of the evening’s performance.
As the curtain fell, Holmes was presented with a five-tiered cake before her fellow cast members and hundreds of theatre-goers in the audience sang Happy Birthday to her.
Holmes’ co-star John Lithgow told the crowd, "Tom Cruise, our good friend, devoted fan to the show, doting husband of Katie, could not be here tonight.

SUSHI BLAMED FOR PIVEN’S BROADWAY PULLOUT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

JEREMY PIVEN was ordered to pull out of Broadway play SPEED-THE-PLOW because he had six times the normal level of deadly mercury in his body - from allegedly eating too much sushi.
A doctor who examined the actor and advised him to quit the show admits he was "stunned" to discover Piven’s mercury levels was "shockingly high".
He ordered the star to pull out of the play immediately - and scrap the rest of his run, which was due to continue until 22 February (09).
Dr Carlon Colker, who has been treating the star, tells People.com, "I pulled Jeremy from the show. I’m an unpopular character right now… He’s disappointed that I had to pull the plug. But I think he’s hurt more by the comments that he’s not trying or that he walked away. He’s been working straight for 30 years. He doesn’t walk away; I tore him away from it." The doctor insists Piven initially came to him after the show began its run in October (08), complaining of severe fatigue.
After a series of tests, Dr Colker was surprised to find mercury at a level "almost six times the upper limit of normal and allowable." He adds: "It’s the highest level I’ve ever seen." Colker blames the high mercury count on Piven’s habit of eating sushi and taking Chinese herbs for his health - and the actor has been ordered to quit both to aid his recovery.

LITTLE BRITAIN DUO WINS LIBEL BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

British comedians MATT LUCAS and DAVID WALLIAMS have accepted libel damages from a U.K. newspaper over a report alleging their TV show LITTLE BRITAIN USA had offended gay groups.
The comic duo was accused of upsetting "pink protest groups" in a story which appeared in tabloid publication the Daily Star Sunday in September (08).
But during a hearing at the High Court in London on Friday (19Dec08), judge Mr Justice Eady heard that the two organisations named in the article do not appear to exist.
Bosses at Express Newspapers, owners of the Daily Star Sunday, have agreed to pay the funnymen undisclosed damages, as well as legal costs, over the false allegations and agreed to print an apology.
The court was told the report had caused considerable distress to the funnymen, who have close ties to the gay community.
The pair’s advocate, Rod Christie-Miller, says, "The article clearly suggested that Little Britain USA went beyond the scope of acceptable public viewing and that as a result gay and lesbian groups were calling for some sketches in the series to be banned and for the viewing public to boycott the series.
"The allegations have been particularly hurtful because Mr. Walliams and Mr.
Lucas consider that they misrepresent their relationship with an important fan base - the gay community." Little Britain USA, made for cable channel HBO, was filmed in the U.S. and broadcast earlier this year (08).

ILLNESS THREATENS GALLOWS ALBUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

The lead singer of British rockers GALLOWS has been diagnosed with an incurable stomach condition - which has thrown the recording of their new album into jeopardy.
The band’s frontman Frank Carter is suffering from severe acid reflux, a stress-related condition which sees stomach acid seep into the throat.
The illness has already begun affecting Carter’s voice, making the creation of the follow-up to their 2006 LP Orchestra of Wolves a long and slow process as the group has to ensure Carter stays stress-free to avoid triggering his illness.
He tells British magazine NME, "I developed a bit of a condition towards the end of this year. Whenever I get really stressed I feel like I’m gonna throw up acid. Ironically the only thing it really affects is my voice.
"Once you get it, you’ve got it for life and you just have to look after yourself. But that doesn’t really work when you’re in a band like Gallows. I’m normally the saving f**king grace (of recording an album), but this time it’s been dragged out. If I’m stressing, the first thing to go is my voice, which is not good."
