DANE DENIES RUMOURS KNIGHT QUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:57 am

GREY’S ANATOMY star ERIC DANE has blasted reports T.R. KNIGHT has quit the show - insisting he is still shooting scenes.
Rumours have circulated that Knight is to leave the U.S. medical drama, but Dane is adamant he’s heard nothing from producers confirming the reports.
Asked if the rumour is true, he says: "Not that I know of. I was with him yesterday working, so I don’t know. Until (show creator) Shonda Rhimes tells me he’s no longer on the show, he’s there."

Hollywood veteran VAN JOHNSON has died at the age of 92.
The actor - who rose to fame in the 1940s - died of natural causes at a New York assisted living center on Friday (12Dec08).
Johnson became known for his all-American charm on screen in the 1940s and 50s, which earned him the nickname "the non-singing Sinatra".
His silver screen credits include A Guy Named Joe, The Caine Mutiny and 30 Seconds over Tokyo, opposite Elizabeth Taylor.
Johnson returned to his theatrical roots in the 1960s, with a role in Damn Yankees and a stint in The Music Man on London’s West End.
His television credits also include The Love Boat, Fantasy Island and McMillan & Wife.
In the 1980s, Johnson appeared on Broadway in Jerry Herman musical La Cage aux Folles, which he followed up with a small role in Woody Allen’s 1985 movie The Purple Rose of Cairo.
He is survived by a daughter, Schuyler, from his late ex-wife Eve Lynn Abbott Wynn.

  • SUPERGRASS QUIT RECORD LABEL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:54 am

British rockers SUPERGRASS have left their record label of 12 years and appointed bassist MICKEY QUINN managing director of the band.
The trio has walked away from their deal with EMI-owned Parlophone records, which has been their home since their 1994 debut track Caught By The Fuzz.
They will now release all of their future music through their own company Supergrass Records, in a bid to give them more control over their careers.
Quinn, who will take over administrative duties for the band, tells NME.com, "When you’re footing the bill you pull your horns in. In a lot of ways that makes you more creative." The All right hitmakers are the latest in a long line to walk away from EMI, with acts including Sir Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and Radiohead all leaving after the company was taken over by private equity group Terra Firma in 2007. • PAPA ROACH SUED BY EX-DRUMMER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:54 am

Ex-PAPA ROACH drummer DAVE BUCKNER is suing his former bandmates, alleging they owe him a cut of money made by the band since he was axed.
Buckner, a founding member, was fired from the group on Christmas Eve 2007, after falling out with his ex-bandmates.
But he remained a partner in the various companies the band formed - and claims he has been excluded from business transactions his former friends have made over the last year, including bank loans and profits.
In the suit filed on 28 November (08) and obtained by TMZ.com, Buckner seeks to dissolve the companies, and asks for his share of profits, plus damages.

  • BROWN BILLBOARD’S TOP ARTIST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:51 am

R&B singer CHRIS BROWN has been named Billboard’s top artist of 2008.
The 19-year-old hitmaker has enjoyed a meteoric rise since winning the award in 2006, with hits With You and No Air.
Artists rankings are determined by album sales, including digital downloads, radio airplay and internet streams.
He says of the achievement, "It’s bigger than what I can ever imagine. It’s unexpected totally, so it’s a surprise." "I’ve had a good year but I still feel like a little insecure in those parts.
I’m like, ‘There’s little ol’ me getting an award’ - that’s incredible." Following Brown is rapper Lil Wayne, who came in second; Rihanna, in third, and Alicia Keys and Taylor Swift, who rounded out the top five.

  • BONO AWARDED NOBEL ‘MAN OF PEACE’ PRIZE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:51 am

Irish rocker BONO has been awarded the annual Nobel Man of Peace prize for his efforts to combat poverty, debt and disease in Africa.
Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe hosted the award ceremony in the city on Friday (12Dec08), honouring the U2 frontman for his global campaign to persuade rich nations to lend assistance to the struggling continent.
Bono told the crowd, which included fellow Nobel laureates, "This is a very big award for me, because let’s be honest this is as close as I am going to get - as close as a rock star is ever going to get to the Nobel Peace Prize.
"I am an over-awarded, over-rewarded rock star. You are the people who do the real work.
"So I am very, very pleased to be in such esteemed company." Italian co-host Walter Veltroni, added, "We decided to nominate a man who has given a lot and will continue to give a great deal to the struggle for human rights, to the fight against poverty, with his music and with his words.
"He has put pressure on the world’s governments to reach the UN’s Millennium Goals. To give him the prize, is to say that fight will carry on." U.S. actors George Clooney and Don Cheadle were awarded the prize last year (07).

  • PILOT’S FAMILY DENIES LACK OF TRAINING CAUSED FATAL BARKER/GOLDSTEIN CRASH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:51 am

The family of the pilot killed in the plane crash that left TRAVIS BARKER and ADAM ‘DJ AM’ GOLDSTEIN severely burned and three others dead has shot back at reports his lack of training caused the tragic accident.
The estate of pilot James Bland was targetted in a recent suit, filed by the widow of Barker’s assistant, Chris Baker, who was killed in the South Carolina crash in September (08).
The lawsuit alleges pilots Bland, 52, and Sarah Lemmon, 31, also killed in the incident, were "poorly trained" and "negligently decided to abort and/or reject takeoff".
Bland’s younger sister, Laura Martz, 47, tells People.com, "We know the investigation will eventually show they weren’t negligent. James took piloting very seriously. If he felt the plane wasn’t maintained properly, he would’ve refused to fly that day.
"Whatever happened on the runway, I’m sure it was beyond (the pilots’) control.
"James was such a meticulous person, he was the type who wouldn’t pay his bills even a day late. He also had total confidence in the abilities of Sarah.
"I don’t blame them for suing. It was to be expected; that’s just the way our society functions. In fact, I’d love to be able to talk to Travis Barker and DJ AM about my brother’s final moments.
"This was just a complete tragedy all around, and I just want to know what happened from (Barker and DJ AM’s) perspective." Barker filed his own lawsuit last month (Nov08), against companies Clay Lacy Aviation, Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Bombardier Inc., Global Exec Aviation and Inter Travel & Services. He did not name Bland’s estate in the suit.
Commenting on the investigation, National Transportation Safety Board spokesperson Peter Knudson says, "It’s far too early to say who or what is to blame in this crash. We’re still in the fact-gathering stage regarding this case."
