MCCREADY STABLE AFTER ‘SUICIDE ATTEMPT’
Troubled country singer MINDY McCREADY remains in a stable condition at a Nashville-area hospital after police said she cut her wrists and took several pills in an alleged suicide attempt, hospital officials have confirmed.
A local police report said McCready’s brother, Timothy, discovered the singer "very intoxicated" in her bloody bed several hours after she returned from a night out on Wednesday morning (17Dec08) and made a bizarre call to her mother.
McCready was subsequently hospitalised at Centennial Medical Center, the facility’s spokeswoman Jenny Barker has confirmed.
The singer has endured a series of personal struggles in recent years.
In April (08), she admitted to a long-term affair with New York Yankees baseball star Roger Clemens.
McCready was then arrested in June (08) for violating her probation for prescription drug fraud.
She also checked into rehab in July (08), with some reports suggesting she had swallowed a lethal combination of vodka and prescription drug Ambien, used to treat insomnia.
The singer’s attorney, Lee Ofman, said he did not have details about the latest incident as WENN went to press. Britain’s Musicians Union recently launched a campaign to stop armies around the world from using music as a means of torture.
And Reznor is horrified to think of his art being used in such a way.
He writes online, "It’s difficult for me to imagine anything more profoundly insulting, demeaning and enraging than discovering music you’ve put your heart and soul into creating has been used for purposes of torture. If there are any legal options that can be realistically taken they will be aggressively pursued, with any potential monetary gains donated to human rights charities.
