DARK KNIGHT DVD BREAKS NEW RECORD
THE DARK KNIGHT has broken a new record after DVD sales soared to nearly 3 million in the U.S., Canada and Britain - three days after its release.
The Batman film, starring Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger, originally hit the big screen in July (08) and has so far grossed more than $996 million (£668.5million) worldwide Warner Home Video President Ron Sanders says, "It’s encouraging. The Blu-ray (high definition) sales of Dark Knight were exceptionally strong and much higher than our projections." Studio bosses recently revealed plans to re-release the film across the U.S.
on 23 January, a day after the announcement of this year’s Oscar nominations.
The re-release is expected to take the box office total past $1 billion (£671 million).
