Hollywood actress LINDSAY LOHAN has managed to defy the global economic downturn - her new line of leggings have sold out in boutiques across the world.
The Mean Girls star launched the 6126 collection this summer (08) and the products which range in price from $44 (£30) to $132 (£90) have become bestsellers.
Jill Lowe, publicist for high-end Hollywood boutique Intuition, tells the New York Daily News, "They’re blowing off the shelves." The leggings - which come in 35 different colours and patterns - are also said to have scored record sales in U.S. stores including Henri Bendel, Nordstrom, Intermix and Lisa Kline.

British star HELEN MIRREN has confessed she only married husband TAYLOR HACKFORD for the financial benefits.
The Oscar winning actress has been married to American film director Hackford for 11 years.
And Mirren admits she only decided to get hitched for "economic" reasons insisting she never had any desire to walk down the aisle.
But the star is glad she finally committed , and is adamant they will stick to their vows.
She tells Glamour magazine, "It was never my intention to marry anybody.
Economics are basically the only reason to get married, but I’m very glad I did it.
"I ended up loving it more than I thought I would. I love that I am committed to him and he is to me, and I am utterly convinced that we will be together until I die or he dies."

JENNIFER ANISTON partly owes her success to a harsh Russian teacher who insisted she’d never make it as an actress.
The former Friends star was ridiculed and slated by the coach during her school days, and set out to prove him wrong.
She explains, “I was in the High School of Performing Arts and my Russian acting coach told me that I was a disgrace to the Moscow Theatre.
“I was determined to prove him wrong and do good work.”

BEYONCE KNOWLES has handed over her pay cheque from new movie CADILLAC RECORDS - to aid the recovering drug addicts who helped her become troubled blues great ETTA JAMES in the film.
The clean-cut singer had no idea how to play a drug abuser in the movie about the birth of Chess Records - and so she spent a day with addicts at New York’s Phoenix House recovery centre.
Knowles admits she was deeply touched by the women she met and moved by their stories of hardship - and now she’s digging deep to help their recovery.
Cadillac Records director Darnell Martin has revealed his star is handing over big bucks to Phoenix House, and the centre’s spokeswoman Karen Sodomick tells Giant magazine the star will also donate her time.
She explains, "She and her mom suggested cosmetology for our skills-training program. We’re working with them now to make it happen."

Former THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN star LEE MAJORS has been spreading festive cheer in Los Angeles - helping a woman with her dry cleaning and buying breakfast for a homeless man.
The actor reportedly spotted a woman struggling with armfuls of clothes outside a post office in Beverly Hills and he stepped in to help.
A source tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "Lee immediately grabbed the clothes and put them neatly on the back seat, telling her, ‘Don’t hang them from the hooks. They block your vision.’" And after carrying out one good deed, the star found someone else in need of his help.
The source adds, "Then, while walking back to his Jaguar, he spotted a homeless man in front of the BeverLiz Cafe, went up to him and said, ‘Breakfast’s on me, pal!’ He ordered the gent a California omelette with turkey bacon and OJ."

GREY’S ANATOMY hunk ERIC DANE came to the rescue of an injured Chihuahua when the little dog’s owner tossed her from a moving car.
The pooch suffered a broken leg and was limping around Los Angeles’ trendy Larchmont shopping district when Dane spotted her.
He explains, "This girl told me someone had thrown the dog out of a moving car, so I took it. I took it on vacation and nursed it back to health. The dog’s fine. It’s name is Nelly.
"My wife (Rebecca Gayheart) thought I was the sweetest guy in the world for taking that dog, until I told her to take care of the dog."

Burlesque star DITA VON TEESE has ruled out a romance with controversial British comedian RUSSELL BRAND.
The dancer gave Brand her number following a chance meeting in Los Angeles and received a call from the star soon after.
But Von Teese revealed "good female intuition" stopped her answering the phone - and she insists lothario Brand has no chance of sleeping with her.
She says, “I will not be sh***ing Russell Brand. Just because I gave him my number does not mean I’ll be going on a date with him. I was the subject of one of his calls once, but I didn’t answer the phone thank goodness! “I just saw his name come up on the screen and thought: ‘I don’t think I’m going to answer that right now’."

O.J. SIMPSON could have settled for a three year jail term but turned the offer down, according to a friend of the disgraced star.
The former American footballer-turned-actor was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison on Friday (05Dec08) for his part in a sports memorabilia heist at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas last year (Sep07).
But the star’s pal Thomas Scotto has claimed Simpson turned down a chance late in the trial to take a three year prison term - as he believed he would be found not guilty.
Scotto says, "O.J. and his sister told me the prosecution offered him a deal but he and his lawyers turned it down." And Scotto admits the fallen star will now be ruing the decision after being given a much harsher punishment, adding, "He may have given it more serious consideration if he’d known what was coming."

Movie mogul HARVEY WEINSTEIN has defended the glut of Holocaust films emerging from Hollywood - insisting the tragic events are a "wonderful" subject to study.
Six new movies released in December (08) centre on the mass slaughter of Jews in 1940s Germany, including The Reader - starring Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes - Defiance, Tom Cruise’s Valkyrie, and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
Some critics have argued that the story is too gloomy for the festive season - but Weinstein insists it’s an important subject for filmmakers to tackle.
He tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "What a wonderful subject to explore in as many ways as possible. I hope our children get educated about the Holocaust, so it will be ‘Never again’." Other Holocaust-themed films due to hit cinemas include Adam Resurrected, and Good, which stars Viggo Mortensen and will be released on December 31 (08).

TWILIGHT director CATHERINE HARDWICKE has reportedly been turned down as director of the smash hit vampire film’s sequel NEW MOON - despite vocalising her desire to be involved with the project.
The filmmaker scored the biggest debut ever for a female director when the bloodsucking love story shot to number one in the U.S. late in November (08), and was the favourite to take the follow-up movie’s helm.
But, according to Hollywood Reporter, bosses at Summit Entertainment - the franchise’s studio - have confirmed Hardwicke will not direct the sequel, stating the moviemaker’s proposed preparation time did not fit in with their plans to release New Moon in late 2009 or early 2010.
Industry rumours reportedly suggest Hardwicke did not see eye-to-eye with Summit Entertainment during the making of Twilight.
And, in a recent interview, Hardwicke spoke of her excitement about possibly filming the second installment of author Stephanie Meyer’s cult books, insisting the movie would be finished by early 2010 - the same time period Summit have slated for the film’s release.
She told MTV, "I would say that the film could be finished by the end of 2009, if not the beginning of 2010; cameras could be rolling in about five months. We spent about a year and three months getting (Twilight) ready, between writing the script and casting. We could probably do things a little bit faster this time, but who knows? It depends."

Former DANITY KANE star AUBREY O’DAY has reportedly followed in the footsteps of LINDSAY LOHAN and embarked on a lesbian relationship.

GIRLS ALOUD star CHERYL COLE is planning to put her singing career on hold - in order to have a baby with her soccer star husband.
The British singer has been married to soccer player Ashley Cole for more than two years.
And now the singer, who has also been busy starring as a judge on British TV talent show The X Factor, believes the time may be right to take a temporary career break, so she can try for a baby.
She says, "I am having thoughts about having children. Girls Aloud wouldn’t break up if I had a baby, but it would change the dynamics. There will come a time when you have to prioritise things."

An online encyclopedia entry about SCOPIONS’ album VIRGIN KILLER has been blacklisted by an Internet watchdog because of the LP’s controversial cover art.
The original 1976 record caused uproar when it was released because the cover showed a picture of a nude prepubescent girl. The artwork was deemed so offensive it was eventually replaced by a less controversial picture showing the four band members.
And now, more than 30 years later, the photograph is still causing problems.
Online encyclopedia website, Wikipedia, has had a page dedicated to the album blacklisted by Britain’s Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), because the article shows the record’s original cover.
The list is used to filter out child pornography and other illegal content and means 95 per cent of internet users will not be able to access the Wikipedia entry about the LP.

R&B star NE-YO will give poor youngsters in Las Vegas an early Christmas present - he is to perform a free concert for more than 1,000 youths in the city.
The Closer hitmaker will take the mic at a community centre in Sin City in an event staged by his non-profit organisation, The Compound Foundation.
It aims to help underprivileged kids gain a good education by providing scholarships and post-graduate training.

OASIS star NOEL GALLAGHER has heaped praise on rock rival DAMON ALBARN branding the former BLUR frontman a "great artist".

The singer turned to lover Perry during one of the lowest points of his life - and is convinced it was her love that kept him from taking his own life.
