STREEP REFUSES TO CAMPAIGN FOR AWARDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:30 pm

MERYL STREEP wants to outlaw the practise of campaigning for big awards, because she hates the idea of seeing the star with the best ad grabbing the top prize.
The two-time Oscar winner is entering the winter awards season a hot favourite for several top acting prizes, for her role in Doubt.
Streep was nominated for a Golden Globe Award on Thursday (11Dec08), and is expected to pick up an Oscar nod when nominees are announced in January (08).
But she won’t be buying up magazine and billboard space.
She says, "I hate the campaigning thing. It’s unseemly. You should be honoured for something. It shouldn’t be for who’s campaign was better."
