WAINWRIGHT REFUSES TO JOIN GAY MARRIAGE CAMPAIGN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

Gay singer RUFUS WAINWRIGHT refuses to join the campaign to allow same-sex unions, insisting he has no interest in marrying.
Unlike other gay celebrities, Wainwright abstained from marching and protesting the recent passing of Proposition 8 in California, which reversed a previous law permitting gay marriage.
But he does hate the idea that governments have the power to interfere with people’s lives in such a way.
Wainwright says, "Oddly enough, I’m actually not a huge gay marriage supporter. I personally don’t want to get married but I think that any law or amendment to the constitution that deals with sex and love should just be banned in general. I don’t think any government should encroach on what goes on in the bedroom at all. Frankly, if you want to marry a dog, why don’t you go ahead and marry a dog, I don’t care. I’m a complete libertarian and so I really disagree with it".

  • JOHN BLASTS X FACTOR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

SIR ELTON JOHN has lashed out at U.K
. TV talent show THE X FACTOR - insisting he would rather lose his genitals than watch it.
The Rocket Man is due to perform a concert in London on New Year’s Eve (31Dec08) - with the 2008 X Factor winner Alexandra Burke also lined up to appear at the gig.
But he has risked sparking a row with organisers by blasting the TV show, in which contestants battle for a record contract by singing their own versions of classic songs in a weekly knock-out competition.
During a show at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday, John said he would rather have his "c**k bitten off by an Alsatian (dog)" than watch the show, adding: "My balls too." And it’s not the first time the singer has slammed the programme
. In 2006, he told a journalist: "The X Factor is a cruise ship show
. I’ve got nothing against the people who go on - good luck to them
. But I hate how they’re treated." Burke was crowned the 2008 X Factor champion on Saturday night (13Dec08).

JENNIFER ANISTON loves singing and could have a successful music career, according to boyfriend JOHN MAYER.
The Friends star is shy when it comes to showing off her voice, and only does it when she thinks no one else is listening.
But Mayer is so impressed by the actress’ vocal talents, he’s convinced she could become a recording artist.
He tells America’s OK! magazine, "Do you know that girl can sing…? She does it when she doesn’t think anybody’s paying attention.
"I said to her the other night, ‘There’s a track in there.’ I think she could… kill it."

  • SMITH STAYED SOBER FOR OBAMA WIN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

WILL SMITH was so determined to remember every moment of BARACK OBAMA’s election win, he refused to touch a drop of alcohol all evening.
The Men in Black star knew history would be made when America went to the polls last month (Nov08) - and he deliberately avoided drinking so he could enjoy it even more.
He tells USA Today, "I wanted to be totally sober. I wanted to see and feel and remember everything. The whole family was there. It was really fantastic either way I knew it would be a historical evening. I wanted to be there and be aware."

  • CRUISE’S FRIENDLY REMATCH WITH LAUER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

TOM CRUISE returned to U.S. breakfast TV show TODAY on Monday (15Dec08), three years after he made headlines with a live rant against anti-depressant drugs.
During the broadcast in June 2005, Scientologist Cruise argued with interviewer Matt Lauer and criticised Brooke Shields’ use of drugs to combat postpartum depression.
But the pair’s Monday rematch was a friendlier affair - Cruise, promoting his new movie Valkyrie, collected toys from fans gathered outside the show’s New York studio, for a Christmas charity drive.
And he admitted he regrets the "arrogant" comments he made when he last visited.
He told Lauer, "It’s not what I had intended. I looked at myself and thought, that came across as arrogant. I learned a lesson." Cruise also batted away questions about his baby plans with wife Katie Holmes - the mother of his two year old daughter Suri - replying, "I think that’s a question for the woman." And he revealed Holmes will be marking her 30th birthday on Thursday (18Dec08) with a low-key celebration - as she is due onstage that night in Broadway play All My Sons.
Cruise explained, "We’re going to go to the theatre, and hang out."

  • SMITH HAS BIG PLANS, BUT NO MORE KIDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

WILL SMITH has given up on the idea of having more kids because it doesn’t fit into his 40-year plan with wife JADA PINKETT SMITH.
The movie star has three children - two by Pinkett Smith - and has often hinted about expanding his brood, but, after turning 40 in September (08), he decided that was no longer part of his future.
He tells USA Today, "Jada and I sat down and asked, ‘Where do we see ourselves?’ We went to 40 years from now.
"We see ourselves someplace where there are seasons… We think there’s mountains. We think we live on a golf course.
"We don’t have more children - we have grandchildren." And the Smiths have big charity plans: "We are the greatest philanthropists that America has ever seen. We’re gonna try and get up there with Bill and Melinda Gates."

  • ROURKE’S THERAPY PREPARED HIM FOR COMEBACK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

MICKEY ROURKE spent nine years in therapy before his analyst ruled he was no longer "crazy".
The actor initially resisted seeking psychiatric help, but, once in the doctor’s chair, he was forced to confront the childhood traumas that had blighted his character.
And The Wrestler star is now crediting his therapist with helping him make a successful career comeback, following a string of well-documented run-ins with the law, and a failed foray into professional boxing.
He says, "I’m still kind of embarrassed to say it, but I had to go and see a therapist for many years and work really hard to find out what made me short circuit.
"There were just too many things in me that were broken that I didn’t know how to fix, so I love my therapist because he took 13 years to sit there with me.
"I was very ashamed of seeing a therapist because I thought only crazy people went, and then, after about nine years, I asked him, ‘Well, was I really crazy?’ And he nodded and said, ‘You were, but not any more’."

  • MARR RULES OUT SMITHS REUNION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

Former THE SMITHS guitarist JOHNNY MARR has blasted reports the legendary 80s band are planning a comeback - because he doesn’t want to "go back in time".
The influential rockers, fronted by singer Morrissey, dominated the British music scene in the 1980s but split in 1987.
In recent years, Morrissey and Marr have been dogged with rumours they are set to reunite, despite both musicians pursuing successful post-Smiths careers.
And Marr has now broken his silence on a possible comeback, insisting he is too busy with his current band, The Cribs, to consider reforming The Smiths.
He tells NME.com, "The stories circulating about a Smiths reunion are, as usual, untrue. I’m currently very excited about writing and recording with The Cribs for a new album to be released next summer and we’re playing shows in February, so going back in time isn’t in my plans."

  • SNIDER NEEDED A MINDER TO PROTECT FANS FROM HIM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

TWISTED SISTER star DEE SNIDER needed a minder in the band’s heyday - to stop him attacking fans at gigs.
The colourful rocker lost his temper at shows when concertgoers threw beer onstage, and had to be restrained from diving into the audience to reprimand rowdy fans.
He says, "I was given a bodyguard because I was beating up the audience because they were throwing s**t at me. I had a short fuse for sure but I’m much better now. I grew up being the oddball, getting mocked and harassed for being different, crazier, and scarier and I wouldn’t take s**t from people for being an individual.
"My lawyer is like, ‘You can’t attack the audience. You have money now and fame and they will sue you!’" But Snider quickly realised a bodyguard could come in handy: "I was sent to a promotional appearance in Australia and we were leaving and some car pulls up next to our limo and this guy screams out, ‘You f**kin’ suck!’ My bodyguard jumps out of the car, rips open their door, pulls the guy out, bam, bam, bam, punches him out, leaves him in the street, gets back in the car and says to me, ‘How was that boss?’" And his minder kept the weirdos at bay: "You’d get the guys coming to the show bringing me bloody bones because they saw the (album) cover of Stay Hungry, where I’m holding a bloody bone."

  • SEX PISTOL HINTS AT NEW ALBUM PLANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

Punk legends the SEX PISTOLS are set for a recording comeback in 2009 - they are considering the possibility of a new album.
The controversial rockers released only one studio LP during their 1970s heyday.
They reunited for a comeback tour in 1996 and have played several concerts since then - but have stayed out of the recording studio.
However, original bass player Glen Matlock, who was replaced by Sid Vicious at the height of the band’s fame, has hinted a new album might be forthcoming next year (09).
He tells website TheQuietus, "The Sex Pistols? We’ve done our bit this year… we’ll meet again in the new year and see what we want to do.
"We were not recording a new album (in 2008) - I think that journalists are making it up, but you can never say never. We all got ideas between us. It’s a double-edged sword; if you do it not good as the original, and if you don’t do it people want to know why - but it’s up to us. We are the masters of our own destiny."

  • COMMON: ‘OBAMA WILL INFLUENCE HIP-HOP’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

Hip-hop is set for a big happy boost as a result of BARACK OBAMA’s U.S.
election victory, according to rapper/actor COMMON.
The Wanted star insists the public was getting tired of rappers writing about guns, drugs, and crime and he is hopeful that Obama’s White House win is a positive message to the world.
He is adamant hip-hop stars must follow the Democrat’s example.
He says, "I really do believe we, as hip-hop artists, pick up what’s going on in the world. I think hip-hop artists will have no choice but to talk about different things and more positive things. Try to bring a brighter side to that because, even before Barack, I think people had been tired of hearing the same thing."

  • AKON: ‘JACKSON WILL NEVER TOUR AGAIN’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

R&B singer AKON is convinced pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON will never commit to another world tour - because constant media intrusion has destroyed his confidence.
The Thriller hitmaker has been the centre of growing speculation he is about to stage a comeback tour, with internet gossips suggesting he is lining up a series of dates for 2009.
But Akon, who got to know Jackson after they teamed up to record a collaboration last year (07), admits that although the star is capable of putting on performances similar to those of his 1980s heyday, he will never tour again because the negative press coverage throughout his career has left him unable to "focus".
He tells WENN, "All of the good artists suffer from it these days. That’s why they disappear and you’ve got people who don’t even deserve to be there up there (in the charts) and people get tired and bored of that.
"If you want quality concerts and quality performances they (the media) have to lay off people. Michael Jackson is the best performer ever and he can’t even focus - you will never see another tour from him. (The media intrusion) plays a big role in that.
"It affects the people they’re writing about. It’s a lot to do with Michael Jackson not coming out and being open.
"I think all he needs is a record, one hit record then he might get his confidence back." And Akon is adamant that the public can already see the damage media influence can do to stars - insisting the constant presence of the paparazzi was one of the major reasons for Britney Spears’ January (08) breakdown.
But the Smack That hitmaker is pleased the singer looks as if she has put her troubles behind her.
He adds, "I really hope she is now here to stay. I’m pleased her album is doing so well. It’s really neat of her to make a comeback."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

Hollywood actress MISCHA BARTON has fallen for another rock star - she is dating British singer LUKE PRITCHARD.
The former O.C. star has had a string of failed relationships with musicians, including Cisco Adler and Rooney guitarist Taylor Locke.
But she has not been put off dating rockers, and is now stepping out with Pritchard, frontman of U.K. band The Kooks.
And he insists he isn’t phased by Barton’s poor track record with musicians because he’s thrilled to have a relationship with the actress.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "It’s early days yet but, yes, we are seeing each other. I’m very lucky. She’s beautiful, so I feel lucky she decided to go out with someone like me. It came about because we have lots of friends in common and kept going to the same parties.” (PAW/WNWCMIR/ZN) WENN - THIRD - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS - 15 DECEMBER 2008

  • MCCARTNEY ‘CONVINCED BEATLES TO TAKE ANTI-WAR STANCE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has sparked controversy after taking credit for introducing THE BEATLES to politics.
McCartney tells Prospect magazine he influenced the group’s political interest after learning of the horrors of the Vietnam war in a meeting with philosopher Bertrand Russell at his home in London in the mid-1960s.
He claims he then proceeded to convert his bandmates to the anti-war cause smashing the popular belief that it was John Lennon who politicised the band.
McCartney says, "He (Russell) told me about the Vietnam war - most of us didn’t know about it, it wasn’t yet in the papers - and also that it was a very bad war.
"I remember going back to the studio either that evening or the next day and telling the guys, particularly John, about this meeting and saying what a bad war it was." But an activist who led anti-war demonstrations in London in the 1960s has questioned McCartney’s account.
Former International Marxist Group leader Tariq Ali says, "This is news to me. It was John who was concerned about the war. He never mentioned McCartney and I never thought of asking him to join us.
"If McCartney was that way inclined, we would have known."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY tried to turn the DALAI LAMA vegetarian, insisting the famed Buddhist was "wrong" to eat meat.
The Beatles legend wrote to the spiritual leader to point out that meat-eaters contribute to the suffering of animals, contradicting his statement that Buddhists "believe in not causing suffering to any sentient beings".
And the Hey Jude hitmaker even disagreed when the Dalai Lama insisted he ate meat for health reasons.
In an interview with Prospect magazine, McCartney says, "I found out he was not a vegetarian, so I wrote to him saying ‘Forgive me for pointing this out, but if you eat animals then there is some suffering somewhere along the line’.
"He replied saying that his doctors had told him he needed it, so I wrote back saying they were wrong."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:18 pm

WILL SMITH is glad he plays a depressed, suicidal tax officer in new film SEVEN POUNDS - because it made him take greater control over his own destiny.
The Hancock actor stars as a U.S. IRS agent who is racked with guilt about his past mistakes in the upcoming drama.
And he admits the role has made him behave more cautiously in case fate deals him a tragic blow.
He tells USA Today, "That’s one of the elements that attracted me to this idea - how much control you can have over your life but how much you don’t have once you relinquish it.
"I make choices in my life after working on this film. I found myself walking down the stairs and it’s raining, and I found myself grabbing extra-hard on the railing. Just think, one slip - and that’s it. You have to be conscious. You don’t have control after you’ve set these dominoes in motion. Your control point is before you make this crucial mistake."
