WILL SMITH and his wife JADA have donated $1.3 million (£866,000) to charitable causes in the last year - including $122,500 (£81,666) to best pal TOM CRUISE’s Scientology religion.
Tax returns for the Men In Black actor’s charitable Will Smith Foundation show he and his wife gave vast amounts of money to a number of religious, civic and arts groups in 2007, according to Foxnews.com.
The biggest single contribution was to Yesha Ministries of Philadelphia. The born-again Christian based organisation received $250,000 (£166,666). Smith donated a further $200,000 (£133,333) to a Christian ministry outside Los Angeles called Living Waters.
And to Cruise’s Church Of Scientology religion, the actor donated $67,500 (£45,000) to the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Fund, $50,000 (£33,333) to the group’s Celebrity Centre in Hollywood and $5,000 (£3,333) to ABLE, another Scientology offshoot.

ROBBIE WILLIAMS is planning his next album - he’s heading back into the recording studio at the beginning of next year (09).
The Rock DJ singer’s last LP release, Rudebox, received mixed reviews when it was released in 2006, but Williams is looking forward to producing his next offering.
He’s so eager to start work on his new music, he’d happily start recording now - but restrictions on the studio’s schedule don’t allow him to start work any earlier.
He says, "I’m going into the studio at the end of January to get it ready. If I could get it out quicker I would. These things take time though and I’m not very good at waiting." And Williams, who has been living a reclusive life in Los Angeles, insists his enforced absence was deliberate - to make fans miss him.
He adds, "I had to go away, how could anybody miss you when you’re always there?"

DOCTOR WHO star DAVID TENNANT has taken his first steps on the road to recovery after enduring surgery for a slipped disc.
The Scottish actor endured a procedure to correct the injury on Thursday (11Dec08) and was pictured taking his first steps in public in East London on Wednesday (17Dec08).
Tennant was forced to withdraw from his starring role in Hamlet until the next year (09) to allow himself to recover from the painful procedure.
The actor was said to be devastated after pulling out of the performances and has branded his enforced absence "hugely disappointing".
Tennant’s run in the play is due to finish on 10 January (09).

JAWS star RICHARD DREYFUSS claims his father and uncle owe him almost $4 million (£2.6 million) from an unpaid loan.
The actor filed suit in Los Angeles earlier this year (Aug08), claiming his family members owe him a whopping $870,000 (£580,000).
In documents Dreyfuss claims his father Norman and his uncle, Gilbert, asked him to help them save a family business in 1984 and he agreed. His uncle has since reportedly told his nephew that he would not get his hands on the money.
And now Dreyfuss has amended the lawsuit, claiming that their is further financial wrongdoing in relation to the case.
The amended lawsuit states Gilbert and Norman Dreyfuss may have diverted millions of dollars from a $6 million (£4 million) judgment they won against the state of California over a lease arrangement on their business’ building.
The suit also declares the Dreyfuss brothers failed to properly repay a $13 million (£8.6 million) loan on the building, resulting in a lender starting foreclosure proceedings on the property.
Actor Dreyfuss is seeking to look at accounting records for the building, and repayment of the loan plus interest.
His uncle acknowledged he made mistakes in handling the judgment money, but said payments on the loan are current and he had used his own money to fight the case against the state and make improvements to the building.

Irish actress CELINE CAWLEY has been found murdered following a robbery at her home. She was 46.
The star, who appeared in 1985 James Bond movie A View To Kill, was found bludgeoned to death at her home in Dublin on Monday (15Dec08), reports Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper.
Cawley reportedly disturbed an intruder at her home who then turned on her.
She was discovered by her husband, Eamonn Lillis, who allegedly saw a masked intruder fleeing the scene as he returned home from walking the dogs.
Tests are being conducted on a brick that detectives believe was used to beat the actress to death.
Cawley is survived by her husband and her only child.

The death of MARK RUFFALO’s brother SCOTT has been ruled as a homicide.
Scott Ruffalo, 39, was found outside his home in Beverly Hills with a gunshot wound to the head at the beginning of December (08). He died in hospital a week later (08Dec08) after he was taken off life support.
Shaha Mishaal Adham handed herself in to police the day the hairdresser died, after cops named her as a person of interest, and was subsequently released from custody.
Adham insists she was at Ruffalo’s home to collect her car keys, and fled when he shot himself.
Her lawyer Ronald Richards claims it was his client’s case that Ruffalo had accidentally shot himself in the head.
But Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office spokesman Craig Harvey said on Wednesday (17Dec08) that their investigation had determined that somebody had shot Ruffalo.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the crime a day after Ruffalo was hospitalised, but he was released less than three days later without being charged.
And lawyer Richards tells TMZ, "I have not been informed by police that my client is again at all a suspect." No other suspects have been named publicly and no further information about the case was available as WENN went to press.

A pool of GEORGE HARRISON’s sick remained on the floor of THE BEATLES hostel room for two weeks - because their cleaner refused to clean it up.
The Fab Four left the mess untouched after Harrison vomited one night in Hamburg, Germany as nobody could stomach cleaning up, according to the band’s original drummer.
Pete Best said Harrison "spewed his guts up" after a drinking session during the band’s formative days in the early 1960s.
The group even made it an "honorary Beatle", calling it The Thing and held a funeral for it when it was finally mopped away.
Best tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, "Now you could probably flog it for thousands on eBay."

Former AMERICAN IDOL contestant LUKE MENARD has been given the all-clear from cancer.
The 30-year-old - a finalist in the seventh season of the singing contest was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system earlier this year (08), but has now been told he is free from the disease.
He tells Access Hollywood, "I’m cancer free according to my last test scan that I had. It’s been exciting to get that news." The singer still has more than a dozen radiation treatments to go to target the scar tissue left following months of chemotherapy, but he is thrilled to end 2008 with happy news.
He adds, "We were always praying for this news - to be cancer free. When you’re going through chemo, it’s kind of a one-day at a time thing. You don’t know how you’re gonna feel when you wake up in the morning and sometimes you’re kind of sick and you’re throwing up.
"It’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s definitely been a year to remember and a year to forget - being on American Idol, and days after I was eliminated being told I had cancer. It’s been a crazy year." And his time on the reality TV show helped with his battle with cancer more than he could have dreamed - most of his medical bills were taken care of by people concerned for him.
He continues, "All the producers from ‘American Idol,’ 19 Entertainment… David Cook, who won American Idol,… he has been extremely helpful, even financially with medical bills. 19 Entertainment has helped out with medical bills, so it’s been way more than I expected."

Rapper T.I. is worried about the affect his impending prison spell will have on his young sons - but is sure that his elder daughter will help them through the ordeal.
The Whatever You Like hitmaker, real name Clifford Harris Jr., is facing a one year prison sentence in March (09) after pleading guilty to illegal possession of three machine guns and two silencers following his 2007 arrest.
And the rapper is already wondering how his children - three daughters and two sons - will cope when he is serving his time in jail.
He says, "My oldest is 12 - she understands. She’s strong and smart. The three weeks I was in, before I got to come home, she said to me, ‘Don’t worry.
I’ll hold things down ’til you get back.’ "I’m more worried about how my boys are going to deal."

AMERICAN IDOL judge SIMON COWELL refuses to let the suicide of PAULA ABDUL’s stalker affect the level of criticism he delivers on the show.
Paula Goodspeed, who had stalked Abdul for almost 17 years and had auditioned for the reality show on three separate occasions, took a suspected drug overdose in her car outside the gates of Abdul’s Sherman Oaks, California estate last month (Nov08).
Despite her "awful" death hitting the judges "like an express train", Cowell is adamant he would not have judged her differently when she auditioned because it is necessary for viewers to hear his honest opinion.
He says, "I have thought long and hard about this…I think we will continue in the way we have always done. We have tried to have a sense of humour. The show is not an inherently mean show.
"It is an American dream show where the whole purpose is to find somebody who through the process becomes a star. It is helpful showing people the process that, if you’re not very good, don’t spend years trying to do something you’re not very good at doing." Cowell, who is renowned for his harsh criticisms of contestants, doesn’t believe that going easy on Goodspeed would have helped her.
He adds, "My regret is that we didn’t know how troubled this person was. If I could have gone back in time and known what she was going through, we could have then tried to help her, but we genuinely didn’t know."

JIM CARREY shocked viewers of ELLEN DeGENERES’ talk show on Wednesday (17Dec08), by pretending to propose to his girlfriend JENNY McCARTHY.
In a staged stunt DeGeneres put the pair on the spot, daring Carrey to pop the question, during his appearance on the show to promote his new movie Yes Man.
After calling McCarthy onto the stage, DeGeneres said, "He says yes to everything, and you’ve all been together for three years. We thought you should propose to her on the show." Shocked audience members and millions of viewers then watched Carrey fall to one knee, and coo, "I love you so much and I know we never planned on doing this, because we never felt we needed a third party to tell us our relationship was sacred. But Jenny, would you….." before he stopped and was interrupted by a jingle and DeGeneres, who kicked off another segment of the show.

Cruise admits the three-time World Heavyweight Champion was his hero as a kid, and he was an emotional wreck when he finally had the chance to meet him at Time Magazine 75th Anniversary Gala in 1998.

EDDIE MURPHY and SHIA LaBEOUF have been lined up to star in the next BATMAN movie, according to reports.
The Beverly Hills Cop actor will star as The Riddler and LaBeouf will play the caped crusader’s sidekick Robin in the next instalment, tentatively titled Gotham.
Actress Rachel Weisz is reportedly in the frame to play Catwoman. Christian Bale will return as Bruce Wayne and Michael Caine will again play his assistant Alfred, according to British newspaper The Sun.
The movie, which is slated for a 2010 release, will be directed by Christopher Nolan, who made The Dark Knight such a huge success when it was released this year (08).
A source says, “Chris wasn’t sure if he wanted to do another movie but as soon as he decided to, he got the wheels in motion. Eddie’s a fantastic addition. Everyone’s excited to see what he does as the Riddler.”
