TOM CRUISE has added another embarrassing U.S. chatshow stunt to his repertoire - after he performed an impromptu ELVIS PRESLEY impression on THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO.
The actor, who famously stunned fans in 2005 by leaping on a couch on Oprah Winfrey’s daytime talk show to proclaim his love for then-girlfriend Katie Holmes, broke into a rendition of The King’s hit Blue Suede Shoes in front of Leno and a live studio audience.
Cruise jumped from his seat to mimic the rock ‘n’ roll legend’s hip-shaking moves during his appearance on Thursday (11Dec08), before confessing he’d love to follow in the footsteps of his wife Holmes and star in a Broadway play.
He told the shocked talkshow host, "I like making movies but I’m not saying ‘no’ to Broadway. I would like to do a musical."

Teen sensation MILEY CYRUS has landed the keys to her stepmum’s old sportscar.
The 16-year-old Hannah Montana star passed her California learner’s permit exam on Wednesday (10Dec08), and she’s already behind the wheel of a luxurious Porsche.
She tells U.S. news show Extra, "I took my mom’s old car. I didn’t get the one I wanted, but I got the old car which wasn’t so bad because it was a Porsche… It was a pretty good hand me down."

Police in Vienna, Austria have launched an investigation after a theatre actor accidentally cut his throat with a real knife during a play.
Daniel Hoevels was supposed to use a prop blade for his character’s suicide scene in drama Mary Stuart, but the fake dagger was replaced with the genuine article.
And when he stabbed himself in the neck during a performance on Saturday night (06Dec08), blood gushed all over the stage.
Police authorities fear the knife was replaced and left to cause damage, while the theatre company bosses insist the prop version was damaged and that instructions to blunt the replacement had been "carelessly" disregarded.
Hoevels received stitches for his injury and has returned to the cast.

GUNS N’ ROSES frontman AXL ROSE has announced he was not disappointed to see the band’s new album CHINESE DEMOCRACY beaten to top spot in the American charts by KANYE WEST.
The rockers’ long-awaited new LP entered at number three in the Billboard chart at the beginning of this month (Dec08) with sales of 261,000.
West’s new offering, 808s & Heartbreak, stormed into the number one spot, shifting a massive 450,000 copies in its first week of release.
And Rose admits he doesn’t mind seeing the band’s comeback disc dwarfed by West - because he is a fan of the rapper’s work.
He writes on the official Guns N’ Roses website, "I met Kanye at the Versace awards. He was very gracious. I love Gold Digger and told him so. I’m a big fan of his stage performance as he seems to go for it physically which I relate more to.
"Before our release, I sent him a message that any nonsense from the media had nothing to do with us and wished him the best. I’m humbled we’ve done as well as we have considering."

Music mogul SIMON COWELL is embarrassed about leaked documents which revealed contestants on his hit U.K. TV talent show THE X FACTOR are banned from criticising him - calling the order "ridiculous".
Papers detailing rules imposed on the aspiring pop stars were made public earlier this week (begs08Dec08).
One clause orders contestants not to verbally disapprove of Cowell in public or on air.
The documents also reveal the winner of the reality contest receives a recording advance of $225,000 (£150,000) - not the $1.5 million (£1 million) frequently touted as the show’s big prize.
But Cowell has now hit back at the conditions - admitting the contract makes him look a hypocrite when he has built a reputation as TV’s ‘Mr Nasty’.
He says, "It’s slightly embarrassing when any commercial contract goes out. I wasn’t aware I was one of the clauses. You can’t be horrible about me? That’s probably the most useless clause in the history of contracts, because everybody does talk horribly about me, and you know what? I don’t care.
"It sounds ridiculously hypocritical for me to slate loads of people who come on the show and then say, ‘You have to be nice about Simon’." Cowell also defended the size of the recording contract handed to the show’s eventual winner, adding: "It’s £150,000 to the winner and that’s a lot of dosh (money). Add in the recording costs of between £300,000 and £500,000, videos are £200,000, £250,000 for advertising and £150,000 for marketing. We make a £1 million commitment to the winner."

Rapper EMINEM has hit out after a track from his forthcoming album RELAPSE was posted online.
The Stan hitmaker announced in October (08) that he was considering releasing his sixth LP before the end of the year (08).
But the star recently admitted that the record - which he is producing with Dr. Dre - would not be ready to hit shops until early 2009.
And now Eminem is furious after seeing a new track appear on the internet ahead of the album’s release.
He tells Billboard.com, "It (the leaked song) wasn’t close to finished and it even has me doing guide vocals for Dre as a suggestion of how he could lay his verses down. It’s like someone catches you peeping in your window before you got the Spider-Man costume all zipped up! Nobody is supposed to see that."

GUNS N’ ROSES frontman AXL ROSE was "taken off guard" when he found out the band’s legal team was threatening to sue drinks manufacture Dr Pepper over their botched promotional deal with the band.
The singer insists he had nothing to do with the decision to threaten legal action against officials at the beverage company, after a planned soft drink giveaway went awry.
Company officials refused to believe the band would release their long awaited LP this year (08), and offered to hand out cans of soda to every U.S.
citizen if the record hit shelves before 2009.
The group released the album in November (08) after a 15 year wait and drinks bosses set up an internet scheme which encouraged people to register at the brand’s website on the day of the LP’s release (23Nov08) to claim a coupon redeemable for a can of pop.
But the huge demand crashed the site’s servers and left many fans without their vouchers. Lawyers for the band insisted the promotion was not good enough and sent several letters to company officials demanding an apology.
But Rose is adamant that the decision to publicly chastise Dr Pepper chiefs was nothing to do with him - as he was too busy promoting the new LP to care.
He writes on the band’s official website, "The actions taken so far had nothing to do with me and I was taken off guard as I had specifically told our team, ‘Who f**king cares?! Right now we have a record to deal with.’ My feelings are after their public response. It was cute. Maybe the guy who got it rolling originally meant well, but it turned out sour and maybe it’s just me, but he seems like maybe he wants a bit too much attention…"

British singer SEAL was stunned when he first slept with supermodel HEIDI KLUM - because she was pregnant by another man.
The Kiss From A Rose hitmaker started dating the beauty five years ago, after she had split from Formula 1 team director Flavio Briatore.
And she had a surprise for the singer after their first night together - she was expecting a baby.
Seal says, “I laughed and said, ‘Already? That’s amazing!’ She said, ‘Not with you stupid’. There was a pause of about 10 seconds and I said, ‘It doesn’t change the way I feel about you because the fact that you are here tells me that you think a lot about me’.
“People have said I was such a good person, so courageous. I honestly don’t see it like that. I was the lucky one. We didn’t have time for the usual pre-marital dance that couples get into. For the first time in my life I had total clarity in a relationship and I knew exactly what I had to do.
“This was the one thing, the gig I had always promised myself that I wouldn’t mess up when it came along. There was none of this ‘I’ll see how it goes’. I’d promised myself that since I was a kid.” The German beauty gave birth to daughter Leni in 2004, and sons, Henry and Johan, with Seal quickly followed - but the singer insists he treats Heidi’s daughter as his own.
He adds, “For the first time in my life I knew what my future was going to be. I had a ready-made family – a beautiful daughter that I love. I’d give my life for any of my children, but there’s a special relationship with daughters.
Also because she was the first one.
“When she came everything changed. You start being more responsible and think about what you are going to do with your time. If you ask me what I’m going to be doing this time next year I could tell you.”

SCARLETT JOHANSSON is urging the world to take note of Nobel laureate MARTTI AHTISAARI’s pioneering meditation techniques because she’s convinced they can solve world problems.
The actress was among the celebrities at the Nobel Peace Concert in Oslo, Norway on Thursday (11Dec08) and was keen for world leaders to end wars by listening to what the former Finnish president has to say.
Johansson, who co-hosted the concert with Michael Caine, says, "It is important to remind young people that peace is the only real victory." Diana Ross and Feist were among the acts who performed at the concert.

NICOLE RICHIE has reportedly enlisted the help of RIHANNA and KELLY OSBOURNE in her bid to launch a solo music career.
The adopted daughter of legendary singer Lionel Richie was a member of rock band Darling in 2004, and is gearing up for the release of her debut LP.
And she is said to have received performance tips from Umbrella hitmaker Rihanna and Osbourne, the daughter of Black Sabbath legend Ozzy.

Singers ELVIS COSTELLO, STING and SEAL will perform at a concert in Washington D.C. to celebrate U.S. President-elect BARACK OBAMA’s inauguration on 20 January (09).
The British stars will be joined by a host of celebrities at the unofficial inaugural ball to mark the historic occasion.
Anne Hathaway, Susan Sarandon, Marcia Cross and heavyweight film directors Spike Lee and Ron Howard will also appear at the sold-out event, which aims to raise funds for arts and entertainment advocacy group The Creative Coalition.
The musical guests, including rocker Sam Moore, are scheduled to perform until midnight at the event that will take place in Washington’s Harman Center of the Arts.

TAKE THAT singer GARY BARLOW encouraged former bandmate ROBBIE WILLIAMS to move back to the U.K. - because it is the perfect place to pen new songs.
Earlier this week (beg08Dec08), a British tabloid reported that Williams was set to move back to England after living in Los Angeles for five years.
And Barlow thinks he was the driving force behind the Angel hitmaker’s decision.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "It’s great news that he’s decided to come back to the U.K. I’ve always loved working here and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else - and I’ve been telling Robbie for a while now that he needs to move back.
I think the time is right for him to come back now.
"I don’t think the U.S. is the best place for him to be. This is where he thrives and is the best thing he can do for his career. He’s got a lot of unfinished business here and he’ll be back to his best in no time if he comes home."

U.S. TV star COBY BELL is a dad again - his wife AVISS gave birth to a second set of twins on 2 December (08).
The Game star’s new daughter Quinn and son Eli were born one minute apart at California’s Long Beach Memorial Hospital, according to Life & Style magazine.
Coby and Aviss’ first set of twins, daughters Jaena and Serrae, are five.
The actor tells the publication, "We’re not getting any sleep, but we’re extremely happy people."

Stuntman ROBBIE KNIEVEL is to honour the 40th anniversary of his legendary dad’s New Year’s Eve (31Dec) Las Vegas hotel jump by attempting to clear the Mirage hotel volcano in Sin City.
The daredevil will ring in 2009 with an early morning jump as part of U.S. TV special New Year’s Eve Live, which will also feature performances from American Idol winner David Cook and rocker Scott Weiland.
The late Evel Knievel made his historic New Year’s jump at Caesar’s Palace in 1968.

Epic space movie franchise STAR WARS is to be turned into a spectacular London stage show.
Creator of the cult movies, George Lucas, has announced plans for the production - titled Star Wars: A Musical Journey - which will feature the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing a live score as excerpts from the six films are shown on a cinema screen.
The show will feature live narrators, and is set to premiere at the O2 Arena in London in April before touring Europe.

Actor STEVE GUTTENBERG turned down two Hollywood movies to perform in an English village pantomime - on the advice of former HAPPY DAYS star HENRY WINKLER.
The Police Academy star plays Baron Hardup in a Christmas production of Cinderella at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley, Kent.
And Guttenberg has revealed he rejected big money film offers in order to perform at the 785 capacity venue, after consulting The Fonz actor Winkler who has been appearing in pantomime for the past two years.
Guttenberg says, "I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to do it as I was offered two movies at the same time. One was an action film which I think will be a pretty good movie and the other is a romcom.
"I spoke to my friend Henry Winkler, who is a wonderful guy, and he said, ‘Do it. You will have the most wonderful time of your life.’ Henry is one of the smartest guys in showbusiness today so I said, ‘Yeah’."

ADAM SANDLER has offered his public support to BEDTIME STORIES co-star RUSSELL BRAND after the British funnyman resigned from his BBC Radio show over a lewd behaviour scandal.
Brand quit his BBC Radio 2 gig after he and fellow broadcaster Jonathan Ross were slammed for leaving "grossly offensive" voicemail messages on former Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs’ answer machine during a live broadcast in October (08).
The pair discussed Brand’s fling with the 78-year-old’s granddaughter Georgina Baillie.
And Sandler insists the funnyman deeply regrets his actions and just wants to move on after the scandal.
The Hollywood star says, "He isn’t happy and he is regretful and looking forward to moving on. I didn’t hear the tape. I think a lot of comedians are trying to make people laugh all the time and sometimes you’re in a place where you hurt people.
"But he is a good man. He is sorry too. You’ve got to move on." Brand, who fled to Los Angeles in the wake of the scandal, made one of his first British public appearances at the London premiere of Bedtime Stories on Thursday night (11Dec08) - and Sandler was happy to see him there: "Everyone was really good to Russell."
