Pop star/actress HILARY DUFF has hit back at reports she told journalists she was still a virgin at the age of 19 - insisting she was misquoted.
In a 2006 interview with Elle magazine, the former Disney star touted her squeaky-clean image, insisting she hadn’t yet had sex.
But she now denies every making the claim, telling Maxim magazine: "You know what? I was quoted saying I was a virgin, but I absolutely did not say that.
"That’s nobody’s business but my own. Somehow it turned into a bad thing!" Duff has shrugged off the misquote, because she’s heard so many lies about herself after years in the limelight.
She adds, "I’ve been accused by the press of giving lapdances at clubs. I mean, little ol’ me? It’s shocking.
"People love to believe it - it’s way more exciting to talk about than the truth! And they’re so descriptive about these lapdances. I don’t even know how to do a lapdance!"

American TV/radio personality RYAN SEACREST is facing a lawsuit from a TV tycoon, accusing him of stealing the idea for his new reality show from a four-year-old Turkish series.
Papers filed on Monday (15Dec08) in Manhattan federal court charge Seacrest and NBC network with ripping off the idea for his new series Momma’s Boys from Perfect Bride, which debuted in Turkey in 2004.
The series, which follows bachelors and their mums as they struggle to find a suitable bride for their boys, was "willfully appropriated" according to the suit, filed by Luftu Murat Uckardesler.
Uckardesler is seeking to bar Seacrest’s show from TV for copyright and trademark infringement.
Uckardesler’s attorney says, "It’s like me having a talent show and saying: ‘We’re going to pick the next American Idol." A spokesperson for NBC said it hasn’t yet seen the suit, but "is familiar with the plaintiffs’ allegations, which are entirely without merit." Momma’s Boys is scheduled to premiere in the U.S

Superproducer MARK RONSON has been left out of work on AMY WINEHOUSE’s new album - but he is still hopeful the singer will hire him to produce her tracks.
The pair collaborated on Winehouse’s second album, Back to Black, and went on to score a clutch of Grammy Awards, including a Best Producer prize for Ronson.
The duo subsequently went back to work, recording a theme tune to new Bond movie Quantum of Solace - but the song was eventually scrapped amid rumours they had fallen out.
Winehouse - who is currently recovering from an adverse reaction to prescription medication - is now said to be working on songs for a new LP.
But Ronson admits that he has had no further dealings with the troubled star’s new recordings.
He says, "I’m not sure where it (the album) is. I haven’t spoken to Amy in a few weeks, and I haven’t heard anything (saying) that she’s making a record or not.
"I think hopefully when she has ten songs or she’s ready to make a record she’ll call me and we’ll go and start how we did last time."

Funnyman JIM CARREY has a burning ambition to hit the stage - he wants to star in a play on Broadway.
The Hollywood actor started out as a stand-up comic before his movie career took off. And Carrey admits that he has would love to go back to the stage to test his acting skills.
He tells U.S. talkshow host Larry King, "I would love to do it. I hope I could do it. I wonder if I would get tired of saying the same words over and over again. I ran into Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane when they were doing The Producers and they looked like they wanted to string themselves up backstage. They were like, ‘The jokes, the 750,00th time I’ve said the jokes’.
I could have done that.
"I want to do everything in this lifetime."

Former SPICE GIRLS star EMMA BUNTON is adamant she doesn’t need to marry her boyfriend JADE JONES to "justify" their relationship.
The couple has been dating since 1999 and have a 12-month old son, Beau, together.
But despite living with constant media speculation about an imminent wedding, Bunton insists that she doesn’t plan to walk down the aisle with her longterm partner any time soon.
She tells British magazine Closer, "We’ve been rumoured to be engaged about 20 times, but we don’t need a wedding to justify our relationship. But if we ever do get married, I couldn’t run off and do it in secret - my family would be so upset." And Bunton reveals that she might even wait and have another child before eventually tying the knot with Jones.
She adds, "Maybe we’ll have another child before getting married. I’d love to have more children - but I’m sure two’s harder."

Hollywood actress SCARLETT JOHANSSON has decided she wants to write her own songs for the follow-up to her album of TOM WAITS covers.
The Lost In Translation star released Anywhere I Lay My Head in May this year (08) which featured her versions of some of Waits’ classic hits.
But the 24-year-old is determined to have more of a creative influence on her next LP and has announced she will be producing her original compositions.
She tells NME.com, "I don’t think I’d do covers, so it’d be a project that I have to dedicate myself to. I feel like that’s something for the future." And when asked whose songs she would choose if she had to record another covers album, she adds, "If I had to, Leonard Cohen, maybe."

Pop superstar MADONNA suffered an embarrassing slip-up during a concert in Brazil - falling over in front of thousands of fans.
The Holiday hitmaker was performing at the Maracana Stadium in Rio De Janeiro on Monday (15Dec08) night, when she slid and fell onto her back.
But the singer managed to continue singing and attempted to cover up the blunder by turning her fall into a dance move, kicking her legs up into the air and jumping back to her feet.
Madonna will conclude her Sticky & Sweet world tour in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 21 December (08).

Moviemaker CHRIS WEITZ has promised to stay true to the original story while shooting the sequel to hit vampire film TWILIGHT - because he doesn’t want to enrage loyal fans.
The director was taken on to helm New Moon, the follow up to the bloodsucking blockbuster, in place of Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke.
And Stephenie Meyer, who wrote the Twilight series of books, insists there is no need for fans to turn on Weitz with "torches and pitchforks" because he will not be changing the plot.
Writing on her official website, she tells fans: "I’ve had the chance to talk to Chris, and I can tell you that he is excited by the story and eager to keep the movie as close to the book as possible.
"He is also very aware of you, the fans, and wants to keep you all extremely happy. (Torches and pitchforks are not going to be necessary)." She adds: "I’m excited to work with Chris and I think he brings a lot to the table… I’m really looking forward to seeing his vision for New Moon." And Weitz confirms his intentions: "I will devote myself to making the very best and most faithful version of New Moon that can be brought to the screen."

Movie musical MAMMA MIA! has become the highest grossing film of all time in the U.K., smashing the record set by TITANIC.
The Abba-themed movie, starring Meryl Streep, has taken more than $105 million (£69 million) at the box office after a 23-week run in British cinemas.
The news comes just days after the film picked up two Golden Globe nominations, including Streep’s nod for Best Actress.
David Kosse, president of Universal Pictures International, admits it is "phenomenal" to break the record set by 1997 blockbuster Titanic.
He says, "This film has exceeded our expectations and delighted audiences around the world since it opened in July."

NOEL GALLAGHER is so bored with touring he spends his spare time surfing the internet for bargain buys.
The Oasis rocker is currently on the road with the band in the U.S. and admits the jaunt is dragging him down.
He spends hours watching sport on TV - and has even taken to buying instruments from sellers on auction website eBay.
Writing on the band’s blog, Gallagher says of the tour: "Utterly soul-destroyingly dull. So dull in fact that I actually bought something off that ebay last night. A vintage Gibson organ. Very f**kin’ cool. Gotta go and pick it up today at some fella’s house. Thinking on…that should be quite exciting! Going to a real American person’s actual house? Well, there’s f**k-all else to do.
"I’m currently watching some of that American Football. The New York Jets-V-The Buffalo Bills, in fact. I like it. I’m one of the few Mancunians who actually understand it. It’s a very simple game made extremely complicated by mathematics. For example, it’s currently 14-3 to the Jets. It’s 14.26 in the 2nd. The Jets have the ball on the 22 and it’s 3rd down and 8. Erm…sorry?"

The A DOUBLE SHOT AT LOVE reality TV contestant who was killed in a recent car crash was allegedly taking part in a deadly street race, according to an official accident report.
Kandice Hutchinson, who appears in the MTV dating show, died instantly when her car crashed in Euless, Texas in the early hours of 21 October (08). She had been kicked off the series just days before.
And now an investigation into the incident has alleged that the 22-year-old was racing another vehicle along a freeway at the time of the smash.
Police are said to be considering filing charges against Benjamin Michael Rowell, from Fort Worth, Texas, who was allegedly racing Hutchinson, according to TMZ.com.
Rowell was uninjured in the crash.

R&B star BRANDY is facing a second lawsuit in relation to her 2006 car crash which left a woman dead.
The singer, full name Brandy Norwood, walked away from the California freeway collision, but Awatef Aboudihaj died from her injuries.
The Afrodisiac hitmaker was never charged with any wrongdoing in the crash, but Aboudihaj’s family are pursuing a $50 million (£33.5 million) civil action for wrongful death against the star. The civil trial is set for April 2009.
And now Norwood is facing a second suit from a man who was injured in the accident. Donald Lite filed papers at Los Angeles Superior Court last week (08Dec08) claiming Norwood and Aboudihaj failed to follow road regulations, resulting in the smash which left him with "serious and permanent injuries".
Lite’s personal injury suit is seeking unspecified damages to cover his hospital costs, according to TMZ.com.

British funnyman EDDIE IZZARD is planning another historic stand-up gig in mainland Europe with a Berlin show completely in German.
The bilingual comic has already won acclaim for performing an all-French gig in Paris, France - he’s now planning another trip to Europe and this time he will be brushing up on his German.
Izzard, who plays a German officer in Tom Cruise’s new movie Valkyrie, tells WENN, "They say the Germans have no sense of humour and I’m going to prove them wrong by doing gigs in Berlin.
"I’ve been planning this for some time; in another two years. It’ll be at the Quatsch Comedy Club in Berlin. I talked to them five years ago about doing it but I have to do Paris first in French, which I’ve already done, and then stand-up in German in Berlin."

Hollywood funnyman JIM CARREY has no regrets after handing his role in 2000 movie MEET THE PARENTS over to BEN STILLER.
The Ace Ventura star claims he created the original concept for the highly successful film and began developing the project with legendary director Steven Spielberg.
Carrey, who was due to take the lead role in the movie, and Spielberg, were both subsequently forced to drop out, citing scheduling commitments.
The part was then handed to Ben Stiller, who went on to make a hit sequel, Meet The Fockers, in 2004.
But Carrey insists he is glad he walked away from the project, because Stiller was much better suited to the role.
He tells U.S. talkshow host Larry King, "Meet the Parents was something that I was developing with Steven Spielberg. Yes. I actually created the Fockers in a creative meeting. Yes. But, it was perfect that Ben Stiller did it. When I saw it, I went ‘That’s the way it’s supposed to be done’."

British actress EMMA THOMPSON is forced to lie to her husband when she buys new clothes - because he hates her spending money on expensive designer gear.
Thompson admits her partner, fellow thespian Greg Wise, is often mean with his money and only buys new underpants every five years.
And the Oscar-winner has to go to great lengths to cover up the results of her shopping sprees.
She says, "When I whimper as I watch him pull his ancient, baggy and fake Calvin Klein pants up over his perfectly formed six pack to his chin, he snaps, ‘Oh stop it. Hollywood actor RYAN PHILLIPPE is set to spend Christmas in Australia meeting his girlfriend’s family.
The Cruel Intentions star has been dating actress Abbie Cornish since his split from ex-wife Reese Witherspoon in 2006.
And now after spending the Thanksgiving holiday last month (Nov08) with his two children by Witherspoon, Phillippe has flown to Australia to enjoy a romantic festive break with his partner, meeting her extended family in the country.

MICKEY ROURKE has written a grovelling apology to a female movie company executive - to say sorry for swearing at her.
The foul-mouthed actor recently let slip an expletive while in talks with film bosses at Fox Searchlight.
And he was so remorseful about his behaviour, he later penned a note to the unnamed woman apologising for his bad language.
Rourke tells USA Today, "I used the c-word while talking to someone at Fox Searchlight, and I didn’t realise that could be offensive to a lady. I wrote her a letter and said, ‘I’m sorry. Sometimes I talk like that.’ I’ve apologised, and we’ve become friends." Rourke was also forced to say sorry after he hurled an anti-gay insult at a journalist outside a Los Angeles nightclub last month (Nov08) - insisting he was merely angry at comments the writer had made about his The Wrestler co-star Evan Rachel Wood.
He adds, "I’ve got more gay friends than any 20 straight guys I know. I’m the farthest thing from a homophobe… I lost my cool.”

Hollywood heavyweights including actor KENNETH BRANAGH and director RICHARD CURTIS are among the stars urging the British government to take action over illegal internet downloads.
Branagh, Notting Hill moviemaker Curtis, and screenwriter Lynda La Plante have all put their names to an open letter urging politicians to allow legal action to be taken against people who share copies of films and TV shows on the web.
More than 100 industry players including producers, directors and writers are demanding a solution to the problem, insisting internet service providers should be forced to take action if they discover their customers are illegally sharing files.
It is estimated that the U.K. recorded more than 98 million illegal film downloads in 2007.
